Thanks for the comment! As interested as I am to see how the new logo would fare here in the US, I agree with you. We have a deep tradition with automobiles, and I think introducing that logo to the market would be too much of a change. Thanks for watching!
This brings up an interesting point that I’m constantly debating while working at my ad agency. You have to be different to stand out and get noticed obviously, but you also have to fit in just enough to be recognized as a player in a certain territory. In this case, it would’ve been interesting to see if the four rings could’ve been incorporated into the new logo type somehow but it’ll be interesting to see how they perform in the coming years.
Thanks for the comment! I agree that it would’ve been interesting to see the four rings incorporated into this logo. When you’re talking about a brand with as much heritage as Audi, it’s a head-scratching move to go with something completely different. Thanks for watching and supporting the show!
They are playing to the common Audi owner, you know the ones. The type that remove the ring logo and then spends their entire journey trying to drive into your trunk because they are always that close to the car in front
I thought about this for a while and now I know why I had that intrinsic hate for it: it's bland. Instead of a company putting time and effort into a unique logo they just slap their name on whatever. No creativity. Imagine if Apple never had its apple, Microsoft Windows its window, and Jaguar its jaguar. It makes everything so dull.
Thanks for the comments! I totally get what you mean. I’m usually not a fan of companies that introduce simple logos like this too. For a brand like Audi, it’s an interesting move to step away from something as iconic as the four rings. Thanks for watching!
First minute into the video, and I gotta be honest, its so refreshing to have a genuine person to share their thoughts and news about (t)his world. Thanks for the content and keep it up. I‘ll make sure to stay tuned in. And I feel like the visual underlay of your talk will just develop and improve on its own as you grow in your biz :D seems like its a young channel. Greetings from Berlin, Germany
They had almost a perfect logo. It could be represented in any colour, or with no colour, or as a silhouette, or a framework. It didn’t use any letters or writing at all and was recognisable. Oh well…. Gone now.
The 4 rings references 4 wheel drive as homage to Quattro as their brand differentiator was their All wheel drive Quattro technology that outperformed in world rally and off road in their early days. That’s the story missed in this video. The bigger takeaway should have been their departure from that identity.
This is wrong! It is in reference to the Auto Union, which was founded in 1932. This logo is way older than the quattro race car. Please do not share false Information!
Dude, this is such a well presented video and all of your content is kinda awesome. I am writing this comment to mark that I was here before your channel popped off which dear sir, it for sure will.
I don’t know how to feel about this. Shouldn’t brands be unique in their personality to stand out in the market, to actually be different? Instead, they’ve chosen to look like just another brand out there-like those cutouts in the letters. Are they hoping people will confuse them with being a sub brand to BYD or SAIC? I’m not saying it’s a bad decision, but are people in China really going to say, “Oh, an Audi-must be a new Chinese car brand?” ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ Sure, it’s nothing new for companies to rebrand in certain parts of the world, but isn't that mostly because they’re not well-known in that market and It gives them a chance to start fresh with a positioning that fits better to the market. I don't think that's the case here. Of course, I’m not an expert-I know they must have solid reasoning to even consider this. It just doesn’t sit right to me, abandoning the original mark to end up looking like just another apple in the basket.
Thanks for the comment! I’m torn on this too. I’m usually not a fan of rebrands that simplify things down, mainly because that also means letting go of some brand equity (PayPal and Woolrich are some examples I’ve looked at on the channel). In this case though, it feels like the market didn’t really care for the heritage and reputation that the Audi brand has to offer. It’s the classic “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” scenario. It’s like what you said though, is the Chinese market going to look at this logo and go, “Oh! This must be a new Chinese brand?” Thanks for watching!
The logo isn't just iconic, it is Historic. I do not know how old the logo is. But the Audi logo is based on the Auto Union logo. The Auto Union was founded in 1932!
As clean as the new Audi logo looks, I do prefer the old one and hope that it stays in the China market only
Thanks for the comment!

I swear to god nobody asked for this new basic aSS logo
It's only for China

How do you feel about this new Audi logo? Is it smart for a brand to remove themselves from an iconic logo such as the four rings?
