I love the Cutlass. It's dirty, lived-in looking and you just know it will get the job done. It has its own charme and personality. It's the type of ship which may has a few loose nuts, bolts and screws which need regular loving attention by the pilot, but in the end it will be there for you and not disappoint or abandon you. And.. it looks pretty similar to the Mandalorians Razorcrest! What do you need more apart from 2 big, old and screaming engines that will turn the grass beneath it to dust on every launch?

Tried mining today, as it's a "free fly week", so have access to more ships apart from my Mustang. The Prospector was the plan for making a few spacebux, but wanted an all-rounder..Jumped in a Cutlass (for the first time), did some deliveries and light combat, really nice to fly and just suddenly grew on me. So was planning to buy a Prospector to make spacebux.. After some research, and the fact I grew attached to my one week loan Cutlass..I picked one up at the pledge store as well as a Greycat ROC to have the best of both worlds! (after watching a few YT vids, the Cutlass Black and ROC are made for each other).
Hey Farrister, it looks like this video has been out for a while. I'm posting this during the end of the 3.14 patch, October to be exact, during the Varo Celebration for the Verse and just before Citizen Con.. I just got done flying my Cutlass Black to Jumptown on Yela to earn the Varo celebration free mask. You have to land and go inside Jumptown to get it, and it took 3 tries. The first two I got hit by 30k errors, and I was successful the 3rd time. The first time there were 3-4 ships over the lab working to prevent anyone from landing there. The third time I had gone to a different server and I made it ok. There was another player standing outside waiting to go inside and do the same thing I did. We passed each other and I boarded my ship and just got the heck out of there before he decided to do anything untoward to me. I love this ship. I use it a lot more than most of my ships. I, only recently, upgraded to the MSR as my go to ship, but I keep the Cutlass around. I have the Red version for medical work when it comes out this next patch. For the Varo patch, the are selling Ghoulish Green paint skins, and I picked one up and applied it. My Cutlass looks great in it. Take care, fly safe and I'll see you in the verse.
I just got the Cutlass Black package and the Halloween green paint pack for the four Drake ships... I wouldn't trade it in for anything else. It's perfect for so many things! I'm loving it!

I love my Cutlass! As a "blind" pledge (IRL-USD purchase), I have ZERO regrets. I was completely unfamiliar with the game when I chose this ship and it's still my favored ship for solo play two years later. Great maneuverability, solid loadout, and all around great ship to get familiarized with the game. It does however, seem to garner some additional attention in comparison to other ships, likely due to the 'nefarious' connotations the Cutlass seems to be associated with. Overall, I recommend this ship to anyone and everyone.
I'm here in 3.23 having just purchased one of these guys, and so far I've been blown up once in it. I've liked flying it, though I don't have any friends to take along with me when I go out to do adventures.

@@Farrister While not asked to me personally, I think the Titan compares a lot to the Black as it is large enough to house a small vehicle (Graycat and possibly the Ranger once it comes out), Holds a decent amount of SCU (12) and has a lot of firepower for it's size. Variants wise, the Avenger Stalker is comparable to the Cutlass Blue.
I would say the best starting point you could have in this game is a Pisces, Cutlass Black, and ROC You get those 3 and everything you need to make GOOD money and make your way in the verse is set
@@Farrister that's ok. Even if it's harder, it doesn't need to be super easy It's either Pisces Cutty ROC or Pisces Cutty Prospector Depending on how much you are willing to spend. You could even make it cheaper by forgoing the Pisces, but it's a REALLY good starter ship Starter Package + Miner $115 for Cutty + $55 for ROC = $170 $60 for Pisces + $100 for Cutty + $55 for ROC = $205 $115 for Cutty + $155 for Prospector = $270 $60 Pisces + $100 for Cutty + $155 for Prospector = $315 Any of those options will give you the best "base" starting position to make a craptonne of money and be able to buy any other ship in the game Now you can start with an Aurora or Mustang and work you way up, for sure But if you want to skip the tedious grind and get right into the solid money, this is the way to go To be sure, if you just start with a basic package, this is the setup you're aiming for anyway I have a ridiculous amount of ships, but that's mostly because I want to support this game But if I had to pair it down to just a handful of ships, this would be the list I would choose from
The cutlass is such a jack of all trades, it even makes you feel like a 10 year old stealing your dads '69 caddy and forgetting to grab some phone books to sit on and see over the dash... or if you wanted to fly around in an origami ship. Those are about the only thing a cutlass has going for it...
Really good review. What I think about the Cutlass runs counter to most of the Star Citizen community. Back in the day when everyone hated it, (before the rework) I took one out and took on a Superhornet one on one and beat the hornet. And I am not a great dog fighter. Then I took out my superhornet against a cutlass and won. Seemed to me the two ships were pretty evenly matched but the community was complaining that it wasn't as good of a fighter as the lore said it was. I don't get it. I recently took out the cutlass again in 3.12.0 and while it was okay, I didn't think it was that great. It didn't fly as well as I remembered it flying before the rework. The VTOL mode confused me at first, I was not a big fan of that. Also, I think it is UGLY as hell. lol. I'd take the base freelancer any day over the cutlass, but that's just me.
Yeah I think it's very based around preference, but I quite like that. The VTOL mode can come in handy, if you are used to it. All in all, I see the appeal of the Cutlass, albeit it's not my style
Can it be used to traffic humans? Not human trafficking mind you, I work for CIG and I need to deliver bartenders to their designated locations by 6pm tomorrow or my boss will cut my you know what :(

The Drake ships in some ways remind me of the Correlian Engineering Corporation's tendencies in Star Wars.
