I agree. I love the raw wood, especially how you cut out the drawer and cabinet fronts for continuous wood grain. You could always put colour on the inner edges of the drawers or fun liners, and have fun with the hardware.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through tough times. If you need to take a break from filming, your fans will be here when you come back. It’s more than ok. ❤
LOVE the raw wood, especially the way you have the pattern together on the drawers!! Beautiful. If you change your mind later on, you can always paint over it.
Hugs and Prayers you are feeling back to yourself soon!!! Take your time, rest your mind, that we will always be here for you. You are the best thing to happen to Saturday Morning since Bugs Bunny, when I was 7, and I am 64. Love you Dani! Be well!
definitely no paint, you did such a good job maintaining the grain direction on those drawers, raw or stained with a coat of poly.. give it that upscale utilitarian look
I can totally relate to being in a creative desert. A word of advice from someone who loves your channel. When my creative mojo is zero, I go to thrift stores, antique stores, specialty wood stores, art shows, craft shows, galleries and museums. It fills me with such a creative euphoria. Maybe take us along for some of these field trips under the guise of ‘finding inspiration’. That’s all part of it too, right? Please know that we don’t expect a diy crafting project every episode. ❤
I would keep the grain visible with just a clear coat on the plywood. En bring in colour by attaching fun colourful knobs, going by the colours in the stained glass above the cabinet. I love how your cabinet turned out. Kudos for doing this while feeling not entirely great. Love from Nl.
Just let the natural wood show ,put a protected coat of clear vanish, wood is beautiful, I love your videos and God bless you Always!!, you motivate me in crafting!!!❤😅😊
Thank you for being real with us. You have no obligation to the universe or us to be 'okay' all the time. It wouldn't be possible anyway! I love seeing the wood pattern on the front of the drawers.
From one not okay person to another, I hear you and you aren’t alone. It’s okay to not be okay. Take your time in feeling better. Sending you hugs and strength.
Dani, that is an amazing accomplishment! Beautifully constructed. You asked for feedback… I suggest you finish it to show off the plywood design. So very thoughtfully designed and executed. Then when you look at it, let it be your “feel good” project so you are reminded and given regular testimony to your talents. The ups and downs can defeat us at times as we go through the groan zones of life. As they say, this too shall pass. Hugs and gratitude.❣️
You did wonderful on cabinet. Looks fabulous. You are a great cabinet maker. I’m sending healing mental energy and strength your way. Hope you remember to be good to yourself. Selfcare as you know is very important.
I’m a designer and Wow!! Dani! This is one of my favorite builds! It looks fantastic. I love the continuous wood grain across the drawers. Put a simple wax all over the whole thing and leave it! It’s soo pretty. They make thin drawer pulls, I’d recommend doing something minimal like that. And for the top? If you do the wax, I would keep it all cohesive with the same wood top, but finish the edge of the counter top with a knife edge or something like that.
As for you drawer and cabinet doors, I think I would take advantage of the fact the lovely matching grain that flows across it. Maybe a light color stain to enhance it, then a satin finish. As for you, please take care of yourself. We love you.
I can feel you smiling through the pain. I’m going through it as well and know how hard it is to keep my normal energy that others are used to. Virtual hug from Hawai‘i. 🌺
You do you Danie!! On particularly rough days when you are sure you can't possibly endure, I'd like to remind you that your track record for getting through bad days so far is 100% and that's pretty damn good!!😘❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I remember the last time drawers were made as well. I cried then too! As soon as you mentioned the goal for this week's episode, I went there. Oh my dear sweet baby Jesus, please be with Danie. You did it. I truly love having the drawer fronts from one piece. Keep the grain! It's a Workshop! Plywood is our friend! Of course, there was never any doubt...😢 I will say that I was really hoping someone was with you and there was Jess!
I have been here since way before the beginning of the evolution of this garage/studio build. But as this building evolves, we as humans also evolve. Sometimes during our lives things happen to us or around us that can have a great impact on our mental health. Just remember to acknowledge that how we feel is okay even if it's not okay. Time has a way of moving us through those feelings and some take a lot longer than others. But eventually we all evolve from a pile of dirt to something more substantial, just like the garage/studio build. Building the garage/studio was hard. It was and still is evolving and becoming a beautiful thing. Also building our life is hard and constantly evolving. But it is most definitely a beautiful thing. Hang in there my sweet creative DIY Elf.❤🌺
I commented on your last video about seasons. And after I did I heard and something that struck me and wanted to share it with you. They related things to a plant. Some times your roots have to go a little deeper to support the best bloom. Right now I see you as a root getting stronger in the struggle to be a very beautiful bloom
I think a sealer/light (almost not noticeable) stain and then cute Scandinavian designs around the corners of the drawers like with that dresser you did a while back! Like the best of both worlds of what you were deciding on- rawish wood and color pop!
Great work! I agree, Dani, the plywood front came out so beautiful with all that grain detail! Understanding your desire for color, what about doing a colorful stain or thin paint that would still show the wood grain? And, of course, multiple stain colors would also be an option :) Sorry you're feeling low but, DANG girl, you kept going! I know that takes a lot. You're doing great, you **Magical Creature!** 💛🌈🌄
Love this build!! Love the way you cut out the drawer fronts so the grain flows!! It'd be a shame to cover that with paint. Idea of painting the edges is cool!! Maybe paint the top too for that extra punch of color😁
have you considered a laminate countertop? You could wrap plywood in it. Its super durable and cleans up easily. You can also find it it tons of colors too. Idea: Keep the wood fronts (it is beautiful) but bring the color with the countertop. Maybe a green to mirror the storage and door on the other side of the room? Just a thought :) Love this series and the way you honor creativity. Take care!
O dani if u only knew how many laughs u give us in this world of darkness..we love u and im praying for you.. Whatever you're going through..keep strong an do not let it get to ya! U are incredibilty creative and beautiful an strong!
I love the idea of painting the drawers and leaving the remainder natural. You know that you are such an inspiration to us, but Danie, pls give yourself grace and do what you need to do for your own health. We will be here supporting you every single day! 🩷🥹
I've been having the same brain issues - I hate when I get into the lows but I'm trying to remind myself when I am in the highs to stay on top of my healthy routines to see if I can beat the lows better next time. BTW I had complete faith that you would make those drawers fabulous!
I suppose there's comfort to be had in that most people are going through stuff in our personal lives at some point and we carry on with our working lives the best we can in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. Whether we share our difficulties or not is a totally personal choice- but 'work' can definitely be valuable respite too 😊
I have so many things I want to comment. So I’ll probably leave a few. But as an immediate - I REALLY like the plywood. I don’t think it needs to be painted actually but love the idea of a mish mash of really cool and colorful drawer pulls. (And maybe some kind of colorful countertop? Like a white with sparkles and bits of colored pieces in it. No idea how plausible that is, ahaha)
I’m really glad you called out giving yourself grace in this video. You strike me as someone very similar to myself - we are quick to have empathy and kindness for all around us but can struggle to have that same empathy and kindness for ourselves. It’s tough but so incredibly important to continue to work on. If I could send anything your way it would be the strength and resilience to continue on allowing yourself the grace, empathy, and kindness you readily provide others. I look forward to your videos every week, they bring me an immense amount of joy and inspiration. I love how you combine creativity and practicality and utility into your projects but also engage in creativity and art just for the sake of it. Wishing you the best from Philly ❤
This was my thought as well! They used to make counter tops with recycled glass. Don't know if they still do, but maybe you could create something similar. Love to you!
Don't forget stain doesn't have to be some sort of brown. I had a kitchen where the cabinets were stained blue, green, and orange. It's a great way to add subtle color and keep that gorgeous grain! Because come on, that cut is ah-maz-ing!! Love love love the look!! Xoxo
I’m sorry for how hard life seems for you right now. I hope you feel better soon. I admire your persistence and tenacity in getting these cabinets and drawers built. You really are amazing. It came out beautifully and so functional. Take care of yourself, Dannie.
Being so real and open about your journey really helps me, I started online therapy because you shared! Like you I sometimes need a cleaning or organizing project, I also do my little self care ritual, good book, cup of tea, and cozy blanket, treating myself like a child (80 yr old) 😆but I must say I think your cabinets were really creative! By the way I can’t do math at all when I am upset, and struggle with it even at other times! I have a masters degree in Social Work so otherwise I get bye!
SaturDIY yay crappy weather but inside it’s the amazing Danie making cool stuff and fixing my grumpy cat mood. I need storage but it’s raining I’m not going out. Sending hugs and love. When I get like that I push myself to do simple stuff cleaning, doodling need to let the creative juices free.
I think the raw wood element In the space would be best. And in the future you could always paint/stain it! Best thing when our heart and brain are at odds is to keep it simple. Sending you all my warm good vibes your way! ✌️💜
First of all you are right you need to give yourself grace … I love sassy Danie ( and all the other Danie’s) after my mom died I went to a dark place and DIY crafting and RUclipsrs like you pulled me out of my darkness, finishing things felt great like a nod to my mom. For the cabinet I get a vibe of healing , magic , and creativity … but subtle not in your face … sending you hugs , now take a deep breath and inhale lots of love in and lots of love out … Even though we can’t help you in 3d believe that we support you … Side note great idea about the coffee bar ( mine would be a chai latte bar ) also I’m so looking forward to your garden , it’s inspired me to plant some things , did you know you can grow watermelon in Canada … cheers , smile it looks good on you ! ( sorry I might be adhd but never officially diagnosed) p.s. grammatical and spelling errors brought to you by my iPhone ❤
I’m so proud of you for pushing through , you have done a beautiful job. I am not sure if you believe in God Dani but I will be praying for you I appreciate who you are and your lovely creative place in this world. May you have renewed joy and grace for yourself and the journey you are on!!!
Dani, thanks for showing the real life of a creative. I hope things calm down and you can refill your creative well. We all need downtime in order to do that. The winter blues are brutaland and it's a good time to pamper yourself. Sending lots of love from Utah and another creative going through stress, depression, and not a spark of an idea in my soul. Instead, I'm decluttering my space, hoping if I clean and organize, my Muse will decide to gift me with her presence once again. ❤
As someone else said, it’s ok to not be ok, just remember that your “not ok” is never to be minimized as “but I don’t have as big an issue/problem/sadness as so-and-so.” You are human, you are beautiful, you are gifted, you are worthy, you are inspiring, and you are REAL. Put your heart and mind first, we faithful fans will still be here for you. Peace and strength to ya, girl!
I don't know what you're going through, but as someone who is going through a tough time herself, all I can say is that you've got this. If it takes a while or not, you'll get there!
Oh! Oh ! Make yourself a cute first aid kit maybe something out of an old little makeup luggage or something you can hang on the wall.. how exciting! (You know in your spare time)😂
I would keep the ply with a clear satin varnish. Add simple mismatched colourful pulls picking out the glass colors above and perhaps the top in Formica or similar in one of those colors. You have inspired me to tackle an understairs storage project I have been putting off for a couple of years! Look forward to seeing you fill it ❤
'just normal things my brain can figure out".... Love, we watched you build custom drawers before.... Nothing normal in that process, ITS HARD! Gotta remember to give yourself grace, especially on the hard days 💕💕💕💕
I’m so impressed with your talent! I love it so much!! I’m excited to see what’s next!! I love the rawness of the wood grain. Maybe a darker stained top and white washed drawers. Or lime washed. You can add color and creativity in the knobs. Whatever you do, I’m excited for it!!
Sending good vibes! I think it would be really cool to experiment with colorful wood stains like blue, green, pink, purple, red, etc! Great way to keep the wood grain and add color! Excited to see what you do with it!
I LOVE your videos. Your genuine creative energy is a breath of fresh air. Your ideas and creations are beautiful. Thank you for being genuine and transparent because you inspire and motivate me. Thank you for your channel and videos.
I love how you kept the wood grain together. This is a fantastic piece. I would do the top, drawer fronts, and doors a nice dark walnut and then paint the front plywood edges a fun color.
There's this saying that you can't create in fight or flight and honestly I really believe that. It must feel really hard to show up for yourself and for us right now, just wanted to say you're amazing and so loved ❤️ the creative flow will return when the mental clutter clears, I promise. Mine took years to come back after my husband had cancer, but it did and it took as long as it needed to. I totally understand the urge to clean when you're feeling like this - just go with it! 😅🤷🏼♀️ Love everything you do you don't always have to be the most upbeat, your people will always appreciate seeing your face, even if your brain is full of fog
I’m so sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I love to watch your videos and you never fail to impress me with your work and put a smile on my face. Hang on in there and have a virtual hug 🤗
Absolutely gorgeous - and you did it and pushed through! 💜 Maybe not the most cost-effective, but a stone top like slate (etc.) to the cabinets would bring in a beautiful, natural, durable element to your already special and spectacular space.
It looks soooo good is this war wood! I would only edge band the glass divider... but also, maybe some folk art?! Maybe something like Feyre does with her limited paint colours when they still lived in the village with her sisters and father?! 👀 And if the pocket holes on the sides are really bothering you, you can always plug some dowels to hide it 🤷🏻♀ I'm also so impressed you did all of this in a week! That's just amazing! And I can't wait to see what you come up with in the end! Lots of love and good energy!
Great job on these cabinets! That’s a lot of work that paid off. I’m with everyone who says keep the wood on the front. Maybe add color or design pops with the pulls and knobs. Also, what about trying to find a stone remnant for the countertop? Quartz is not crazy expensive and remnants are even cheaper. Absolutely loving this series! Sending you love and support!!!❤❤❤
Make a calming scene for your counter top like a running stream or a mountain range or even an abstract fabric art piece and then cover it with epoxy resin. You could even use a fallen tree from the woods.
That storage unit is awesome - I am so impressed with your cabinet making skills. I think that plywood is beautiful, I would either leave it raw or do a light wash, maybe with some color, but that still lets all that wood grain easily show through. Or as you said, paint some of it for a pop of color. However, you don't want to steal the show from the stained glass above, so nothing too crazy. Sorry that you are struggling right now, not unusual for this time of year when the big holidays are behind us and it is the worst part of winter - I know, I am over it and just waiting for spring. We need light and warmth again. We have a full moon coming up this Wednesday, a good time to tap into that energy and gain strength for whatever lies ahead. Hang in there, baby.
I got you. Totally understand. Your ❤. Give yourself grace. The creative juice will unlock. You inspire so many. You are loved. Thank you fir sharing. It's OK to not be OK. We are supporting you. ❤
Totally get it! To help me organize I bought 4 three drawer plastic dressers that are stackable and stacked two on top of each other. Then I bought those Walmart wardrobe bar on wheels (hint: to keep them from coming apart, put Gorgilla glue inside each section as you put it together and let set overnight) Then I put the stacked dressers on the two bat's at the bottom of the wardrobe on wheels, used zip ties to hold it on on each side and now I have a 6 drawer dresser/organizer on wheels! ❤
I love the grains of the wood in the cabinet! I love the idea of a nostalgia top. Maybe heavy with resin but pictures and memorabilia underneath. Love you Danie! And thank you for diying!
Danie, just so you know -- I always go to your video first on Saturday morning. I'm so sorry you're going through a hard time; hope all is better soon. As far as the cabinet goes, you went to all the trouble to make the grain continuous across the drawer fronts so I think you should stain it (or even just a topcoat and leave it natural? ) Throw a little edge banding on where needed and call it good. The whole thing looks great and the workspace is looking so good!
I was in awe of your hair this morning and then you said you were putting a hat on and I said "nooooo its perfection today!!" But I get it girl! Thanks for making my Saturday morning hot cold drink combo a perfect moment today!
Danie, I love the cabinet!!! I think the wood grain looks great in your studio (maybe put a protectant is a light stain… As far as the topper, I think colorful tiles with all kinds of hues would look great and be eye catching in front your stain glass panes… You’re a colorful person in sometimes a black and white world… thanks for your channel and I hope your heart starts to feel light again… One way or another “this to shall pass” be strong and surround yourself with the people you love (and pets!) 😘
Love, love this cabinet! What an amazing build! Raw wood with the color accents would be so much fun. A top covered in metal, like copper would age with a cool patina. Thank you for being open about mental health & sharing how you manage. Being dyslexic myself I smiled knowlingly when you drilled the pocket holes on the wrong side
Hi Danie, First let me say, from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling. Whatever it is that is causing your stress or struggle I pray it is resolved quickly and with as little stress and/or pain as possible! You are such a bright spot in my week and I know that takes alot of energy for you to show up for us when you down. Please know we appreciate you more then can be expressed in one comment on RUclips! Second If it was me I would clear coat the front of the new storage unit because that running grain pattern, to die for! I would do a fun and durable color for the top with an epoxy clear coat over that to make indestructible! ❤❤ lots of love, Tana
I agree, tidying can feel like a therapy. I heard it's because when loosing control in real life, it helps feeling control somewhere, within the cleaning process. Drawers is a whole journey ! I did my kitchen, and the drawers, and I have to fix them one by one in time, had not a good technique like yours at the time. between the ridiculous amount of wood cuts ! making it square ! managing the right spacing for the slides ! Everything ! I like your idea with L brakets to space the drawers fronts. I struggle so much with cabinet hardware that I don't have the doors on my kitchen, but I cut the wood and bought the cabinet hardwares at the time. Just needing to figure out the right space to draw the holes for the doors to be well placed and leveled (I know we can play a little, but I mean, only a little hey xD). I looooove the result, you managed it so well ! You are no longer afraid of drawers, drawers shall be afraid of you !!!! GG ! 💖💖
Every time I have seen you posted you make my day. You are a wonderful person and I hope you get to feeling better. Prayers are with you. The cabinet looks great. I think paint the drawers all the same color and stain the top. Thank you for another great video, have a great weekend and get you some rest.
Ohhhhh paint the shell a beautiful green (like evergreen fog or dried thyme) and then stain the drawer and door fronts like a beautiful medium tone, like natural walnut color kind of vibe. That would be so stunning!
Truly appreciate that you are so authentic in your videos ❤. That is one of the many reasons your channel is my favorite! For the cabinets, a wood dye would be a fun option! Keep the grain and get the hit of color.
I would keep it raw for now, that way if I wanted to have a creative change down the road I could paint it! You really did a great job on the cabinets.
I love the way you chose to match the grain on the drawers...it looks fantastic! I'd put a matte clear sealer on it and show off your hard work and ingenuity.
Prayers rising that your life and all your background things resolve themselves and make you happy! Thank you so much for your inspiration and instructional videos…love watching you soooo much.
Love that you continue to be authentic and honest. Hoping every day brings you a bit more clarity and peace. I love the continuous grain pattern you achieved! I think clear coat for ease of cleaning! Maybe a cool resin pour counter, all color, swirls and galaxy-esque! 🌟
dani you are are real creative person...slumps happen ofter and then the creative streak takes hold and off we go again...whatever you are going through..go through
Raw raw raw! I love the idea of painting the front and sealing the raw plywood. It's too perfectly done to cover it with paint or even stain.
The raw wood gives all your stain glass their moment.❤
I agree. I love the raw wood, especially how you cut out the drawer and cabinet fronts for continuous wood grain. You could always put colour on the inner edges of the drawers or fun liners, and have fun with the hardware.
Agree you did any amazing job Danie!! Looks great!
YEAS!!!!! Perfect! Love raw wood! A sealant of sorts, be it a clear finish, but not a gloss, yet, something that really brings out the wood grain.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through tough times. If you need to take a break from filming, your fans will be here when you come back. It’s more than ok. ❤

You bring so much joy into everyone's lives. I'd love it if there could be a hashtag for all of your creative beasts to share their creative spaces xx
thank you xx Maybe we should start using #creativebeast
Just let the natural wood show ,put a protected coat of clear vanish, wood is beautiful, I love your videos and God bless you Always!!, you motivate me in crafting!!!❤😅😊
❤ the hashtag idea - I just might create a ‘shorts’ video, a slideshow, of my diy attempts hmmmm maybe 😂
You, my lady, are a warrior ! ❤ love

Those drawer fronts look incredible!! I love the continuous grain. Also this was such a huge endeavor and you did an amazing job!
Totally with you on having the drive to clean and organize when stressed. So valid, and so relatable.
Glad I'm not the only one! My house never looks cleaner when i'm super stressed or down lol
@@DIYDaniecleaning therapy! I don’t do it well in sadness, but rage-cleaning gets some 💩 DONE in my house!

It’s ok not to be ok ❤
Yes, it's 100% OK to not be OK.

You do some amazing work, I love it.keep it raw it's beautiful just add a clear coat to make the grain pop.

You're a wizard. Look how awesome that cabinet is. You could build a kitchen!
Dang! If that’s what you accomplish when you’re feeling off, I can’t wait to see more when you’re on! Amazing!!
Sending you tons of love, Danie. You got this, girl!

I love what you did with the drawer front. I’d leave the grain natural. Then when you’re tired of it, you can paint it and it’s a whole new unit.
You are my HERO! Life throws challenges at you, but you find ways to cope and deal - challenge accepted!!! 💯

Your cabinet boxes are so pretty! They’re not finished. They’re sitting on top of your workbench in the garage and I still just love them!
When I get like that I push myself to do simple stuff cleaning, doodling need to let the creative juices free.
yeees! Doodling is always fun! Turn that grumpy cat frown upside down! 😊
I think the raw wood element In the space would be best. And in the future you could always paint/stain it! Best thing when our heart and brain are at odds is to keep it simple. Sending you all my warm good vibes your way! ✌️💜
YES! Keep it simple! Great advice.
The winter months with the cold, dreary days takes a toll. Take care of yourself and plan some light-hearted fun things to do with your loved ones! ❤
For someone that says your going through a rough time, you've created a wonderful storage cabinet to be magga proud of, 🎉🎉🎉Blummin well done you..❤❤❤
that cabinet is a magnificent beast. well done Danie. Hang in there! xoxo
Look forward to seeing you fill it ❤
Hang in there Danie. I'm with you. ❤🕊️ I agree, there's a lot to be said for cleaning when you are feeling low.
I personally love the wood. You could use a fun color stain...the best of both worlds. You can see the matching wood grain in a fun color!
What a great cabinet! I'll be interested to see how you finish it. But also, a water cooler! Now you and Vanessa can stand near it and gossip! 😀
Have you thought about resin? Or a live edge wood resin combo? You could even backlight it for a soft glow.
Oooh, maybe a color resin and wood top, love this! I think Sam @dyihuntress did something similar with her Dad?
It looks soooo good is this war wood! I would only edge band the glass divider... but also, maybe some folk art?! Maybe something like Feyre does with her limited paint colours when they still lived in the village with her sisters and father?! 👀
And if the pocket holes on the sides are really bothering you, you can always plug some dowels to hide it 🤷🏻♀
I'm also so impressed you did all of this in a week! That's just amazing! And I can't wait to see what you come up with in the end!
Lots of love and good energy!
I like the natural swirls of the plywood. I reckon you should paint the swirls fun colours on some of the drawer fronts
I really would love to see this! ❤
Using L brackets as spacers was genius for the drawers!! I'd oil the drawer fronts and leave them, its lovely to see the grain flowing!
sending you so much love Danie! Hope you feel our love, coming from you from all over the world
That storage unit is awesome - I am so impressed with your cabinet making skills.
I think the wood grain looks great in your studio (maybe put a protectant is a light stain…
As far as the topper, I think colorful tiles with all kinds of hues would look great and be eye catching in front your stain glass panes…
You’re a colorful person in sometimes a black and white world… thanks for your channel and I hope your heart starts to feel light again… One way or another “this to shall pass” be strong and surround yourself with the people you love (and pets!) 😘
Hi Danie,
First let me say, from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling.
GG ! 💖💖
You will be ok again and you will get through whatever you are going through. Sending you light and love. Take care of yourself. ❤
Hugs and love and peace and fun to you ✨😊
I would keep it raw for now, that way if I wanted to have a creative change down the road I could paint it!
I know you hate creating these organizing systems but they make my heart sing❣️ You're the best. Thank you!
7:50 I feel you!! ❤ Stress affects how we think! Sending you love!! 💓
Love that you continue to be authentic and honest. Hoping every day brings you a bit more clarity and peace. I love the continuous grain pattern you achieved! I think clear coat for ease of cleaning! Maybe a cool resin pour counter, all color, swirls and galaxy-esque! 🌟
dani you are are real creative person...slumps happen ofter and then the creative streak takes hold and off we go again...whatever you are going through..go through
I love when you make things! It doesn’t even have to be fancy!
