What a memory you two have created and a beautiful cozy book nook. Readers love to see their books displayed, and this corner is exceptional. Agatha Christie winter murder, a hot bevie, warm reading socks, the crackle of wood in the fire, .... Bliss.

I recommend anything by Manning Coles! Two people who worked for MI5 before during and after WWII combined their writing talents and their experiences to make suspenseful novels with the occasional dry English tongue firmly wegded in cheek humour. Main character, Thomas Elfinstone Hambleton. A great read and always hard for me to put down. Another is the Father Brown mysteries. These were written for magazines and papers so they are short stories. This is for people who are very busy but still need the occasional short reading break.

This was an extremely special video. Danie, you and your beautiful mom not only created a cozy reading nook, you create special mom and daughter memories.❤
When you said "Is that why we call a loony, a loony because it has a loone on it." I as a Canadian who lives less then 2 hours west of you, was about to put on my toque, red and black flannel jacket jump into my car 🚗 drive to your house an revoke your Canadian card.🇨🇦 But I will not. Because I am Canadian and it's not polite to come to someone's home invited.😂

Danie and Danie's mom, this is so lovely and warm. You two did such a great job. Everything looks so wonderful together... the colour, the accessories, the lighting, all add to the mood. I'm actually thinking it was a "happy accident" that the hardware didn't fit for the bottom cupboards. I really like the middle open. If your Mom has more rooms to work on Danie, you should make a series of this. I'd love to see a cottage makeover.

So proud of you two! I'm assuming this is her first time changing up the house since your step-father passed? Hi! Mom. You raised a "keeper". I would love to see more episodes like this one. Also, that difference in width between upper shelves and lower cabinets allows for oversize books to stick out and be esthetically pleasing 😉. Happy accident I say!

I loved it. But two things I would change would be (both real easy)... Add more peg holes so you can maybe squeeze in one more shelf... and because it's such a dark corner, I'd paint the inside of the shelves and cabinets the antique white (leave the face frames, the ledge/countertop and the doors green). It will throw more light onto the books and make them even more beautiful and visible. 💖🌞🌵😷

So fun to watch your mom & you completely this project together! The book shef/ cabinet is a book lover's dream! ( I am partial to green anyway!) The eather chair and hanging lamp fit in perfectly! Great job, ladies!❤😅

I agree my favorite part was watching you and your mom together!! Soooo my mom and I 🥰❤️ I would not change a thing, it’s perfect and so pretty!! And I love your ideas!! I just moved into my father-in-law’s knotty pine, low ceiling, cozy home not too long ago and we are whittling away at the to-do list slowly but surely 😊❤️ I cannot wait for the decorating part of our remodeling. And my entire kitchen was built in place just as your mom’s reading nook… you even chose the same color that I want to use for paint!! Now I feel even better about my choices! Eclectic it is ❤️❤️❤️

What a work! It is good to see some people actually doing the things rather than pretending doing them as on other channels. An adorable moment between you and your Mum.
I would see a big square rather flat cushion on the floor for a dog, in the same hues as the rug.

Beautiful reading room. I would add foot rest stool to that armchair and dog beds somewhere around. Maybe electric fireplace like heater, but it might be too big for the area. It turned out lovingly. ❤️

Looks so good! Love that you two worked together to get it all done AND that you left in the hiccups and oops moments so we can see that even experienced “real” DIYers sometimes have to rework plans and that things don't always go perfectly smooth. Makes all the aggravation and mistakes we make while learning seem less like “ugh I can't do this, why is this so hard, no one else has this much trouble” seem more like “these are just the way projects go” and that having problems pop up mid project isn't necessarily about our skill level but just the reality of doing DIY projects- so appreciate that. Another great project!!

You and your mom are just the absolute sweetest beans I ever did see!
