Hello, Danie! I'm a hardworking high school teacher located across Lake Ontario from you in Rochester, NY. It just occured to me how long I've been following you and LOVING your stuff, and that I should let you know how much your work means to me. I think the first video I every watched with you was when Vincenzo (and another Italian guy) helped you do a big (table?) epoxy project. You've come so far since then! Anyway, I'm a huge fan and look forward to your postings all week long. I love your weird, honest, can-do energy. In fact, it just occured to me that maybe I want to be you when I grow up (btw, I'm 52). No joke though, I've been thinking about retiring early from teaching and starting a DIY channel of my own. (Maybe? We'll see!) But thanks so much for inspiring me for years now, and keep on DIYing!

Hi. I’m also a fan of the show and also in Rochester, NY! My daughter is a high school math teacher at CCHS. She has three more years to retire and can’t wait! I do not envy teachers today. Wishing you the best!

@@Clovergirl7934 Well, teaching has its advantages and disadvantages, like everything else! Keep in mind that some of the reasons that teachers tend to retire early is because keeping up that level of energy until age 65 is unlikely. That. and I've also known a few people retired from this profession we love in order to have enough money to retire for real!

If the hole for the old door knob on the side of the door is big enough, you could make a tiny little Borrowers’ style room as a hidden treasure. Or hide something else like a Lego figure, a mini painting, crystals, or just paint a little scene in there. It’s possible a tiny battery operated light would fit in there.
Then it’s a hidden treasure to see how many people notice and just bring you joy.

the door is amazing & glad you're happy with the kickplate workaround. the black on the dark wood really helps to make it less obvious & also intentional.
I think I would have probably opted to use some of the cut off timber to fill it in, especially as you cut out a circle disc for the new handle that would be about the right size as the old hole almost. I definitely think that if you're going to have a wash station area that it would be better tucked in the corner here rather than taking up valuable real estate in the middle of the Studio. a landing spot /mudroom / washstation sounds good. Can't wait to see what you end up doing

That door 💖 Danie I used one of those electric pumps for water gallons (I don't know how to describe it in a better way) to make a make shift sink in my garage. It doesn't provide a lot of water per second but I can wash my hands or a paint brush without having to come into the house to do it. I used two of those big water "bottles" (english is not my main language obviously), one with water connected to the faucet pump thingy and I drilled a hole into a bowl (that ended up being my sink) where the dirty water goes. I don't know if I made sense, but my sistem works really well for me. You just have to dispose the dirty water from times to times and fill the other one with clean water when it empties. Hope this idea of mine helps someone who might need it. Lot's of love from a Portugal fan 🥰

    The DOOR LOOKS FAB!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Because of the Victorian Edwardian style of said door, I see a possible Steampunk moment in the coffee/tea/snack bar to pay homage to that time period. Something like a tall Vic/Edw piece with a center mirror to reflect light and be a melding statement with flush framing like bars of that time. Woodtones, a beautiful counter, storage underneath. A found piece from a salvage place maybe. Just an idea. Brass fixtures...

  • @JlNXED

For the old hole in the door you could cut it into a rectangle with the jigsaw then make a template and put it on the piece you cut off the door then you can glue it in place fill it with wood filler or make a mix with the sawdust to fill in the gaps and then use wood crayons to make it look natural then clear coat it to give it a seamless look
For the entry way I would use the space next to the green built in as a space to place bags and jackets could make a bench with hooks or have a coat rack, on the right would be a great space for a coffee and snack area, could also use it to add shelves with buckets of art supplies like brushes and such since you’re thinking of putting the sink there. could have some cabinets on bottom to store cleaning supplies as well. Could give the sink a built in look by putting a cabinet front on hinges and a push to open system so when you need to empty it you can just push and open it.

The door is beautiful. I love the glass and the touch of green is perfect, my favorite for color for home decor. My suggestion - to the right of the door - your intended wash station and a coffee bar/drink station.
Narrow counter, small fridge, under counter, off to one side and pen shelves above. Counter and shelves, the same color as the door.

Beautiful door. I have to agree with some of the commenters though… It would have been nice to raise the door to not lose the proportions at the bottom, and to either fill in the hole with wood or perhaps another proportion could have helped if covering with metal. Everyone is different. I see some love the metal. It doesn’t look like a door plate to me-more like a patch and something the eye is drawn to that takes away from the rest of the door. I will say… I hate to be critical. You do amazing work and I think my perfectionism sometimes stops me from getting things done. That said. If there is another solution to fixing the hole still, I think it would look a lot better, as well as the idea you mentioned of a kick plate or something horizontal at the bottom to help with creating the illusion of a bit more of a border and proportion at the bottom of the door to remedy that chopped off vibe.

You are such a bright light to my Saturday mornings. Love how the green cabinets are echoed in the green glass of the door.
For the area beside the door, I think start with a bench for people to put their stuff down and let that flow into a counter top for your hot/cold combos and wash station. There are a lot of people who have converted vans to travel in that use that pump sink you had mentioned in your video. I think you could make that look really lovely.
Almost wish you could have put in some kind of dumb waiter to bring the really heavy stuff up and down the stairs (like the water for your pump sink). But, you could definitely build muscle this way!

Oh Danie that door is so beautiful and you fixing that old open spot with the black metal looks so great, and making it a bit shorter by sawing the bottom off that much gives you that pretty wood to build a shelf. The trim around the door really looks so good and also along the bottom of the walls. This space is really looking so gorgeous and is a great work area for you. I think having like a coffee area with a way to have some water to clean things would be so essential for you as a hard worker. Great work Danny!! The door looks Amazing! Yes, yes on the coffee/drink station beside the door. Also maybe that’s where you could hang your beautiful DIY Danny sign from the shack. A beautiful nod from the past. Always looking forward have a great day you’re awesome!!🙌🏼👏🏼🫶🏼❤️

You really are the one that knows what is needed there but I wish you would paint that one diagonal wall of funky color because you’ve got the the intense green and that would just be fun just to see something that you would not normally see instead of Machi Machi

It’s a beautiful door, Dani. I imagined a beautiful old ornamental piece to cover your old doorknob hole, though. I really enjoy your Saturday videos.

STUNNNNNNING!! The door is amazing but I truly think the 'kick plate' makes it pop, it looks like an old bank or post office door.

…CAPTAIN’S quarters …I thought it said CONTAINS quarters and was trying to figure out if it came from a piggy bank 😂. That makes so much more sense!

Good morning and happy Saturday!! The door looks perfect! I absolutely love the touch of stained glass. That side wall looks like the perfect spot for a little mini fridge kitchen area with the washing up sink. Maybe put a hook on the wall for bags- keep them off the floor and off the counters.

A Belfast sink on top of an old unit as a vanity with a fresh water and grey water tank storage underneath would look stunning as a wash station xx

I genuinely feel like we need a more creative doorknob! I fun short on you painting a custom ceramic knob with those pens you featured would be amazing or a vintage glass knob
