My mother used to wake us kids up in the wee hours of the morning. She would come into our rooms and say, "come on, wake up, we have to head out in a few minutes. Grab a couple of toys and we will have some toast and jelly and then we have to go". She would have the car completely packed, like this ladys car. She would pack all the pillows and blankets on the back floorboards to make it level with the back seat and that is where we would all sleep. My brother and I at one end, and my mother at the other. We would sleep in rest areas. I can't tell you how many trips to California, we made. My mother was a survivor for sure.

@@sheliafalgout5043 So much to think about, and they'll drive you crazy with solicitations when you turn 65 for 'insurances' that can go with Medicare. So, if I may.... I have been watching a lot of nomad videos and one thing I like for the emerging group is the idea of those who can, owning land. Having an address is important when you're out and about out there, and if you own a home now, I'm thinking it would be a natural transfer to land you can occupy and also have friends occupy. Since my house is in a tourist town, I'm contemplating Air B&B for my place, which changes the income scenario. I have a 1969 Airstream Globetrotter - but also a horse to care for, so may not nomad it. Still learning a lot about what I 'need' from y'all.

I am so very glad she pushed through her fears and kept going. Thank you for sharing that with us. Your dog is so cute! This video is one that will push me to plan and then move on into actually doing it. I am 68 and have planned to plan to plan - and never do or complete anything. It is no way to live - in fact it isn’t living, it is merely existing. I have just now set a date for June 2024 to have gotten a van and go to one of these meetups. A goal, with no clear plan and a due date, is nothing more than a nebulous dream. Thank you so much.

We need to start considering the Golden Girls lifestyle! One really nice big 5th Wheel with 2 or 3 rooms and share the RV LOT RENT usually about $600 month which would be $200-$300 month as roommates. We could still keep our vans but have a permanent home for things like medical needs or just rest from the nomad life! I'm very interested in doing both but would love to have at least (2) roommates! I'm working on my van at the moment and I've also lived at a nice RV resort but can't really afford the RV LOT alone. I'm in Florida outside of Tampa near Plant City if anyone is interested! Please let me know. You could still travel as much as you like as often as you like but having a home base for things like a permanent address and a place to come home, sounds like a much better option. Some of us do not have families or children to fall back on. We could even do like a seasonal share to limit the cost of monthly lot rent.

Cute set up! You've got lot's of great ideas! Magnesium Deficiency causes Charlie Horses, or muscle cramp in the legs. Take Magnesium Glutimate and I take mine with a chelated Copper supplement, because I'm a redhead. We are copper based people who need copper to absorb the Magnesium If you are stressed, or drink alcohol, you will lose your mag. cortisol causes you to pee it all out. also excess salt and sugar as in coke, etc. It's important to keep up your electrolytes too, so you can buy little packets to add to water. Also slicing Cucumber into water helps keep you hydrated. No need for cramps in your legs. Sleep with a bar of soap at the foot of your bed under the covers. It changes the ions in the air and keeps leg cramps away. Sounds crazy but works!

One lesson you learn real quick is keeping Vanlife fluid knowing it’s ever changing. Very sweet human. Wishing you all safe travels
