Absolutely love these animals. They’re so loyal and caring towards each other and look after one another when the other is injured or ill. He did really well to live many months after the attack. Most other animals wouldn’t have stood a chance.
The cries of terror and pain from the dog that got caught are heartbreaking to listen to, can't imagine how his packmate must've felt knowing how loyal these animals are to each other.

I know there are groups in that area that specialize in wounded animals. I don't think so. The dogs came up on the lions outside where the cars were parked, not from behind. The land rovers were not blocking the dogs' view ahead...they were just preoccupied with the impala. Happens all the time.
Lions mainly see the Dogs as pests, they are not overly concerned with them whereas Hyenas they consider fierce rivals who need to be dealt with properly.

What really happened was he chased the competition away, came back and lions greet each other how they always do. Then he probably went to sleep.
