One of the most underrated and under appreciated cars ever. This car will be remembered in 20 years time as the last of its kind. 8.4 litre na v10 paired with a manual. Drivers car right there
How is it underrated ? Everyone knows what this is about by now, since the first lap people have been saying that this would be the fastest car. If anything, i'd say that because the ACR is so good, all the other versions are indeed underrated.
Agreed. Considering the fact that the GTS and the TA are still faster than all of the cars in the competition thus far shows you just how good the Viper is, even without the sticky tires, carbon ceramics and insane downforce. I'm so happy I picked up a Viper this year. It is a truly remarkable machine.
Not many people know what is ACR and what it is capable of. When you mention Viper to casual car fans they will think muscle car, they won't think race car.
The Viper is 10X better car with that 8.4 V10. That huge iron-block 6.2 would add nearly 150-200lbs to the front of the Viper...effectively destroying it's handling and balance. Not to mention cooling issues. FCA got it right. This is a track car.
Define "fraction of a price"? The ACR is at least $120,000. That puts it in the same six-figure category as most of the other cars on this list. Ford and GM are the only ones making affordable cars in this test. The Mustang GT350R is practically HALF the price of the Viper ACR, and the Camaro SS is even cheaper.
+Mike Morrison also the 918 just flat out quit Running when the batteries got hot. car shut down. that's not a race car. it's just a really fast hot lap car. but it will NOT run 30 laps like a true race car will. enter the Viper ACR. that goes for ferrari and McClaren too.
Good luck finding a 350R for MSRP. Every GT350R Is $100k+. The Camaro is cheaper, it's also a full 6 seconds a lap slower. Not to mention with the rate GM sends out Recalls, it'll be at the dealership more then a track.
As I watch this video, I noticed that the ACR is consistently good in cornering. While most cars lowered down their speed to 40-50 mph, ACR did it around 70-80 mph. That explains the reason for having such incredible lap time. Good job Dodge!
I like the fact that people are comparing a $120k car to million dollar hypercars with turbo's and fancy electric engines and dual clutch transmissions. That should say something about the car alone
well as he did say they took it easy on the gtr this year. idk why someone would want to make a car newer and slower. plus if you get a none stock gtr... it'll wipe out everything. but the sexyness alone wins on this viper.
And it's not against the Nismo version. It's just the revised Premium version of GT-R that the Nissan made it softer for the road. Please read. ACR was track ready, Nissan wanted the Premium to feel premium to its drivers.
Engine displacement does not tell the whole story. For such a large displacement engine, its also light around 650 lbs. It's volume is more for reliability and getting the center of gravity lower.
I feel this car is a testament to the validity of manual transmissions. Hope there'll always be an option for a stick shift in the future in certain sports cars.
the viper is fast because of race car down force it has nothing to do with it being a manual at all. If this had a DCT it would be even faster than it already is.
FerpiliciousProducts that is not true at all wtf . They didnt put a DCT in it simply because it was not in there budget. DCT will only make your car faster this has been proven on every level. Your comment is 100% pulled out your ass
You don't think it was in their budget? They have an existing auto trans in the Hellcat that shifts extremely well. In terms of R&D they really wouldn't have to go far. The real reason there is an MT in a Viper is it's lighter weight, smaller, and appeals to the people who buy ACRs. You can talk all you want, but the Viper ACR has destroyed track records across the States with an MT. Are you saying Porsche, BMW, or Mercedes make a better track car in this segment? I don't see it. If Chrysler had tried to fit an auto/dct into the Viper they would have had to redesign the car from the ground up and probably wouldn't have ended up with this astonishingly successful car.
FerpiliciousProducts what the hell are you talking about ? Viper did the cheapest shit they could to make that car go around a track fast. Simple spoiler and canards and sticky tires. These fanboy response are stupid as fuck you bringing up its lap time and how it beats everything. When the fuck did I say it was slow or couldn't compete? I said it would be faster with a transmission that can shift twice as fast as a manual plain and simple. Yes DCT was completely out of there budget , notice how they are out of business now? Money all gone
goes to show why only stupid money buys those hypercars. you would think spending over a million on a car that is supposed to have the best everything and be out of this world crazzy fast and beat everything, nope just a simple viper with a big ass wing and slow ass manual is all it takes to beat it hahahaha. seeing a car like this even tho i hate vipers pisses me off because something so simple can take on the most technologically advanced shit we have today. I bet we start seeing everything come out with crazzy down force and shit now lol
Tyler Hoeve It is just the P1 that has flopped really. The 918 is pretty close to the ACR without all of the downforce. LaF never really promised anything. P1 promised the fastest 'Ring time and it failed miserably and the 918 has beat it on every track they've been compared at even with McLaren making so many changes to the car.
Hear That? read back your comment you just posted. Look at the dam cars we are comparing the viper to. You know how insulting that must be to the guys over at McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche. They are supposed to be building cars that are ahead of our time. They are supposed to be untouchable on the track that's what they were built for. We are comparing a 100k car that can smoke cars that are over a million at there own game. Shits crazzy
on a track with more turns, i.e. the nordschleife, the double clutch gains an advantage (.02 seconds each time eventually do add up), but most often than not, the manual is the way to go!
Exactly, if you look, the fastest track cars in basically every price bracket are manual (Camaro SS 1LE, Mustang GT350R, Corvette Z51/Grand Sport/Z06, and the Viper). In many cases these cars are even down on power vs the European competition. Why exactly are people arguing that the DCT's are better again?
Thank you all so much for not playing music or making a montage over the driving and letting us experience what it is like to be in the vehicle and to hear that v10 growl
I would be a shock if anything thing in this group post a faster time, no other car has really effective aero package. They work but they are nothing like what the viper is using and I'm sure that the car was setup just for this track. The aero and suspension is fully adjustable.
Exactly my thoughts. Winner on the track might be often very underwhelming on the road, especially when you are not driving it on the limit. I think the great cars are also interesting while you driving it "slowly" (they have interesting sound, they are not too stiff etc). Miata is famous for that, you can have great fun on the road within speed limits (sometimes ;). Viper looks great, but for me its just a track toy and thats not enough for a best car, maybe i am wrong, hopefully well find out soon.
As said in the beginning of the video. Randy has the track record for a production car on Laguna Seca with the Viper ACR. He was 3 seconds off the pace with this 1:31 lap time. I think it's safe to say the Viper ACR is still going to be the fastest.
One of the greatest cars America has ever produced. Timeless, iconic style and breathtaking performance. Name could not be more fitting. It even looks like a viper!
There will be in a few more years. I think Dodge/ACR should just stop attempting to produce these cars every ear and just make a batch of them in 5 year increments.
That's your own Trump-sounding speculation, guy. The president of Fiat already said the Viper's getting sunsetted and it has nothing to do with increasingly stringent regulations. He just couldn't make a business case for it. The Viper chassis isn't shared among any other vehicles (nor is the powertrain anymore for that matter), it's sales volume is extremely low even amongst niche products, they've had to significantly slash prices in 2014 to move cars that were just sitting on lots and to incentivize the 2015 models. It just made no business sense to keep the Viper program going by investing millions into an upcoming redesign. The current ACR is too little, too late.
Dude, if it was just airbags, it'd still continue production. For all of the other reasons I listed, it had to die. Sergio Marchionne says it might be revived but only on a shared Alfa Romeo platform with the Giulia.
Buddy, if they could have shared platforms and drivetrains to maximize monetization of the Viper, trust me the Viper would continue. Again, Fiat didn't have the incentive to make it airbag compliant either.
Magnificent car, I really love the way you guys put this video together in particular having the car run in the background of the credits with no music. Such a throwback to some classic racing documentaries/movies and exactly how this completely underappreciated car would want to head into the sunset. Although one can hope that we see it return in a couple of years, great video guys!
I was at the 2014 Detroit Auto show and there was a man there with a 2004 Silver stone metallic S2k with a gen 3 Viper engine under the hood. He said keeping the car in a straight line during launch was a handful.
Holy Fuck! It is just so unbelieveble fast! 3 seconds faster than the Audi R8 on such a tiny and small circuit! What a shame they will stop producing Vipers. This car deserves to be produced for the next 100 years. What-A-Car! And then knowing he did the lap with this car earlier in a 1.28.xx Wow!
depends if you want a track car, sure the C7 Z06 is designed to be a street car to drive to work every day with. they sold 8,000 Z06s because of that while vipers were selling fewer than 500 cars a year
And thats why the Viper is held in a higher class of vehicle than the Corvette. I literally passed 2 vettes this morning on my way to work. They are a dime a dozen (even see the ZL1s and Z07s weekly if not daily). I have passed 1 Viper on the road this year. I have a great respect for Vettes, but they arent super car worthy like the Viper. On the streets its a drivers race between the two. On the track the Viper is on a WHOLE other level. The new C7 Z06 are plagued with issues like heat soak and engine problems. To me there is nothing like an all motor car whipping up on forced inducted machines.
Wrong: In the head to head with the 918 vs the mclaren, compared to the times set in the head to head with the corvette and the viper acr, the viper scored within the 918 and the mclaren. When not comparing the head to head times, the ACR actually put down a better time than the 918: the viper currently holds the record for production car at laguna seca, so no. The 918 would not win easily.

OMG! that track Randy is driving that 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is the same track on the GT6 Gran Turismo 6 PS3 Xbox 360 Racing that came out in 2013 :D Sweet! Nice car Randy I want one.
Randy is a BEAST!!! Love his videos. Next time, include the gears on the overlay, would be interesting to see his gear selection for each corner entry and exit. Tks...🏎🏎🏎🏁
The R8 is the better car tho, its state of the art contrary to the ACR, will last longer, holds its value and is more easy to drive. The ACR had better tires and its basically a big ass engine with a plastic shell anyways the same as the Vette, its a good car but not as good as most people think.
How can you compare this cars? They are totally different. And I'm sure that if you park this 2 cars in a garage and get them out again in about 50 years and get them to an auction, the Viper will be more worth. Much more!
The ACR will be a future classic, not the R8. The only special thing the R8 has got is its high-revving N/A V10, all other bits are pretty much standard in all those high-performance supercars.
And the Viper will always be a legend, because IT NEVER HAD AN AUTOMATIC, and set a lap record with a MANUAL. #All HailTheViper #BringBackTheManual #BringBackTheViper
Keep in mind this is Best DRIVERS Car. While the Viper is obviously the fastest, and probably quite enjoyable to drive, it may not be the most enjoyable.
Even at 3 seconds slower than the record, the ACR is STILL 3 seconds faster than the car in second place. What's even more amazing, is that the Viper TA is also faster than the entire group so far. The Viper really is an amazing machine. I'm so happy I picked one up this year.
Randy usually talks/narrates a lot while testing cars. But in this vid hes quiet, composed and is clearly concentrating on driving. Doesn't take a genius to figure out he is driving what is basically a race car with a license plate. Dodge made the GTS ACR into a street version of the full race GTS-R and did a wonderful job. And this is coming from a die hard Corvette fan.
What a beautiful car! Leave it to Dodge to build such an amazing American super car! The sound of this V-10 is intoxicating... I could listen to it all day! Great driving and a great lap, Randy! Great video, thanks!
Yeah, and it wasn't a fluke at all, because it hasn't been anywhere close. The 918 did a 1.29.89.... the Viper did a 1.28.65. More than a second faster. And the ACR also set records on dozens of other tracks, beating the P1 & 918.
Thats fantastic! Im glad Dodge finally realised what a monster the Viper could be, im just sad they waited till the last year of its production to unleash its full potential.
When Randy set the lap record he had a team from Dodge providing telemetry feedback, tyre guys checking everything possible and a lot of pressure. To be fair it looked like a bloody hard day at the office. That's the beauty of the Best Drivers Car contest. The cars arrive, are driven and times set. It must have been nice to finally enjoy the drive without Damocles looking over your shoulder. ;-)
bravo motortrend! even though randys track times are dramatically different with the same car, you guys upheld journalism integrity👏👏 even in the face of fanboy skepticism
Wish GM would lend Dodge an 8speed auto out of the Z06. Just to see how fast the Viper really can go. (And yes it can handle the torque, bc the Z06 makes just as much.)
The Z06's transmission w/coolers is a trans-axle design. Significant work would have to go into placing one in a Viper....one that would Effectively work and not overheat. The ZF is just not cut out to perform in the Viper as a viable TRACK transmission. Pretty sure FCA didn't want to put that kind of money into a project like that. If you want an 'auto', a DCT is really the logical choice. Expensive, but logical.
SRT didn't want an automatic viper anyway.. In an interview: SRT President Ralph Gilles said, “Everyone is going to paddle shifts. We see that a lot. We recognize a trend, but that is not what the Viper is about. It really isn’t. The people who buy (the Viper) relish the manual, they relish the driver’s car, the raw connections to the vehicle. That is what it is about. So we are not chasing rainbows here.”
JerseyMikeP I remember that interview....but Gilles is/was mainly just a figurehead for the SRT lineup....of course he's going to paint car in a positive light no matter what. Only FCA's bean counters know what the deal is. Truth is, you might not be seeing the demise of the car if it targeted a larger audience. The "Manual-Only" badge of pride is putting this car in its grave. These cars were left wasting away in showrooms last year.
JerseryMikeP, well a whole lotta good that did. They are discontinuing the Viper in 2017. I read that potential owners complained of a lack of an automatic. Its 2016! The hellcat has an automatic, and is faster with it.
A paved race course that is clean from rubber buildup, oil/grease, marbles and debris, typically cleansed by means of a recent rain shower. A "green track" is usually considered preferable. Track crews may also use jet blowers to remove marbles and debris from the surface, to mimic the green track conditions.
I finally hear what people are talkin about when they say "The Viper doesn't sound good". It has a weird rumble to it. I understand the gripes now but other than that the shit's a beast. Kudos to the SRT team

It will be missed. I'd know I'd own one if I had the financial abilities to do so.
Not many people know what is ACR and what it is capable of. When you mention Viper to casual car fans they will think muscle car, they won't think race car.
A glorious end of the Viper legend. This 2016 Viper ACR would be a great addition in the history books as a future classic.
exactly
the left stripe is too weird.
They should've went out with a V8 Hellcat Viper and a Viper ACR-X
The Viper is 10X better car with that 8.4 V10. That huge iron-block 6.2 would add nearly 150-200lbs to the front of the Viper...effectively destroying it's handling and balance. Not to mention cooling issues. FCA got it right. This is a track car.
a legend.....
The ACR dominates every other car on the track at a fraction of a price. Dodge, Ford and GM know how to make affordable performance.
If I heard correctly, the ACR is capable of being just as fast or faster than a P1 or 918.
That lasts like a week. Then will start breaking

Funny how a car with a manual transmission got the fastest time.... #BRINGBACKTHEMANUAL

on a track with more turns, i.e. the nordschleife, the double clutch gains an advantage (.02 seconds each time eventually do add up), but most often than not, the manual is the way to go!
If it was automatic it would be even faster. It would also still be in production after this year.

listen it's ok ur a fan of the aston it's a beautiful car but just accept the fact the the viper acr is better on the track.
123 123 I already acknowledged that 100%.
One of the greatest cars America has ever produced. Timeless, iconic style and breathtaking performance. Name could not be more fitting. It even looks like a viper!
Even with this being the fastest car in the world, there isn't enough demand for them to continue production. Sad.
The feels are real right now ☹️
There will be in a few more years.

Viper 8l engine is just ridiculous
***** Dude, sorry for being spoiler tho, i had removed it. apologies for the mistake that i had made earlier. Have a nice day
I agree with what Ray said. If you read comments before watching video what you expect?????
Hard to choose one,, all dream cars 😄
America, Fuck yea!
Even 2013 Viper TA with a 1:33:62 is faster than other 11 competitors
*_2014_*
Magnificent car, I really love the way you guys put this video together in particular having the car run in the background of the credits with no music. Such a throwback to some classic racing documentaries/movies and exactly how this completely underappreciated car would want to head into the sunset. Although one can hope that we see it return in a couple of years, great video guys!
I'll trade you a chimichanga and my Honda for this viper
One question, will the dodge viper fit in your Honda?
lmao
Bruh can we Viper swap this 99 civic?
The chimichanga would do
I was at the 2014 Detroit Auto show and there was a man there with a 2004 Silver stone metallic S2k with a gen 3 Viper engine under the hood. He said keeping the car in a straight line during launch was a handful.
These short clips stole an hour of my life.
Can I have some more?
DESTROYED! Obliterated all others so far. Damn!
People say the Dodge viper sucks and the “lambo” is better. Listen, no Lamborghini (“lambo”) has broken 13 records
This thing is shockingly fast on a track. Holy crap, it beat million dollar hypercars..
Imagine what it could do if it had 263 more HP like the P1 or 242hp more like the 918?
it would oversteer like a hellcat
This car should totally have won. What an absolute BEAST
That's a lot of performance for just a little over 100K. It makes me mad knowing I'll probably never get to drive this beast!!
Same here..
Randy was really focused that he did not even said a word, trying hardly to beat his record! :)
8.4 L Naturally aspirated V10 rumble will be remembered in the world of twin turbo 4 bangers.
I've been a Viper fanboy since I saw one in the early 90s in person as a kid so... this is dream car territory for me.
Favorite one out of all of them, by far. I've seen them work with this car on roadkill and a few times of motor trend this year. LOVE it.
Better than corvette.
never
prove it if you can
depends
if you want a track car, sure
the C7 Z06 is designed to be a street car to drive to work every day with.
they sold 8,000 Z06s because of that
while vipers were selling fewer than 500 cars a year
+Jab mountain
01:31.58 Viper ACR
01:34.58 Mclaren 570S

1.5 g on the Corkscrew is something amazing. Wow
(almost) slick tires help a lot
Not a valid argument. Most of these cars have tires specific to their design and they are all made for the track.
@@PyroBlonde7777 Considering it's outhandling supercars with four wheel steering, it's quite the valid argument. Get clapped euro weeb
@@savagetuner2404 Take a look at this thread again. Do you see your mistake?
When you drive a Viper you can't help but smile:)
The Viper is a powerhouse of performance and handling, and it has a presence that is second to none.
Love it!
its the best car here
but they wont pick it :(
doesnt matter. still love it
Fastest =/= best.
Shakrom
Thats what i figure .
I know there are factors
But everybody who drives
The car says its easy to push
And is very stable when you do
Hey are you a member of fastestlaps?

Yes sir. signed up a month ago
But forgot my password.
best car if you only drive on track, for daily use it's horrible
How can someone dislike this ?
They are JDM/Euro/Ford/Chevy fanboys....or they know they will never ride or afford one.
RIP viper just like your father Shelby you will truly be missed.
The way you put this footage together has earned you a sub. I love content like this
Hypercar Killer!
Lol let's not get ahead of ourselves, a 918 would win easily
Wrong: In the head to head with the 918 vs the mclaren, compared to the times set in the head to head with the corvette and the viper acr, the viper scored within the 918 and the mclaren. When not comparing the head to head times, the ACR actually put down a better time than the 918: the viper currently holds the record for production car at laguna seca, so no. The 918 would not win easily.

The ACR is faster than the 918 on Laguna Seca, so there goes your statement.
Actually, I think the Viper ACR already has beat the 918's time. And yes, the 918's time was also set by Randy Pobst.
the most amazing, most beautiful most honorable and best drivers cars, viper is the end
putting the car name in the title spoiled the video .. we already know which car is going to win (coughvipercough)
maybe it wins on a track, but the contest isn't for that
On the track the ACR is a beast but everywhere else it sucks
So much value and the fiercest statement, truly top 5 super cars
OMG! that track Randy is driving that 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is the same track on the GT6 Gran Turismo 6 PS3 Xbox 360 Racing that came out in 2013 :D Sweet! Nice car Randy I want one.
He didn't make a single comment... Meaning he has to totally focus on the car! What a beast!
Randy must've been way off his game lol
Green track
+Jonny Lieberman Green track?
Means either new surface or it has had the rubber washed off it by weather. Not very grippy.
It would be great if you guys would/could post the track condition (temperature, humidity or even the date ran).
I love the sounds of the car when he brakes and accelerates. It's so satisfying!
That is a Viper 👊💪
This car is raw and untethered and its rage knows know no bounds!!!
It just goes to show how important downforce is on Laguna seca
dude this car went straight to collectors list and showcases sooo fast
Much more!
No car enthusiast would take the R8 and it's auto transmission over the ACR...
Definitely the R8 is a better "car". But I'd have the Viper, because race car :)
The ACR will be a future classic, not the R8. The only special thing the R8 has got is its high-revving N/A V10, all other bits are pretty much standard in all those high-performance supercars.
Except the new R8 is fucking ugly unlike the first generation R8
Is curious that the 3 lap times of the ACR in laguna are so different
one of the most beautiful cars out there, and its American.... gives me goose bumps.
All hail the mighty Viper. It's the car Corvettes wish they could be.
And the Viper will always be a legend, because IT NEVER HAD AN AUTOMATIC, and set a lap record with a MANUAL.
#All HailTheViper
#BringBackTheManual
#BringBackTheViper
Randy's RaceFace was priceless on this one :-|
The only production car that was actually a race car. Somebody at Dodge had some balls to keep the production of this beast for so many years.
mustang isnt even in the same conversation as this beast
Keep in mind this is Best DRIVERS Car. While the Viper is obviously the fastest, and probably quite enjoyable to drive, it may not be the most enjoyable.
No, but ford GT is !!
Even at 3 seconds slower than the record, the ACR is STILL 3 seconds faster than the car in second place. What's even more amazing, is that the Viper TA is also faster than the entire group so far. The Viper really is an amazing machine. I'm so happy I picked one up this year.
This outta put a smile on Alejandro's face.
If anybody is interested in a slightly used soul, I would trade mine for an ACR.
What a beautiful car! Leave it to Dodge to build such an amazing American super car! The sound of this V-10 is intoxicating... I could listen to it all day! Great driving and a great lap, Randy! Great video, thanks!
What a shame that manuals and Naturally Aspirated engines are dying and there goes the Viper the last supercar that did both things the best
Rafael Samardzic GT3RS is both manual and NA...
@@Zeenithian nope. GT3RS is PDK.
So glad to see the GT350R, 1le and Viper ACR do so well.
coolest car ever made
This Viper looks absolutely stunning!
You know BMW FUCKED UP When the m4gts is 0.11 secs faster to an ss 1le
Not when you compare prices in Europe..
you know dodge fucked up, when you have a 8.4l engine that only makes 600ish hp. 2017 gtr's make almost the same power with a 3.8L engine
megaraf jogos twin turbos dude twin rubos 3.8 liter dose not make shit without those turbos and can u imagine that 8,4liter with 2 turbos ?
megaraf jogos and all turbocharged cars suck by the way NA all the way
David Aston Martin makes 600hp out of a 6 liter V12. What are the extra 2,4 litres for in the Viper?!
That was awesome. Randy for president!
Didn't they test the 918 and P1 at Laguna Seca?
Yeah, the quickest lap Randy set in the ACR beats both of them
If I where one of those car companies I would shoot myself knowing a dodge beat my million dollar super car
Tristan Zipp Wow, that's truly impressive.
SRT I love you guys I can’t thank you for everything you do for the racing community
VIPERS THE BEST
When Randy set the lap record he had a team from Dodge providing telemetry feedback, tyre guys checking everything possible and a lot of pressure. To be fair it looked like a bloody hard day at the office. That's the beauty of the Best Drivers Car contest. The cars arrive, are driven and times set.
It must have been nice to finally enjoy the drive without Damocles looking over your shoulder. ;-)
there's no replacement for displacement :P
bravo motortrend! even though randys track times are dramatically different with the same car, you guys upheld journalism integrity👏👏 even in the face of fanboy skepticism
5s faster than M4 gts.. wtf man
i dont get it.. why are you surprised.. how can any bmw on the planet compete with a viper?
Because they said m4 gts is the fastest bmw on track. (Not include full racing version).
joanes bryan Only hypercars can compete with the viper on a track... the bmw is just a sports car.
It's just funny seeing that their priced pretty much the same here and are the same kind of car (purpose-wise) and the M4 gets crushed so hard.
They need something like new ariel atom v12 to compete with that viper lol.
this car is so underrated
im gonna go on forza and lap this track faster in a p1 because i refuse to believe that it is the fastest production time
im back with a time of 1:28.570 which is faster. sadly the acr isnt in forza
On grand Turismo 5 the viper ACR is slower than Mclaren MP4 12c
On Laguna seca
That's crazy how realistic Forza is. So many factors go into a car's lap time and it looks like the game is pretty spot on
but wasnt that the 08 viper. the new one came out long after gt5
Didn't know the Viper got a 1:28, beating the 918. Wonderful machine.
It actually beat the 918 's time at 3 tracks. Also beat the P1 McLaren Here.
JerseyMikeP I know it beat the McLaren here cuz the 918 beat that too. Didn't know about the other tracks but at this point I'm not too surprised.
Wish GM would lend Dodge an 8speed auto out of the Z06. Just to see how fast the Viper really can go. (And yes it can handle the torque, bc the Z06 makes just as much.)
Chrysler has the ZF 8 speed tranny already. It must be an active decision not to put one in it.
In an interview:
SRT President Ralph Gilles said, “Everyone is going to paddle shifts. We see that a lot. We recognize a trend, but that is not what the Viper is about. It really isn’t.
The people who buy (the Viper) relish the manual, they relish the driver’s car, the raw connections to the vehicle. That is what it is about. So we are not chasing rainbows here.”
JerseyMikeP
I remember that interview....but Gilles is/was mainly just a figurehead for the SRT lineup....of course he's going to paint car in a positive light no matter what.
This has to be the winner!
This is like 5 seconds ahead of everything else right?
Incredible machine. RIP old friend. :(
You don’t mess with a car that’s 3000lbs ish with 645HP.
and steam rollers at each corner
Performance, power and precision.
come on,1:28 then 1:30 on viper vs vette NOW 1:31??? where did the 3 seconds go? i thought ppl improve lap times not go slower. wtf
Green track
what does green track mean
Something something conditions. Weather changes, amount of rubber on the track changes, etc.
so many variables for any given day and time.
You can tell how well a car does by the amount of hate it generates in the comments.
This viper can do much better than 1:31
hey thats pretty good
but he did a 1:28 before???
Yeah and a 1:30.46 before that, the age is getting to him :p I joke I joke. Randy, never stop driving.
Shut up idubbz
No stop with your dumbass meme
3 seconds off his best time with the same car is huge! You know its a crazy car when its too much for mr. Pobst!
