I have always loved the relationship between House and 13. 2 damaged people that are also extremely intelligent makes for some interesting conversations.
Wow. That ending was acted out *perfectly.* The mingled sadness and relief and joy and confusion all played out on her expression exactly how I'd imagine it!
4:07 "You were right. Counts for nothing if you can't defend it." -- Sneaky wise words from House. Being right matters for nothing if you can't demonstrate why you're right.

I always did enjoy House and 13’s relationship outside of work. We even got an episode where the two bonded while going out to test out potato guns. But it did always strike to me that 13 was like the daughter House never had.
Something ironic about feminism complaining about beautiful women and female strength only to have the strongest female character in a show be stunningly beautiful. Kinda throws a wrench in whatever point was being made.
I think that highly of me and that little of you. From thirteen it was ironic, but from house I think he was being sincere in a way. He was saving her ash she states and he saw himself as the only one of the two strong enough to make that decision.
I don’t think it was genuine. He was making the tough choice to put aside his own happiness of having her there, but it was made out of love and care, not out of a superiority complex and pity. He didn’t want to take away her happiness in the time she had left. That was even the exchange they had before this scene. People really overexaggerate how heartless House is and interpret every interaction as sociopathic. Even when he makes the right decision, you’ll read into it as if he’s evil.
She also is facing a debilitating condition she doesn't want thanks to someone who loves her. (Genetic condition but still) House sees a bit of himself in her and realizes that she hasn't hit the moment he did yet and wants her to enjoy her life before the pain comes. She's him right before his leg got screwed up.
I've heard it said a million times that House doesn't care, and I've always wholeheartedly disagreed. Scenes like this are exactly why I do. His letting her go was a truly selfless act done for the sake of a friend he dearly loves if ever there was one.
I've heard it explained that House kinda fooled himself into thinking he actually doesn't care, like somewhere along the line he cared way too much and got hurt too hard, so he shelled himself up into what he is now. The guy acts the way he does and pushes everyone away because he doesn't want to get close enough to actually open up. Of course this doesn't excuse his actions, but you don't drive a car into your ex's house because you don't care. You don't risk your life for your best friend's dying girlfriend because you don't care. You don't risk your career for a patient by lying for her heart transplant because you don't care. There are times when he genuinely doesn't care, but the dude is a big softie and is just trying to avoid that.
Nowadays she does does horrible self inflated movies and is a woke turd of a person. The way she blatantly lied about Shia in public tells the whole story. House MD definitely was the highlight of her career.
This show has always been so interesting to me. I finished watching it about 8 years ago. A number of years after finishing college at Michigan State and being at an unexpected point in my life (nothing serious), I am now thinking about applying to PA school. I know the real world is not "this life" in the show of course, but the wit, medical jargon and interesting writing has always been great and been there for me in the back of my mind. Love House.
There is politics in medical, but nothing like these shows. PA is good for stable hours vs. The similiar NP Degree that takes a slightly shorter path. A PA requires EMT, CNA, or other hands on medical 1500 hours before applying, and the slotsbare competitive due to lack of programs vs. Nursing schools.
@@johno8030 Thank you for that, no doubt, and I really was aware of most of it. I just now turned 28 and was thinking about PA during school at around 20 or 21, but then brushed it off without much thought, and now not really doing what I want with a Kinesiology degree. I was proactively actually looking into the Michigan State program already, which has one (which I really wasn't aware of when I was at school there). I was actually just invited by an MSUCOM (the med school there) advisor by email to a zoom/webinar informational tomorrow for their entry into its PA program, after some inquiry from myself. Also, if you look at all the programs in Michigan, which has quite a number of top ones (it's a big state for the degree) they all vary quite differently now for entry requirements. Some require no entrance tests, some require more pre-reqs than others, and some now have dropped shadowing hours or requirements. For example, MSU actually dropped an entrance exam and shadowing hours, where others like Grand Valley, Wayne State or Oakland require a GRE and things like 500 to 1,500 healthcare hours.
I always thought that 13 was House's favorite member of his team(s). Of course, he wasn't going to admit it to her. But just the way he treated her differently than the others - he fired her so she could be happy with her girlfriend in Greece.
I know chade was the next house, but I think of all the people on the show, thirteen was probably the one house respected most because she was just THAT good
She left the series way too soon. I know she was kind of in the final episode, but she left the series way too soon. I don’t know if it was over money or what but I always loved her in this series. I actually miss her seeing her on television I should say she was always very good.
She first left for a few months to shoot the movie _Tron: Legacy._ Then she came back. Then her movie career started to take off, plus the show runners liked to change things up, so her time on the show just came to a natural end.
Because if no one questions him, he doesn't do the job as well. He needs the feedback, even if it's wrong, to inspire him. Also sometimes he has to be stopped from outright killing a patient to diagnose them.
Because that was her nunber when he had to pick a new team and was whittling them down. House being House couldn't be bothered to learn names, so he just gave them all numbers. She got No.13.

Proof follows conjecture. Knowing something is possible is far more important to the actual process than figuring out HOW it's possible.
Best father and daughter relationship on this show.

I said it once and I'll say it again Thirteen was the strongest female member to be on House's team
Hell, she was the strongest female character in the show tbh

I do wish that 13 kissed house on the cheek to say goodbye . But remember he promised her to help her die when her illness got bad.
I wish they'd referred to each other by their first names.
Why does House like Thirteen so much? Aside from being a brilliant diagnostician, she is the only one who can go toe to toe with him in comebacks.
She also presents a challenge to him as she keeps secrets of her past from him

Because she is a hot Bi.
