I usually don’t like yellow in a house, but the color worked perfect in that space… especially playing off the door color. But, for a piece that had so much wear and tear, you really did make it 100% theirs. Win!!!
I watch a furniture restorer and they mentioned that if you are going to paint wood it's good to seal it before priming because that makes it easier for someone to return it to did in the future if they want 😉
Oh! Thank you for that info! I was thinking what if...? Mustard isn't everyone's favorite, and now that the hutch is repaired and solid, some future person might want something else. Will remember for my own makeovers.😊
I loved the before version of the hutch and all of its antique coziness, but you made this into something that Kim can love for her kitchen and that’s wonderful!
I love how excited they both were about it. I think this will really help them feel more comfortable experimenting with color in their home. They were adorable and this turned out great.
Cannot tell you how much I LOVE THIS. My house is decorated with these sorts of colours and everyone is always surprised but then they say “It’s so warm and welcoming and cheerful”!! Like YEAHHH! Colour for the win!!! More maximalism please!! 🎉🎉
I love this series, becouse it is something personal. I like to make things for poeple and I love to see how poeple takle "prompts". I love such kitchen peaces. I had one from my great great grandma...sadly I had to get rid if it.
Have to be honest, I was rooting for the chartreuse somewhere on the piece. 😎Hope Kim & Paul love the update for years. Danie, did you figure out the wood(s) the hutch was made from? Love that tongue & groove kit you found to finish the back. Hubby took his the Hemnes bookcase in his office, and bought similiar pieces (not a kit) to finish the back, rather than use what Ikea provides. Curious to see the router you choose, because you need to be able to trust your tools.🖤 Thanks, Danie!
I've used routers a lot. I've had bits fall but it was because I failed to tighten the bit securely. There is only one direction you should go when cutting into the materials, and that's from left to right only. You go right to left, it will want to jump out of your hand.
What a fantastic makeover on this beautiful piece! So much of it was dirty and unsalvageable before, but the after is clean, bright, and just so fun and colorful! What a happy piece of furniture, I'd definitely use this in my home!
I won’t lie, I nearly cried when you routed that weathered top of the piece. It turned out beautiful though. I really wanted to see some chartreuse on it too.
This is one of my favourite pieces you've upcycled in this love or thrift it series and I don't even like yellow that much 😂 so, amazing work ❤ Also I love how much sturdier you made the piece 💛
Danie this is one of the most beautiful pieces you’ve ever created. And you did so much good stuff already ! It’s fresh, authentic and screams summer holidays in some cool places in Europe, could be Sweden, Italy, France… it’s a statement piece. Well done 👏🏻 And of course you never take the easy road, all that work in details that most of people wouldn't even start tackling out of laziness. You rock Lady 😊
Hi Danie! Just wanted to say that your videos inspire me continuously to take on tasks bigger than me and to not be afraid of them! And also thanks to you I've developed my design sense better, I learned how to match colour, texture and composition and how to balance tones and shapes! So thank you and keep doing what you do!!!😊
I'm so glad you acknowledged how beautiful that piece was in its original state 😭, but also that redoing a piece so that someone loves it is sometimes more important for our own happiness. Love!
Such a beautiful transformation! I love the color combo but was a bit surprised you didn’t incorporate chartreuse in some way since it was the woman’s fave color. I thought maybe in the drawer. But I love that shade of yellow. Perfect for a kitchen. Well done, Danie! 👏👏👏
Not me wearing a shirt the same yellow as this (gorgeous) piece! 😂 I'm glad they said this is the first step to introducing furniture with bolder colours in their home! 😉
I love how contemporary-yet-timeless this looks. It looks of the moment, but I could also see it lasting for years, and if you said someone painted it for an eclectic, boho look 30 years ago as well, I'd believe you. Love it!
I’m usually so not someone who’s into colourful furniture especially when the original is a beautiful heirloom wood, but I actually love it?? I’m genuinely surprised. It looks bright and elegant and that colour combination is what makes it so. It reminds me of a beach hut and a beach ball, a little bit, in the best way!
Danie! I love the knobs. Reminds me of mattress ticking, which matches the era of the house so much. And the color matches a hutch I did for my kitchen a few years ago before I got ill. So now I really want to add the blue tile!
That colour just makes me so HAPPY 🌞 and makes my heart sing for realllll! The transformation was epic! And the blue tiles and the strips on the knobs and the back just add so much magic. Loved it! 😻
I really appreciate the owners' desire to add some of their personality to the very reasonable, great-for-resale-value, plain white kitchen with black accents we see everywhere these days. It looks nice & there's nothing wrong with the style, but it can be hard to make it reflect your personality 😊
Oh Danie, once again you did a fabulous job on fixing this piece that is in their kitchen and looks so much better. I think that was a great choice of color it really is so pretty. You did such a awesome job in fixing all of the things on this older cabinet, especially the back panels and then that lovely blue tile on the top and cutting that new piece of wood across the top which was damaged and needed to be replaced. You are so incredible at all of the DIYs that you do and also for your friends that make them so impressed that they want to keep them rather than getting rid of them. I always love watching all of your videos because you are so talented and do inspire me to work on some of my projects but I am not as good at doing these things as you are, but luckily I have family that are good at doing things like this. Danie have a great rest of your weekend and I am wishing you a beautiful and blessed day, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂🥰🙏🙏👍🙌💛💙💛💜💜
Great job! My hat off to the person responsible for the choice of the background sound and music. It really added an extra professional touch to your video.
Adult Saturday morning cartoons= DIY Danie. 🎉 That piece is gorgeous and it makes me want to go thrift a hutch like that and do something similar! How fun!!
Look forward to you every week. Love everything! You admit if occasionally a mistake is made and then how u fix. Your humor, your energy and you are so talented as well! 💛💚🧡
Hey ! :) Color is invading our houses again, and it can feel good, invigorating ! You did a great job, as always. I am so respectful of the time you've spent to pick up the material you knew felt right like those wonderful tiles ! I understand too that it must have felt weird to put paint on this beautiful wood, but as you said, better inject life and usefulness to this great piece of furniture, even if it includes painting it, as long as it keeps on living in the familly of those people. And let's be honest, it has become the star of their kitchen ! Very well done ! Sending big hugs and love ! It's always such a good moment to watch you and listen to you ! 💖💝💗
I love this! I would definitely have this in my house if I had the chance! I love that the yellow is not "offensive" and the light blue stripes is the the detail it needed! Great job once again, Danie!❤🌼
Your attention to detail is astounding! I almost always prefer natural wood, but the wood was disintegrating and needed all those repairs and replacements. It's now just wonderful -- I'm once again amazed at how you put artistry together with structure. The only problem is that the rest of the kitchen looks so blah in comparison. But the kitchen can be a canvas for details that go with the wonderful hutch. Bravo Danie!
Love waking up to find your videos on Saturday mornings! This hutch turned out great! I love how the color pops in their kitchen and on the door! Thanks for doing what you do to make the world brighter! ❤️
Great color choice - it is bright, but not like neon or even buttercup. Such a nice punch of color in that white space and of course, yellow and blue, one of my favorite combos.
Wow this is gorgeous so far!! That yellow/blue is actually giving me Southern Europe modern cheekiness- sunshine & lemons juxtaposed against sparkling azure lakes.😱 leaving a comment now because i always forget when the video is over 🥺 love ya!
I love the color! When painting knobs, put the bolts into the knobs and stuff them into foam block. Or keep a scrap of wood with pre-drilled holes specifically for that purpose. Loving the maximalist trend, especially in a more minimalist environment.
Who would put a colorful piece like this in their home?!
I would
Me too! It's a lovely happy piece! 😊
me!! it's giving bright and happy 💛💙
Oh yeah! I love a mustard yellow if it’s not too dull. Great job!
Definitely.
You did an amazing job Danie!!! We're thrilled to have this piece in our home ❤❤❤
It brings such positive vibes and creative energy to your bright kitchen 🌻
I'm glad it is loved! Is it fun to watch the behind the scenes "How it was made" part? 😄
I LOVE it!!
My niece just yelled from the other room, "Hurry up or you'll miss the boop!" 😅
PS We LOVE this piece!!!
Don’t ever stop the surprises of inside doors/drawers!!! It literally makes every peice!!!
I usually don’t like yellow in a house, but the color worked perfect in that space… especially playing off the door color. But, for a piece that had so much wear and tear, you really did make it 100% theirs. Win!!!
I love how you address people watching your videos as ‘friends’. Always makes me smile. Great work as always
It’s officially Saturday because Danie posted!
hurrahhhhh!
Oh Dany, The How To Get Away With Murder Room? ... tsk tsk ... that is CLEARLY the Dexter room 😜
I loved the before version of the hutch and all of its antique coziness, but you made this into something that Kim can love for her kitchen and that’s wonderful!
I love how excited they both were about it. I think this will really help them feel more comfortable experimenting with color in their home. They were adorable and this turned out great.
Happy Saturday! I love yellow! The piece came out so cheerful and beautiful.
Happy Saturday, my diy friend!
I don’t think anyone is ever going to “thrift it” in this series!! They all turn out so beautiful!!
Wow! I love the overall piece (of course) but really love how you bolstered "her ole' bones" and made her strong again
It's so nice to see a lovely, historic but sad and rickety piece of history get rebuilt and made solid and beautiful.
We had a restorer in the town I lived.❤ what I love most about him is he always asked what wear and tear do you want to remain.
The hutch is beautiful.
Cannot tell you how much I LOVE THIS. My house is decorated with these sorts of colours and everyone is always surprised but then they say “It’s so warm and welcoming and cheerful”!! Like YEAHHH! Colour for the win!!! More maximalism please!! 🎉🎉
Great idea of tiling the top, perfection!
Sunshine and sky! Perfect combination .
Love the yellow. 👩🏼🍳💋 Excellent substitute for chartreuse.
I love this series, becouse it is something personal. I like to make things for poeple and I love to see how poeple takle "prompts". I love such kitchen peaces. I had one from my great great grandma...sadly I had to get rid if it.
Beyond how beautiful this is you did such an amazing job of literally rebuilding this piece!! It's a joy to watch your videos.
Have to be honest, I was rooting for the chartreuse somewhere on the piece. 😎Hope Kim & Paul love the update for years. Danie, did you figure out the wood(s) the hutch was made from? Oh, and a Roman shade over their kitchen window in a wild, colorful pattern.😊❤
DYI Danie day! Yeah! The piece is beautiful, as usual. I was so happy to see the paint inside the drawers, that's the Danie touch! 💙
ALWAYS!
What a fantastic makeover on this beautiful piece! So much of it was dirty and unsalvageable before, but the after is clean, bright, and just so fun and colorful! What a happy piece of furniture, I'd definitely use this in my home!
Priming is the way to perfection
And saving on paint- though even mediocre primer is getting expensive too.

You rock Lady 😊
I’m always ready for DIY with Danie. Hello kenobi. Love love love 💕 I had a dress that color back in the day lol
whoo hooo!
Danie, You are so damn “Punny,” and I love it!
Another great transformation, as usual!❤
It's a masterpiece 🎉 you can't tell this DIY anymore! It is craftswomanship at its best ❤ - love it!
Hi Danie! Just wanted to say that your videos inspire me continuously to take on tasks bigger than me and to not be afraid of them! And also thanks to you I've developed my design sense better, I learned how to match colour, texture and composition and how to balance tones and shapes! So thank you and keep doing what you do!!!😊
I love that kitchen and the fabulous pop of color is just what it needed! Perfect.
I imagine you have too many lids in your Tupperware drawer, with you always using containers as vessels for projects! 😂
haha ALWAYS KEEP THE CONTAINERS
I would definitely love a colourful piece like this. Awesome job Dani. 👏👏👏
I'm so glad you acknowledged how beautiful that piece was in its original state 😭, but also that redoing a piece so that someone loves it is sometimes more important for our own happiness. Love!
My god! You put your heart & soul into everything you do! It’s truly impressive & inspiring. Sending big smushy DIY love from Brooklyn, NY 💙
I ❤ how you used her existing bold colors and showed her the mood board too!
Such a beautiful transformation! I love the color combo but was a bit surprised you didn’t incorporate chartreuse in some way since it was the woman’s fave color. I thought maybe in the drawer. But I love that shade of yellow. Perfect for a kitchen. Well done, Danie! 👏👏👏
This is absolutely my favourite series of yours! Like enjoy them so so so much 😊
Not me wearing a shirt the same yellow as this (gorgeous) piece! 😂
I'm glad they said this is the first step to introducing furniture with bolder colours in their home! 😉
right! I love that! LET THE COLOUR MOVEMENT BEGIN!
Yes to maximal decor, yes to neon colors!!!!
yes to COLOR!!!!!
I think it is a great piece the transformation is beautiful I love it! Wonderful work

It's bright and beautiful, just like your personality, Danie 🌞
I never waved! I trust ur vision, danie! It's so beautiful!
Danie! I love the knobs. Reminds me of mattress ticking, which matches the era of the house so much. And the color matches a hutch I did for my kitchen a few years ago before I got ill. So now I really want to add the blue tile!
Good morning all have a safe and blessed weekend 😊
That colour just makes me so HAPPY 🌞 and makes my heart sing for realllll! The transformation was epic! And the blue tiles and the strips on the knobs and the back just add so much magic. Loved it! 😻
I just got my electric electric back on after after our hurricane and I’m so excited to curl up with my coffee and watch Dani😅 on my phone
I really appreciate the owners' desire to add some of their personality to the very reasonable, great-for-resale-value, plain white kitchen with black accents we see everywhere these days. It looks nice & there's nothing wrong with the style, but it can be hard to make it reflect your personality 😊
I did a similar piece 10 years ago in a bold red! It remains my single most favourite and stunning piece to date! 🙂❤🇨🇦
LOVE it!! Makes the room look bigger because it reflects the light rather than absorbing it. I love the color!! Very cheerful and upbeat💛💛💛💛💛

I love 💜 it and would definitely have a bold piece like this. You did a wonderful job, Danie!!!
Love it!💙💛💙 Now they need colorful kitchen bar stools.😊
Great job! My hat off to the person responsible for the choice of the background sound and music. It really added an extra professional touch to your video.
Adult Saturday morning cartoons= DIY Danie. 🎉 That piece is gorgeous and it makes me want to go thrift a hutch like that and do something similar! How fun!!
It's so awesome! Danie, you made it work. The white was a necessary element. Plus, the mustard color! Love the blue tiled "counter." Wonderful!
Look forward to you every week. Love everything! You admit if occasionally a mistake is made and then how u fix. Your humor, your energy and you are so talented as well! 💛💚🧡

I love the imperfect perfection of the knobs. I’ve got rain and Dani on a Saturday!
Love my Saturday mornings with Dani...I'm all primed to take on my projects! Thanks Dani!
Love waking up to find your videos on Saturday mornings! This hutch turned out great! I love how the color pops in their kitchen and on the door! Thanks for doing what you do to make the world brighter! ❤️
Hello amazing diyer. I'm always excited to watch what you do!
i hope you love it!
@@DIYDanie Yep loved ,loved,loved 😍
So glad you're back! Saturdays aren't the same without you!
Great color choice - it is bright, but not like neon or even buttercup. Such a nice punch of color in that white space and of course, yellow and blue, one of my favorite combos.
Awesome transformation yet again, cheers Danie!
I don’t normally like bold colors buuut OMGoodness I loooove it! That is gorgeous! ❤️
Perfection accomplished! You nailed it!🤩
I love these episodes - you really make these pieces shine. Love love love! Can’t wait for the next one!

Very cool! It was such a lovely piece to begin with, glad they both liked the transformation. Nicely done!
Love what you did to the hutch. So much personality. ❤
It's gorgeous! Love the mustard yellow color!!! Great job Dani!
thank you!
❤❤❤❤❤❤ it. Beautiful colour, love the stripes and knobs. Love your personality 🎈🤗👍🇨🇦
Wow this is gorgeous so far!! That yellow/blue is actually giving me Southern Europe modern cheekiness- sunshine & lemons juxtaposed against sparkling azure lakes.😱 leaving a comment now because i always forget when the video is over 🥺 love ya!

Love the fun sunshine it brings to the space! Also great to see Josh again 🎉
What a transformation! Glad they loved it.
Wow it looks amazing love it thankyou for sharing 😊❤
thank you for watching!
My daughter has a friend who redid a piece similar to this, and she chose a yellow similar to yours. It looks wonderful in her kitchen
I love what you did with this hutch! The colours, the tiling ❤
DANG!!! That’s beautiful!!💛🩵
Hi Danie I just finished up the video and the hutch is beautiful I love white and yellow and Blue combination of Stripes is beautiful❤❤❤❤😊
30:49 That lipstick suits you so well, Danie! You have the perfect heart shaped lip for it! 💋
I love it, Dani! I have a similar one I painted white years ago. Now I want to brighten it up. Well done! ❤
I LOVE the transformation!!!!!!!!!
I love this piece!!! They have a beautiful kitchen, but now its even better!!! Great job Danie💙
I love the color!
When painting knobs, put the bolts into the knobs and stuff them into foam block. Or keep a scrap of wood with pre-drilled holes specifically for that purpose.
Loving the maximalist trend, especially in a more minimalist environment.
Wow looks fabulous. I have a cute bureau which I think would look fab in those colours, so thanks for motivational video.
This piece is incredibly fun and functional. Love it!
