Congrats on the spring cleaning! You look well rested, refreshed, and ready to take on many a fantasy worlds at once. Inspiring me to get off my butt after work and whip my gaming stuff into shape and get to using it. Very much looking forward to those guides of using pre-written modules and your Mentzer RedBox playthru. Thanks for all you do my mans.

Miss your playthroughs. Your videos from a few years ago got me started in Solo and are very inspirational. Like you I don't like throwing anything away. And then when I do, immediately need it again.😅

I'd love to see me some sweet miniature skirmish gaming from ourboy Artichoke dip!
One thing that I find interesting is how one might "enhance" these types of solo skirmish games and bring proper solo roleplaying ideas into them. For instance, you might be playing something like Borderlands or the sister game 5 parsecs from home, and solo ROLE PLAY scenes between the battles on your table. So in Borderlands, you might role play out a visit to a tavern.
So we roll: "Do they have a pleasurable night together as a team?"
    The oracle roll says yes.
The thing with this is that a "success" or a "failure" in the role play aspect between the skirmish action on the table, should bring some EFFECT on the skirmish mechanics. So if your team for instance had a pleasurable night at a tavern, they might have a one time use of a +1 to hit on the next skirmish, because they are in a good spirit. They basically had a "team building event", like in corporate life, haha. :D
You could take this in all sorts of directions, investigating with oracle rolls how the team dynamic stands at the moment for instance. "Does this character like this character?" YES. Ok, now you have a one time use of a +1 as long as these two miniatures stay close together on the board and work as a team and can communicate / encourage each other.
You see what I am saying?
Using role playing and oracle rolls, with the effects brought over to the skirmish battle, with some small boon or bane here and there.

I think you could use "carousing" tables from Conan type RPG systems. They have a mechanic in there that makes you roll on a table to see how the gang went into town and got drunk and whored around and acted stupid and burned all their money. :)
"Here we go again..." and they have to head out and raid another tomb or derelict space ship to refill their purses / credit chips. Perhaps you could use rolls on such tables and ask oracle questions about the rudimentary descriptions.
      - Your character went to a gambling den and lost 60g.
      Ok, how did that happen?
Roll on an inspirational word list, like with Mythic.
      Result: "Apparent complexity"
Ok, so this character got into a bind with a local crime boss. Now there is a 20% chance for the next two skirmish battles that a gaggle of 5 ruffians will show up and enter the table, no matter what scenario you are playing. They tracked you down!

I also like tabletop skirmish as an "anchor" for solo role playing.
I like to think in terms of solo roleplaying while putting on ANY sort of miniatures battle.
I think only in terms of "simulation" while putting on battles from any system. I am asking oracle questions related to how units will behave etc. This is how the olden times guys like Arneson and Gygax and them thought about it when they branched out from tabletop into role playing.

Two points of reference for the design approach in Five Leagues: Mordheim and Final Fantasy Tactics. Also fantastic games.

The sci-fi version, Five Parsecs from Home, is even better. And that's coming from someone that prefers fantasy over sci-fi, usually. Both excellent games though.

Yeah the FOMO is real when it comes to tabletop gaming. It's tough when there are so many great games out there.
