Hi Deb , really enjoyed your tour. You have made such a beautiful place to spend time during all your adventures. I got at least two new ideas from you. Yay. Hope to see again at the WRTR this year. Safe travels💕
Your video is fantastic. So many people do not show the finer points and functionality of their van. I like that you show people what is in all your bins & hidey holes. Those just starting out really need to see that. You use your space well. You are the only other person I've seen who used cubicle clips. Those little things are a game changer. 'T pins' are another great way to get stuff to hold to the roof of a van. Thank you for sharing your build.
I cut a piece of plywood in two pieces drilled holes along edges and zip tied it to the cot frame. I can fold cot for storage when not in use with plywood attached. No more sag!!
Hi Deb. I just subscribed cause you are nice to listen to, you had a bunch of handy ideas and seem friendly. All of these qualities are important to me. Hope to see you down the road, if I ever get my rig ready. Thanks. I'm from Central Oklahoma
Thanks so much for the compliments and subscribing! I appreciate your support! It took me 3 years to get my van together. Just start with what you have and add little by little once you see what you need! Let me know if you make it out west. I'm in Southern Nevada.
I like the wire shelf, spices in pills container, your colorful fabrics, your assembling poo pot to show us how. Two 500 watt Jackerys, eyeglass hanger, rare eart magnates and pipe strapping to hang curtains. No one else had a brush to clean off boots and shoes. Thank you for the tour.
Hi Deb!😊 thank you for sharing your no-build van build! ❤ Thank you for the many useful tips for those of us who are longing to do what you are doing. Wishing you safe travels and many happy adventures .😊❤
Oh now that would keep me away forever. I've only had issues with Flys and knats keeping me awake. I have encountered rattlesnakes, scorpions and coyotes doing photography in the desert. None in my van thank goodness. Appreciate you watching!
I like those carts in the rear window cup holder area. I need something to make use of that space as a night stand and I have one of those carts. I will be giving that a try, thanks
Like the toilet AND the cover. Making one before my next trip. I have an REÍ toilet (bucket w plastic bags). Thank you for sharing very important for us.
Our van builds are very similar. The pine pellets have helped quite a bit! The camp stove is one that I’ve been looking at for awhile, and green as though it’s my next purchase. Safe travels!
Hey Deb, very nice build. I really like the spice "holder." The "slim cart" is really wonderful! The Faerie Lights are sweet. QUESTION: Have you had any issues w/rodents with regards to your dry food storage? Have a beautiful & blessed day & safe travels. LUCRETIA
@cherylbabrick1482 just curious how they get inside with the doors closed? I spray under the hood and tires with peppermint spray to keep them from eating wires.
What a great idea for a privacy curtain. I already have the table you have strapped behind your front seat. I like that you put in little insets of the shelves and the bed, as well as the lists of the products you were covering. Be safe.
OMGoodness!!!! Your set up is so cute. Thanks for sharing. Btw...the car curtains are exactly what I've been looking for. Really appreciate you including a link and happy that you'll get a little cash from my purchase. ; )
Thank you for sharing your experience with traveling life. It looks like freedom at it best. I think I would get lonesome though while I like dogs or a cat they cannot share ideas and experiences. Best wishes and hopes for your safety and happiness.
I am having a friend help me make a bed to replace my Ozark Trails cot I’ve been using with my 4” mattress on top. I have problems feeling the items beneath my cot as well, and hope that I can relax more on a platform. I also will be gaining several inches in length as I’m not long enough for the entire cot. Thanks for sharing
Sounds great! I like the length of my cot. But used to a more firm base. I had a Zinus frame but when my husband slept on it for a few weeks during our move it bent. So much for a 750 pound weight limit 😒
I really like your setup every thing you need I’m looking for a van myself I’ve been watching van life for years the way to go for many reasons I subscribed so I’ll be checking you out great job ❤
I am looking forward to a cruise in October 2025 ending in your city! Maybe you can point me in the right direction on best places to see. I will be there 2 or 3 days.

You are so organized. I'm envious. I recently bought a Dodge Grand Caravan and it's currently crammed to the gills. Not much organization. I had a Nissan Cube which my nephew helped me build out. I lost it, and most things in it during a Texas thunderstorm when I went into a ditch. I bought the wrong cot frame because I was able to salvage my trifold mattress. But it's smaller than the cot so don't know if it will work out. I bought storage from thrift stores and they're not that attractive but functional. It helps me to see what you've done and I got quite a few good ideas. Thank you so much.
Awwww so sorry about your Cube. Thrifting is great. It's not about pretty, but functional. I'm only very part time so I don't need to carry much. If I was full time I'd have to sleep in a tent.. About your mattress, is it too shot? You may be able to get a piece of foam to add to it? Let's brainstorm a solution!
Hi Deb, I love your setup ! I have a similar setup in my Honda Odyssey and find it very efficient, but I’ve gotten a few ideas from you. what brand of camp toilet do you have ? Is it a separating toilet ? I’m currently using a 5 gallon luggable loo. I think yours is smaller. I like that you use the wood pellets, they work great. Also love the toilet cover 😊 that adds a lovely touch ❤

I rise at day break clean up dress up make tea l cup of tea. Check all is well with vehicle checkout the off to next over night campground to same routine. I have camped all my life. I sold my 28ft two years ago after getting hit by a 3 axle pick up truck walking to store. I can’t wait!
I have issues driving at night. That's one of my main reasons for the camper idea. Then after I retired hotels were not in my budget. Sounds like you have a great system there!
Hi Deb..thanks for this great video. I love your idea for the privacy curtain but I wanted to ask how the pipe strapping stays in place like that. Thanks 😊😊
Hello! The strapping is placed in the edge of the pillars by the windows, then cubicle clips in between. In the center I slid it into the button that holds the headliner up. It stays up there really well. Appreciate you watching, have a great day!
Hi Deb....I've just found your site and was wondering what you do for screen covers on your windows so you can leave them open at night? I have the toyota sienna and travel to dog events with my 5 Labrador retrievers. Hotels don't allow that many dogs, so i would like a solution for putting screen on the sliding door windows so it can stay open a bit with out anyone getting eaten alive. I have crates inside for the dogs and plan on occasion to sleep in the front seat, so I don't worry about the dogs. I cannot put my seat back as the crates are there, so will look for a solution to lay lengthwise with some of the ideas you've shared. The screen thing is the one that i'm working on though. I also have a canopy i can back the van under in case it rains over night. Thanks bunches and have a super day. `cheers from another Debbie.
Hi Debbie! I I installed screens on the wing and sliding door windows. I used an idea from Rootless Wanderer for the wing windows. Only supplies needed were regular window screen in a roll from Home Depot or similar, scissors and an old store card or old credit card. Look for her video. On the sliders, materials were same screening, tiny binder clips, scissors and old store card. Used the last of 3 ideas on Travel Grandma channel. I wish I made videos now on how I did mine. But right now in Vegas it's too hot to even show mine. Of you have any questions feel free to ask! I'm here chilling!
I thought of 2 other things to keep your dogs cool. 1st is a windshield cover- the one you put on the outside of the windshield to keep snow off. I’ve used one and it helps a lot. Also I’ve heard of others using the aluminex blankets to put over their roof. I have one but have never tried it. You can find both of these on Amazon!
I love watching vanlifers, as I am desiring to become one myself, but it would be nice if the person would have someone else hold the camera while they are explaining the details of their van, because of to much bouncing, dizzy, closeups ..just a tip for us onlookers 😏
I’ve been watching these types of videos for a long time, and I’d like to do it too. If I was more outdoorsy and used to camping. (Not having a bathroom looks like a big adjustment) and if we didn’t have all 4 seasons where I live, I’d like to do it here and continuing to work for about a year to save up money before I can go travel to the better areas you see people stay.
Hi Laura, I got the shelves on Amazon. Here is the link. There are some others that aren't so deep. Just search slim rolling cart. I just didn't use the wheels. Appreciate you watching! a.co/d/bY6dGvJ
It's plumbing pipe strapping. I got a super wide beige colored seam binding. I opened up the binding and sewed a pocket and threaded the pipe strap thru. Be careful , the strapping is sharp. Wear gloves. Let me know if you have any other questions 😊
@@wanderinggypsydeb Thanks for the reply! I have some of the metal strapping, but was stymied as hot to attach it to the ceiling without glue of some kind. I could make out what the things are that are holding it, so sent your vid to a friend who told me - cubicle clips! I had no idea such a thing existed! Ordered some immediately! This may sold the back window issue, too, except I think that window needs insulation just as the side windows do. Thanks again!
Oh yes, those cubicle clips work great! If you have a button in the center of your headliner you can tuck the metal under it for added stability. @Nemo-yn1sp
It's pipe strapping sold in a roll, in plumbing supply. I took extra wide seam binding and sewed the edge, then threaded the strapping thru. It's really sharp so wear gloves. I used cubicle clips to hold it up. I sewed rare earth magnets into the Tapestry and it sticks to the strapping.
I have bungie cords going thru them and attached to the seat belt holders. They are very snug. I appreciate you watching and let me know if you have any other questions!
