With Demko, I now wonder if his entire career is at risk. I wish the NHL was more transparent with their injuries because it's hard to find any information about anything. Sad, if the Canucks never had injury troubles in the first place with him after the bubble playoffs, I still believe they beat EDM last year, then probably run the table against DAL with how they played against EDM. Loved to hate watching him play as a kraken fan. But they got Lahkinen, which tells me they know how to find (or optimize) goaltending talent
Oh boy Berger stealing that for us at the end made my night!! I think Brady Tkachuk did that 3 times to the wings last year - gets out of the box and scores immediately. I'm glad to see us finally get one like that.
What was missed in the commentary was the fact that Quick like Shersterkin had to stand on his head for the Rangers to win this game. Still defensive priblems. Good thing Boston doesn't score many goals
Dostal, Askarov, and Wolf Damn Pacific is gonna be a bloodbath in a couple of years if my Ducks and those two other teams make some right moves in the future
At this point, just super glue that Sabres puck into the 32nd spot on your rankings board until either the league expands or we get a new team owner. I wish we could be granted an expansion draft that included management.
Oh, I can read lips well Shannon. Paul Maurice was very angry with his panthers indeed once he learned they ate all the New Years Fudge and he didn't get a nibble! I'd be mad too. haha
I know you got 12 games on tonight so you may have missed it which is fine but for context if you didn’t watch the Carolina game so Tkchauk hooks kinda pushes Kotkanemi he loses his balance and falls into Bobrovsky and Tkchauk holds him down in the crease everyone stopped playing they thought a whistle would be called Carolina did not and Slavin after one save by Bobrovsky made it 2-1 But yeah I thought it was funny Tkchauk in his own goalies crease puts the choke hold on Kotkanemi and ultimately this is what cost Florida at least a point maybe even the win but me as a canes fan will take it all day long.
The jets just did it against Anaheim. Literally they blew a lead with under 5 to go in regulation in both of them, and tonight it was a multigoal lead as well
As a Sharks fan would imagine we did that multiple times last season. Not gonna go back and relive the season by checking each game but I know we lost 10-1 to them and then later in the year gave up 7 goals against them.
Hi Shannon. Happy Friday. I mentioned that 'Refs U Suck' seemed to be a 'Canadian' thing. I stand corrected. The Avs game definitely showed the 'Muricans' chanting.
SEA almost did it again. VAN was pretty lucky to get the W considering they blew another multi-goal lead and a couple of missed calls - most notably the Myers one in OT. But hey, I’ll take the point!
The Ducks with 3 straight wins over the Oilers, Devils, and Jets is very impressive. Maybe they’re actually starting to turn the corner on their rebuild.
TJ Luxmore should be fired. Worst officiating I've ever seen both ways in a hockey game. It definitely isn't interference but it should be blown dead. If I'm Wedgewood, I'm leveraging the NHLPA and suing the league if that is a serious injury.
Same thing happened in the playoffs like 6 years back between DAL and STL where Bishop had his collarbone broken and STL was allowed to get a free goal
I get being upset about the situation but if you think a court case would have any result other than confirming that the Avs player needed to keep control of the puck in the corner for at least another 3-5 seconds to get a whistle then you are letting emotions prevent you from thinking logically.
It’s funny about the panthers GI non call. KK slipped into bob and than tkachuck proceeded to sit on him and keep him there in the crease. That’s why they didn’t call it
Sabres Avs game was by far the worst officiating in a while, Dahlin got hurt on a play and it was blown dead immediately. Wedgie goes down and the ref gets out the way so the Sabres can score, that review wasn't done for goalie interference, Bednar was pissed, that review was a spite review so they had to see how badly they fucked up The rule actually exists BECAUSE OF US, because of what happened to Matt Calvert, that a player injured on the play will cause the play to be stopped unless it's an imminent scoring chance which this WASN'T as first Kelly had possession then they let the Sabres get the puck, take it behind the net, JUMP OUT OF THE DAMN WAY TO LET THEM WRAP IT ROUND. Absolute fucking joke, to quote Coach from Letterkenny it was FUCKING EMBARASSING!
It’s official. I want a behind the scenes “The Hockey Guy” upload. I’d love to see how he gathers this wealth of information. I’d also like to see some footage of him writing ever so meticulously on the white boards, it simply amazes me. Best quote from any video I’ve seen from this channel - “It doesn’t count if it’s Buffalo” So harsh, yet so true.. sadly.
In the AVS game it wasn't goalie interference cuz our guy pushed him in...but the whistle should've been blown cuz Wedgewood was hurt. As Bednar said they almost always blow it dead if it's a non goalie -so why don't they stop it when it is the goalie not getting up? But justice is served...I didn't think Buffalo could choke worse than when they blew 4-0 lead vs us earlier in the season-but blowing 2 goal lead with barely over 2 minutes left-probably is worse for them-& great for us! And blew another 3-0 2nd period lead-hilarious.Nice to see Byrum back-Im glad we made the trade but no question giving up Bo was not easy,& he scored a big goal tonight. But I work every Av,& Nugget game,-& gotta say-Buffalo,& their fans were pretty damn obnoxious tonight. Especially for a team who has like the longest sports playoff drought-along with probably the NY football Jets,& seemingly last made the playoffs when Jimmy Carter was a young man.(OK slight exaggeration) And after that bullshit where they don't blow it dead with Wedgewood hurt(granted it wasn't goalie interference or any Buffalo players fault)-& then the punk ass celebration after. You can take that L(OT loss,)-& don't let the door hit ya in the ass Sabres.Ive never disliked the Sabres or their fans,(bad, opposite conference opponent-so why would I?) But they got what was coming to a lot of them tonight.
Respectfully Shannon I don’t think you’re giving the Avs enough credit for their work in that one. They played a damn good game gs a decent sabres effort
Something I hadn't seen before yesterday: Detroit played Columbus and their affiliates Grand Rapids and Cleveland played at the same time. How often does that happen? Asking for a friend. Husso posted a 31 save shutout/shootout win in Cleveland. He looked solid, but was only tested a couple times. Both teams pushed the offense to the outside, GR managed a few good chances late in the 3rd. Cleveland outscored by GR 11-2 in their last three meetings.
I was at the Rangers Bruins game. There were some back and forth Lets Go Rangers and Lets Go Bruins chant, the game was very open up with a lot of up and down ice. The Goalies stole the show. I would say, the late 2nd hit from Brazeau was a crosscheck to the back of Schneider with Schneider face planted to the board (very similar to the Rempe hit that got him suspended). Even Brazeau was surprise that was not called.
Would say this is either Askarov 2nd or 3rd best game with the Sharks. His best game to me is hands down the Oilers game. Sure he gave up 3 goals in that game but one was in OT so don't really count that against him. And he also faced 41 shots in regulation with a boat load being high danger scoring chances. Sharks should have been blown out in that game with the way they played on offense and in front of Askarov. Yet he was so good they were like 18 seconds away from winning the game before Oilers tied it. And then it's a toss up between this game and his Flames start over which is 2nd best. Think I would lean with Flames sure let up 2 as opposed to 1 but faced 7 more shots and think a lot more of them were high quality. Where in the Lightning game felt Sharks actually played really good defense and only gave up a few real good looks.
LOL, Shannon sounded like he couldn’t care less that Wedgewood is injured. Much less that the ref should have blow the play dead. It wouldn’t have mattered if his own player ran into him. You blow the whistle because there’s an injured player on the ice and the puck is in the corner.
You guys all fail to realize that while you are solely focused on one game and seeing the whole situation from start to finish, Shannon is watching 7-8 other games at the same time!! He probably either missed parts of the fallout, or flicked back to the game, saw it was on a review, and went to another game that had action happening. I understand that you're upset with what happened, but you need to look objectively and not accuse other people.

Greer said it best about the Panthers “Our play is pathetic and it’s disrespectful to the fans”. This team CLEARLY lacks motivation, and doesn’t enjoy playing hockey right now. They also look very slow….. I’m glad Paul addressed it. Another thing I’d like to say is I understand the frustration with goal #2 from Carolina, but what in the actual hell was Chucky doing just sitting on top of a player and just looking around like an idiot? This team needs to have some hard practices, and realize that just because you won a cup, does NOT mean you can take this many nights off. If the Cats don’t play physical, they get exposed.
It was December 10th Demko came back because I was on my way to the game when my partner and I got in an accident on our motorcycle. Spent the night at the hospital and the Canucks didn’t even get the win.
I only saw the finishing minutes of the Tampa - San Jose game so I don't know exactly what happened. But Tampa was without Hedman in the end after he had taken a puck to the head. Ouch.
Score one for the good guys! Rangers always play better with Jonathan Quick in the net. Still convinced this is also a locker room problem. While Drury has a lot to fix on defense because the young Rangers D is not consistently performing, that includes the talented but undersized Zac Jones.

They allowed Buffalo to wrap around the net while Wedgewood was down & in pain. The whistle should have been blown.
3 in a row, and that too against very good opponents 🔥
The gutsy style with which we play combining with our top tier goaltending, man I would not be shocked if we finished 5th in the division this year
You and San Jose both have bright futures . Really hope to see you guys keep growing. Definitely future contenders
I genuinely believe Shannon actually didn’t see the Avs/buffalo situation happen/play out and just was going off game summary. There is no possible way he can watch every second of every game every night especially when there are multiple games going on at the same time. Was def a big miss, but I don’t fault him
As a goalie, I find it so fckn inferiating when I pull my groin or shoulder, and I'm laying in pain unable to move, and the ref still doesn't blow the play dead in our zone. When I'm in net all I'm focused on is getting in front of the puck, when I get hurt I'm completely helpless to do anything. When the goalie is to hurt to move, the play should be blown dead, I get why Bednar is mad.
Goalies more than any other players don't have to worry about extra injury from a puck.
@@maxfish4270 then you clearly havnt watched enough games, because that isnt the case
The Wings getting hot with the new coach 🔥
The Avs player made very light contact with Benson while Benson was doing a spin in the BLUE paint. Isn’t the blue paint the goalies ice to protect the goalie? Benson didn’t just get shoved strait into the goalie
The Buffalo player wanted to stop outside the paint. Going into the paint was a result of the Avs player contact.
@ he was in the paint when contact was made, he cut back into the blue paint even further when he felt contact
@@cal8362 If I could post a screenshot I would. You are simply factually incorrect. Professional hockey players know they need to stop outside the crease. The contact begins before and continues throughout the Buffalo fall.
@@maxfish4270 you’re not seeing clearly if you think he got shoved in the crease. can clearly see benson over extends into the crease and in the battle with kelly is forced back onto wedgewood. if he had not been in the crease it would’ve been him falling outside the crease from losing the battle
Was there for the Sharks/Lightning game. Was a blast and nice to see the Sharks play a solid 3 periods
For real. Third period breakdowns have been the routine. Especially with a lead.
Haha, love the Buf-Avs part. Made my day😂
Avs responded by winning. Best way to do it.
Is it just me, or has Pacific become a hub for good goalies, especially for young ones
The only thing that could’ve made that Avs comeback win better would be the DJ playing “All The Small Things” after the OT goal.
Two things; wow did BUF/COL fall apart quick. And really impressed with Arttu Hyry's debut for the Stars.
“And now I have to change boards.” 😂
Don’t know why but that killed me.
Dostal, Askarov, and Wolf
Damn Pacific is gonna be a bloodbath in a couple of years if my Ducks and those two other teams make some right moves in the future
Throw in Daccord, too. Yeah, Pacific is gonna bring the goaltending.
And the Kings have Carter George and Hampton Slukynski on the way, besides Portillo looking very good as well in the A !...
In a few years teams are really going to hate the california trip again.
Sharks have been making really good moves. I’m crossing my fingers hoping they get Shaefer this draft
So when was the last time a team lost two games in brutal fashion to the same opponent in the same season
The jets just did it against Anaheim. Literally they blew a lead with under 5 to go in regulation in both of them, and tonight it was a multigoal lead as well
That’s true
As a Sharks fan would imagine we did that multiple times last season. Not gonna go back and relive the season by checking each game but I know we lost 10-1 to them and then later in the year gave up 7 goals against them.
That goal with Tkachuk mauling Kotkaniemi in the crease was peak karma. Great playoff-caliber game between the Canes and Cats!
I was surprised that play wasn't discussed more, lots of storylines there.
@88tallyn if it weren't for the wedgewood drama it probably would have. Got overshadowed big time
Hi Shannon. Happy Friday. I mentioned that 'Refs U Suck' seemed to be a 'Canadian' thing. I stand corrected. The Avs game definitely showed the 'Muricans' chanting.
I love what you said there that was the most buffalo game to ever buffalo. Great summary of how the game was.
Anaheim seems to have Winnipeg’s number for some reason. Both games they score in the dying minutes to bring it back.
SEA almost did it again. VAN was pretty lucky to get the W considering they blew another multi-goal lead and a couple of missed calls - most notably the Myers one in OT. But hey, I’ll take the point!
Wild comes back after losing 4 straight and gets 4-1 record. Hopefully they can keep it up!
4-1 in the last 5 and watch THG drop 'em even further is his rankings.
Tkachuk, being stupid pinning Kotkaniemi down in the crease, cost the Panthers the game. I love it! What an idiot!
Go Sharks! A fun win! (When they’re this few and far between, they’re all fun)
Good to see you in a Sharks jersey again. Solid win tonight.
Wedgie goes down and the ref gets out the way so the Sabres can score, that review wasn't done for goalie interference, Bednar was pissed, that review was a spite review so they had to see how badly they fucked up
The rule actually exists BECAUSE OF US, because of what happened to Matt Calvert, that a player injured on the play will cause the play to be stopped unless it's an imminent scoring chance which this WASN'T as first Kelly had possession then they let the Sabres get the puck, take it behind the net, JUMP OUT OF THE DAMN WAY TO LET THEM WRAP IT ROUND.
Absolute fucking joke, to quote Coach from Letterkenny it was FUCKING EMBARASSING!
Dahlin wasnt even hurt he just got up slow and the Avs were in possession of the puck at the time iirc
LGRW!!!!! Crazy to see the difference in the play from these Wings. Todd seems to have had a positive influence.
It’s official. I want a behind the scenes “The Hockey Guy” upload. I’d love to see how he gathers this wealth of information. I’d also like to see some footage of him writing ever so meticulously on the white boards, it simply amazes me.
Best quote from any video I’ve seen from this channel - “It doesn’t count if it’s Buffalo”
So harsh, yet so true.. sadly.
That goal when Wedgwood got hurt shouldn’t have counted the goalie was hurt the refs should have blow. The whistle
Ducks are making a habit out of these comebacks.
Something I hadn't seen before yesterday:
Detroit played Columbus and their affiliates Grand Rapids and Cleveland played at the same time.
Again, 'Player Safety' means nothing to the NHL.
You blow the whistle because there’s an injured player on the ice and the puck is in the corner.
yeah like he didnt want to talk about it at all smh...
@@Sillywabbit22yeah but that requires logical reasoning, which is not a strong suit for sports fans
@@Kayametra it’s not about logical reasoning. Shannon elaborated on the challenge when he clearly didn’t know the details of the situation. That’s fine because I know he can’t watch 7 games simultaneously. But in that situation, that’s when you refrain from further commenting on the challenge. He failed to do that and made himself look foolish.
Hes watched one of his main teams lose in the playoffs due to that exact non stoppage a few years ago between DAL and STL
vlasic is point per game pace rn, sharks in 5 Vs habs
I fear we may have some contoversy considering the AVS game in the news tommorrow
That avs game was terribly officiated. Maybe the worst I have ever seen in my 35 years of watching hockey. Avs definitely deserved the win in the end. Fun game to watch. Hopefully wedgie can heal up quickly.
Wings need to work on keeping their leads.
Both teams played good though, entertaining game.
Possibly a future rivalry.
Love the jersey.
When I saw Demko go down I envisioned Shannon just grabbing his TV and tossing it out the window.
It's kinda crazy thinking that might be the last stop on Ovechkin of Fleury's career.
Played in so many great playoffs series against each other, including the Stanley Cup Ovi won
"The referee is told that he sucks." - Love that
He doesn't know if you don't tell him.
The fans declared that the refs drink through straws , as the late , great sportswriter Larry Felser of the Buffalo News wrote back when.....😊
Go Knights Go!
Thank you.
Yeah I'm bummed the Caps lost in the SO, but Holy crap the Wild are LEGIT dude. That is a GOOD hockey team.
Every morning when i wake up and every night before i go to bed i thank god for not making me a sabres fan
The Sharks are winning the cup this year just like the St Louis Blues did in 2019!
Okay
Valuable lesson. No talking about the Sens….
Sharks bust another 8-game skid, you see the potential and they got Pickles back! This is starting to show they are going to be a tough AF team for everyone in the near future.
After your previews yesterday, did you jinx both Winnipeg and Calgary???
Winnipeg tied an NHL record last night with zero penalty minutes called.
Extremely re-assuring game from the Hurricanes. They looked really good tonight against a really good team. Maybe the players are doing a bit of energy management this regular season. Time will tell, of course.
@@TheZenomeProject game was great until the refs handed the Canes the W.
@@choppergunner8650you mean when Matthew wouldn’t even let Koko get up. Yes it’s weird they didn’t blow the whistle but still Matthew should have got off him
@deadmanwalking8740 Tkachuk let go of him before the puck was in the back of the net. However Kotkaniemi made 0 effort to get up, he was just laying there
@@choppergunner8650he was still on top of him after the goal was called. Then players came over and pulled him off. Tkachuk just doing dumb things that cost his team.
@skc1486 no he wasn't lmao
Avs score 2 to tie, then the OT winner.
I haven’t had so much fun watching the last couple minutes of a game since the Blackhawks took the Cup away from Boston in 2013.
Hope Wedgewood is OK, but that looked like season-ending surgery. Hope I’m wrong. .
Ovechkin is still on pace to score 54 goals… he missed 16 games this season. He’ll get the record this year
Wow . Marc Eduard Vlasic. I feel like that guy is 60 years old lol. Pickles. Been in the league forever.
Watched the Avs feed in the Avs/Buffalo game last night. Gonna watch the last 10 minutes of the Buffalo feed today because eff the Sabers.
Should the whistle have been blown in the avs game when the goalie went down?
Bednar knew it wasn't interference. He wad just mad
The hockey gods punishing the Canucks for the perfect season they had last year has not been fun.
If the Cats don’t play physical, they get exposed.
lol the most unexcited I've seen from THG about the Rangers/Bruins game.
Ouch.
Quite the Buffaloey game indeed.
Even the announcers were deflated.
In the stats for the bolts / sharks game, yiu neglected to mention the Spinabrini.

Score one for the good guys! Rangers always play better with Jonathan Quick in the net. Still convinced this is also a locker room problem. While Drury has a lot to fix on defense because the young Rangers D is not consistently performing, that includes the talented but undersized Zac Jones.
It’s crazy they don’t stop play when goalies get slammed into full speed. Seems like the league doesn’t care about goalie safety
