Ben was such a talent and definitely a great-looking cool cat.. He was the ultimate frontman and I'm glad he had great success with Ric and the boys. They had had a great run and the last few tours they had were epic.
Hey! Thank you so much for this great compilation of pica of Benjamin. Well done. I'm a female, and absolutely no doubt that the man was a real looker. As I get older (still listening to the Carrs!!!) I've come to see beyond the superficial and honor the facts about his character. He was devoted to not only his craft but to his child. His endurance in the end, battling cancer is a real inspiration for alot of folks going through that difficulty. I'm 9 years free, but it was a close call at times. So his courage makes me humble and grateful for another day. Thank you Ben for all these things, RIP.❤❤❤
Some people were just born to be great and they do the things we all wished we could, Benjamin was definitely one of those few, I bet people that knew Benjamin before they hit the big time saw that in him.
Twenty years, exactly today (on October 3rd 2000) died our gorgeous Benjamin Orr. Incredible, and no one of his fans can still believe it. This song is one of his best songs. He will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace lovely Benjamin.
❤️💕Ben Orr, love him so much, still to this day. I was a kid and grew up on the cars. So proud to call him one of our Cleveland area’s own. Gone too soon.
I really enjoyed your book on Ben Orr, Joe! Very detailed and meticulously researched. But one thing I think all Ben Orr fans really love are the glimpses into his personal relationships with those who he loved and cared about. Wedding photos, day to day photos with his family, photos of him happy with those who loved him...these little gems make our hearts melt and endear this man to us all the more. Thank you for sharing a few more of these that were not in the book! And please, keep ‘em coming when you can!
Thank you for your kind words, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the book! I ope you will find my book page on Facebook, or email me a "book selfie" (a pic of you holding the book) so I can add it to the book selfie album on the book page! Thanks again! benorrbook@gmail.com
Thanks for sharing this post.. lovely to see Ben growing up, and his son. Ben was beautiful when he was a baby, and got more handsome as he got older.. so Talented. R.I.P. Ben always in my thoughts XX
Thank you for this wonderful slide show. I read Let's Go twice and I loved it. This is what fans have been looking for, a more in depth look into Ben's life. I personally don't think he or his life were as mysterious as everybody thinks it was. The pictures with his son are priceless, and the picture of him at the last interview with the band is incredible and also priceless. He has a smile on his face and he looks like the Ben that we all know and love. What a wonderful way to remember him. Wow!
Me as well miss those great times still into 80’s new wave bands favorite bands like Cars & Talk Talk another singer Mark Hilo’s gone way to damn soon rip dudes!!👍☮️
Born the same year as David Bowie. That amazes me. Ben always looked so young. Such a long taper in music BEFORE The Cars even began. No wonder they had a great bass player and front man.
Thank you for this great video! Just discovered Benjamin Orr. Have always loved the song Drive since I was a kid in the 80's but didnt know anything about who sang it beyond it being The Cars. Also as a kid I loved the song Stay the Night and am just learning that it was the same man! He was a gorgeous person inside and out! Thank you!
It seems almost like it was yesterday they were on The Tom Snyder Show, I remember they played "Cruiser" off of Shake it Up Lp, I miss these guys, they were always on in my car when i was in my 20's.
Oh THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! This is wonderful to see the family part of his life. Ben and his son, but his music family as well! And as a side note, he'll always make me swoon! 🥰 Sorely missed talent, & just a great guy!
Thanks so much for sharing this with us fans ! What a wonderful man and musician he was ! Miss him dearly ! His son looks just like him, what a doll 🥰🥰
love you in this world and the next! Benjamiin! you were everthing a true Rock Star should be! Since you've passed away, I've been searching and looking for your quaulities in young up and coming rock stars. God bless you! hav'nt found it yet, but am still looking.
It's amazing how much I argue with people when they hear a Cars song and say Ric Ocasak was an amazing singer. I correct them by saying, "He didn't sing this. It was Ben Orr." . They usually disagree and reply, "No, Ric sang this. I'd know his voice anywhere...". It's amazing how many of their songs he sang on, yet he seems to get overshadowed by his fellow bandmate. Funny, because Ben really stood out. He was the only blond member and looked like a runway model.
Thank you so much dear Joe ,I just re read the entire biography last night again ( I lost count how many times I read it and use it for fact checking etc) , could not sleep and this was a wonderful way to pass the time, thank you so much. Loved seeing some colour photos in this and rarer shots not seen before especially of Benjamin with his son
Very cool. Thanks! I always thought he looked like every other person on the Polish side of my family. Awesome talent. The Cars blew my mind in HS & college.
Thank you so much for this beautiful video. As I already read the book I know these photos, but three of them where we could see Benjamin with his son, I've never seen before. They are so cute.
This is awesome thank you so much, I’ve seen a lot of these pictures but one I’ve never see was the picture of Ben with the mustache really threw me as I’ve only seen him clean shaven! I love him, what a special person! The book was great I’ve read it a few times.
Joe and Donna: This is a wonderful companion piece to go along with your wonderful book. So many great pictures. It will be another fantastic source to follow into the life of Ben. The picture of the two Bens @ 5:06 is precious. Thanks for all you do!
Oh my goodness I didn't know there was a 3rd slide show, the other two were so great and this one had some really wonderful "new" shots. Wow. Great picture of Ben and Kris on their wedding day. Those ones with his son are really touching and not to get silly but those are the elusive Orr feet in the one where they are playing video games on the bed.
Good times EVERYBODY had in OHIO we'd drive down from DETROIT.. 🍺🍻 R.I.Peace😂 This actually made me cry I loved the CARS but Benjamin was such a guy I could listen to ALL MIXED UP all day long!
It’s not all about Benjamin’s looks there is way more to him then just appearance. Benjamin is everything. He isn’t truly gone ever. Benjamin is very special to me
Ash-wipe…reading your various comments here. You really sound like a dick. No one, and I mean NO ONE HERE ever said Ben is just a pretty face. His talent doesn’t need to be defended. We’re because we love (and miss) Ben Orr the gifted musician………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..who just happens to be a gorgeous man.
I'm reading "Let's Go" right now and am kind of shocked at some that chose not to be quoted in the book. Eliot Easton and Ric Orcasek, most specifically. I thought Benjamin and Eliot had a great relationship, but neither he nor Ric attended the memorial service. Very sad. By all accounts Benjamin was loved by everything. Including ME!
Reading the book right now, having finally caught up with it. I was trying to read John Lydon's Anger is An Energy but it's so badly written and organized, I gave up on it. I mean, it's truly atrocious. A lot of rock books are just not good. I'm about 40 pp. into the Ben Orr book and it's fascinating. I'm a huge Cars fan from way back and I didn't know much about Ben's Cleveland days and history. I didn't even know a thing about Upbeat the TV show, given that I grew up here on LI NY. I read a bit about it in the Alex Chilton biography. I managed to see The Cars only once in 1988 at Madison Square Garden. A good show, but I wish I'd seen them back in the heyday. My friend Erik saw them at Forest Hills for the Heartbeat City tour. He's one of of THE biggest Cars fans of all time.
One of my favourite bands and I like the fact that Ric Ocasek said that when he wrote a song that needed a "real rock singer", it was Ben that sang lead. I hope it's true that Ben and Ric patched things up before Ben died.
One of the greatest musicians ever, so underrated. Gave the Cars some of their unique sound....the whole group had their own things. I love them
Ben was not underrated.
Ben was such a talent and definitely a great-looking cool cat.. He was the ultimate frontman and I'm glad he had great success with Ric and the boys. They had had a great run and the last few tours they had were epic.
The most handsome man ever with a great voice.
Where does zDiane reside
What is his son's name? And we're out they reciting is it Vermont? Burlington?

Ben Orr was a very talented singer / songwriter who , along with Rick Ocasek , made up the core of one of the best bands of my lifetime -
THE CARS.
