    To me, I think it took tremendous courage on Ben's part to get up there and do this interview. He probably knew people were going to say how ill he looked. But he did it anyway.

    I could only bring myself to watch this interview twice. Always miss some things first time round. It broke my heart seeing Benjamin so ill thin and obviously in much pain. He was always so humble and kept his personal life as private as possible. The talent as a musician is undeniable. He was the voice of The Cars. He was a true and great Rock Star. On stage he was who every one watched along side Easton. But Benjamin was the "it" factor in the band. Never seen a more sweet and down to earth musician and human being in the public eye. Crushed hard on this beautiful talented man and thanks to You Tube .... he is forever young, vibrant, amazingly talented and beautiful 💗😎💗
    R.I.P Benjamin Orr. You live on through the memories of your many fans and will for years and years to come... And in our hearts
    You rock and roller 🎶😎🎶

      Benjamin Orr and Ric Ocasek are alive in my parallel reality as are some artists and some ordinary people (except those who died in their twenties and thirties), I was also I was shocked and sad when I saw him like this even his voice was fading.

    • @philliplandry4139
      @philliplandry4139 Год назад +8

      The reason why Orr was so private is because most musicians during their time even Ric were they always kept to themselves. A lot of their peers from Elvis to the Culture Club, even Duran Duran didn't care to expose themselves to seek attention except their music. It wasn't until guys like Motley Crue and Guns n Roses started exposing themselves on the front page news. That's when things started to change.

    • @naaralima5182
      @naaralima5182 Год назад +6

      @@philliplandry4139 That's really it, I learned through a post by Ric Ocasek's oldest son that he as a person was a terrible husband for his first wife and a terrible father for the children he had with her, although I thought it was also an ugly attitude for Christopher Otcakek to expose such a personal issue and of the bands you mentioned, two of them are also my favorites

    • @philliplandry4139
      @philliplandry4139 Год назад +1

      The thing about Ric, he was so very creative as a musician but terrible as a person. Whenever he came out with his second album, his ego got so huge it cost his own band to break up. Ben and the rest of the members was not happy with that decision at all. As the 90's went through, Ric became irrelevant because of the grunge, rap, and alternative music was on the rise plus with Ben's passing. Ric's attitude became much better towards the people around him. He started to look out for his kids more and he stayed with Paulina for 30 years the longest marriage he ever had before calling it quits. The only thing that he did wrong was divorce Paulina and took her off his will right before he passed.

    • @naaralima5182
      @naaralima5182 Год назад +9

      @@philliplandry4139 Really, as an artist, a genius who composed almost all the band's songs and a legitimate showman as shown in the music video "Tonight she comes" where he sings, dances, acts and mimes, but as a person he was terrible for most of his life, his friendship with Benjamin Orr was more in his youth when The Cars was in formation because in the final circumstance who was Benjamin's friend Orr was Elliot Easton who, in addition to being my favorite members who decorated well on stage, were the closest outside of it and resuming Ocasek's attitude of removing Paulina and her two children of the first marriage in the testament was an attitude that amounts to a bad character.

As a fellow " buckeye" and former professional bassist like Ben...I know the rigors of the stage, and the shows, etc. I've always GREATELY admired his bass playing and his unique " sound". Felt a strong " kinship to his soul". Deeply saddened by his passing and of Rics also. One of my favorites bands of all time. Im 65 now and their music is still as fresh and original as back in the 70's, and 80's. Drive....one of THE BEST songs ever written, recorded, produced and released of all time. I hadn't seen this before, really sad and confronting to see Ben like that when my memory of The Cars is always that dynamic, original, young rock band that was such a huge part of the soundtrack to my adolescence in Melbourne, Australia. Their music just doesn't get old, still gets a regular spin at my place, I suspect it always will.

    I wasn't really a cars fan back in the 70's and 80's. But today I can really appreciate what a great band the cars really were... If it wasn't for the cigarettes, Ben would have been still alive today. Such a great talent who made some silly choices. R.I.P. Rock Star.....

      @@mrbill9248 Good Genes. It also depends on how much you smoke. I think that Ben might have been a heavy smoker.. Most of the time smoking will cause cancer, strokes, etc, somewhere further down the line. Smoking and cancer are definitely linked.
