    The whole controversy around the Wedgewood play was that he was in the fetal position, in the back of his net, unable to move, and the refs allowed the play to continue, despite the puck being in the corner and behind the red line (not an imminent scoring chance). Bednar challenged it citing goaltender interference, not because he thought it actually was, but in hopes the refs would utilize the challenge as an opportunity to make the right call, and to allow the refs to see on replay how bad they F’d it up… if player safety is the priority the league says it is, the whistle should’ve been blown long before the puck found its way into the net. What if a slap shot would’ve nailed the injured player in the back of the head while he was down? This is why the fans and Bednar were irate, not because anyone believed it was actually interference. Keep up the good work, thanks!

      @@irish5884 Maybe that's how you see it, that's cool. What I saw was a coach pulling phony antics to motivate his team...and I complement him for doing it. IT WORKED. As far as the "presser", of course he's going to act pissed, what's he going to do, put on a show, then say..."yeah, I was trying to put a charge under the team"? Had to keep the act going at that point. But again, good for him. His job is to get the team motivated to play to it's potential. The Ave's trailing Buffalo by 2 goals means his team to that point, wasn't playing as the superior team they are. You mean he wasn't pissed that his team was trailing a team that recently lost 13 straight games, but now all of a sudden with the goalie incident, now he had a reason to be pissed? Nope, he smartly used it to light that charge in his team, a team that routinely under performs. He probably wishes he had a goalie incident every game. The Ave's are too talented to be where they are at the moment.

    @astray4525 2 дня назад +76

    So regarding the goalie interference challenge, it was basically obvious it wasn't gonna be successful and Bednar said so, it was more of a FU to the refs because they never called a stoppage despite a ref standing over Wedgewood for seconds on end while he's writhing in pain on the ground and does nothing. The possession matters notion doesn't matter either because the refs themselves never follow those rules, hell they broke that same rule in the Avs last game. So yeah, it was more of a statement challenge than a real one, the refs lost control of that game after the Wedgewood injury.

    • @DMAN-o2e
      @DMAN-o2e 2 дня назад

      No it wasn't a "Fu" to the ref's, it was a great coaching move to play the victim and try to motivate the team. Most of the time that doesn't work, so good on Bednar. He understood either his team from that point(down 4-2), would get run out of the building after the Sabre's went on the PP, or his team would respond. THEY RESPONDED. Good coaching move.
      As far as Wedgie, there wasn't a ref "standing" over Wedgie watching him in pain. The replay clearly shows the the ref started to realize Wedgie was injured while simultaneously, the Sabre's player was putting the puck into the net. The whole sequence from the time Wedgie was run into and the Sabre's scored, took 5-6 seconds, and you can see the ref at the back of the net looking down at Wedgie at about the 5 second mark(after Wedgie went down), right when the puck was going into the net.

      @@eminempond81studios60 So i could just push the other team into the next and purposely injure my goalie, that way the other team loses possession? Sounds a little cheesy, unless the injury is life threatening, which it wasn't. Bad injury, not life threatening.

    • @DMAN-o2e
      @DMAN-o2e День назад

      @@eminempond81studios60 Actually, I realize that I'm a neutral party without the homer bias lens you're looking at it. The delusion is with you. The whole sequence took 5-6 seconds, and the reply clearly shows the ref at about 5 seconds, looking at Wedgie, which was virtually simultaneous to when the goal was scored.
      Just watch the replay, it shows the ref at the back of the net, looking down at Wedgie, starting to realize he is injured, just as the Sabre player wraps the puck around into the net.
      I don't know what you're looking at, but it does seem you can read the minds of the ref's.

    TJ Luxmore should be fired. Worst officiating I've ever seen both ways in a hockey game. It definitely isn't interference but it should be blown dead. If I'm Wedgewood, I'm leveraging the NHLPA and suing the league if that is a serious injury.

      I get being upset about the situation but if you think a court case would have any result other than confirming that the Avs player needed to keep control of the puck in the corner for at least another 3-5 seconds to get a whistle then you are letting emotions prevent you from thinking logically.

    Sabres Avs game was by far the worst officiating in a while, Dahlin got hurt on a play and it was blown dead immediately.
    Wedgie goes down and the ref gets out the way so the Sabres can score, that review wasn't done for goalie interference, Bednar was pissed, that review was a spite review so they had to see how badly they fucked up
    The rule actually exists BECAUSE OF US, because of what happened to Matt Calvert, that a player injured on the play will cause the play to be stopped unless it's an imminent scoring chance which this WASN'T as first Kelly had possession then they let the Sabres get the puck, take it behind the net, JUMP OUT OF THE DAMN WAY TO LET THEM WRAP IT ROUND.
    Absolute fucking joke, to quote Coach from Letterkenny it was FUCKING EMBARASSING!

  • @JasonSmith-pe5py
    @JasonSmith-pe5py 2 дня назад +28

    In the AVS game it wasn't goalie interference cuz our guy pushed him in...but the whistle should've been blown cuz Wedgewood was hurt. As Bednar said they almost always blow it dead if it's a non goalie -so why don't they stop it when it is the goalie not getting up? But justice is served...I didn't think Buffalo could choke worse than when they blew 4-0 lead vs us earlier in the season-but blowing 2 goal lead with barely over 2 minutes left-probably is worse for them-& great for us! And blew another 3-0 2nd period lead-hilarious.Nice to see Byrum back-Im glad we made the trade but no question giving up Bo was not easy,& he scored a big goal tonight. But I work every Av,& Nugget game,-& gotta say-Buffalo,& their fans were pretty damn obnoxious tonight.
    Especially for a team who has like the longest sports playoff drought-along with probably the NY football Jets,& seemingly last made the playoffs when Jimmy Carter was a young man.(OK slight exaggeration) And after that bullshit where they don't blow it dead with Wedgewood hurt(granted it wasn't goalie interference or any Buffalo players fault)-& then the punk ass celebration after. You can take that L(OT loss,)-& don't let the door hit ya in the ass Sabres.Ive never disliked the Sabres or their fans,(bad, opposite conference opponent-so why would I?) But they got what was coming to a lot of them tonight.

    Detroit played Columbus and their affiliates Grand Rapids and Cleveland played at the same time. How often does that happen? Asking for a friend.
    Husso posted a 31 save shutout/shootout win in Cleveland. He looked solid, but was only tested a couple times. Both teams pushed the offense to the outside, GR managed a few good chances late in the 3rd. Cleveland outscored by GR 11-2 in their last three meetings.

    I was at the Rangers Bruins game. There were some back and forth Lets Go Rangers and Lets Go Bruins chant, the game was very open up with a lot of up and down ice. The Goalies stole the show. I would say, the late 2nd hit from Brazeau was a crosscheck to the back of Schneider with Schneider face planted to the board (very similar to the Rempe hit that got him suspended). Even Brazeau was surprise that was not called.

    Would say this is either Askarov 2nd or 3rd best game with the Sharks. His best game to me is hands down the Oilers game. Sure he gave up 3 goals in that game but one was in OT so don't really count that against him. And he also faced 41 shots in regulation with a boat load being high danger scoring chances. Sharks should have been blown out in that game with the way they played on offense and in front of Askarov. Yet he was so good they were like 18 seconds away from winning the game before Oilers tied it. And then it's a toss up between this game and his Flames start over which is 2nd best. Think I would lean with Flames sure let up 2 as opposed to 1 but faced 7 more shots and think a lot more of them were high quality. Where in the Lightning game felt Sharks actually played really good defense and only gave up a few real good looks.

    LOL, Shannon sounded like he couldn’t care less that Wedgewood is injured. Much less that the ref should have blow the play dead. It wouldn’t have mattered if his own player ran into him. You blow the whistle because there’s an injured player on the ice and the puck is in the corner.

    Another thing I’d like to say is I understand the frustration with goal #2 from Carolina, but what in the actual hell was Chucky doing just sitting on top of a player and just looking around like an idiot? This team needs to have some hard practices, and realize that just because you won a cup, does NOT mean you can take this many nights off. If the Cats don’t play physical, they get exposed.
