Just to note that the comments about this game not being as much of an “RPG” are addressed by the 500+ page campaign books they’ve been releasing. There’s an active Gamefound campaign for the Fall of the Ancients for Forest of Adrimon right now that adds a huge open world choose your own adventure RPG narrative with heroic moments for each class etc.
I actually don't think this is a pay to play type experience. Each volume is pretty much standalone. There are rules to mix them together but I kind of relate them to the elder scrolls as each volume is it's own self contained adventure. As far as the digital stuff, they do sell a small deck that turns that physical. I'm digging into the latest volume now and it is pretty awesome. Great insight and I hope you keep enjoying Explore it!
@@artichokedip9150 Fair enough. I quite like their town design ideas. Simple but effective. I'm reading OSRIC at the moment - quite a nice set of OSR rules.
Yeah what a weird comment. Dude makes a 60 minute video basically gushing about the game for an hour, and you’re like, “Great, thanks won’t buy.” Also, his comments about the fluctuation of the price is simply an artifact of this being a kickstarter game. It’s not in constant print, they do a print run, retailers buy a bunch, then as it becomes more rare, sellers jack up the price. His comments about them nickel and diming is very strange. The core box is all you need. The other elements like the expansion (which I got for $40) are absolutely not required. I’m not sure why a company continuing to care about and release content for their games 5 years after the fact is a bad thing. In their latest kickstarter they are adding optional fully illustrated cards for their FIRST game. Also why “a couple of hundred quid?” The game is 60-90 dollars depending on where you get it.
