Dave, you nailed another helmet paint tutorial. Thanks for these great ideas and techniques. I'm starting a BS Boba helmet since finding your channel and appreciate it. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to your next one. :)
This is just Badass. I love all your videos. You can take a cheap China helmet, and make it look like a million bucks. Great work brother. And keep them coming. I'm learning a lot from your videos.
These videos are awesome man, most of the stuff out there has a lot of talking and less of the work being done, but the way these are filmed is great. Could even throw a little asmr tag on it to get the numbers up!
Good job! No, I mean GREAT job!! I'd want to see you painting some sort of "lightsaber burn" mark, you know how metal burns and leaves like a rainbow of colors? I'm planning of doing it to my helmet when I get it but I'd love to see your try on it.
I've got one of these, pretty happy with it other than the visibility being reduced to 2 small eye slits, Maybe I can cut it out and replace it with my own visor..
@@daveofalltrades805 Not yet, I do have a visor here I intend to cut out and replace, and to ensure I don't mess with the structural integrity of the helmet, I'm going to brush the interior with resin + liquid hardener and let it dry, should stiffen it up a bit.
did you try spraying the helmet with clear coat before doing all the colors? that will fill up any gaps under the masking tape then you should be able to get a better result! Love the Vid!!!
You just inspired me to buy that exact helmet! I’m a woman on the smaller side, so I don’t think size will be an issue. Now I only need to figure out a way to build a viewfinder... hmm, probably will cover up any ugly stuff, since it’ll most definitely have some greebles anyways. It’s for my zabrak Mandalorian oc, so it’ll need “holes” and a “hatch mechanism” to widen them so her horns can “fit through” (they’ll be modeled on top of course, but I’m anal about this sort of thing in my designs) Wish my luck, it’ll be my first Star Wars custom 😭 It’s shipping next month and I’m a bit anxious about how well-packaged it’ll be
As someone suggested to me, once you mask a line with tape, hit it with the existing color or clear coat before moving on to the color you want it to be. That way you’ll get sharper lines because the seep will be the existing color. Other than that, these helmets take to paint like a Mon Cal to water so you should have a blast
I love this helmet. Being a 5’8 adult the black series helmet makes me look like a bobble headed Mando. In my defense the black series helmet is oversized from that of the actual movie prop. The only helmet that comes smaller with the same/better quality is that EFX $800 one. Pass lol
I ordered the same helmet and it showed up the other day. I'm going to custom paint it for the kid. The wife doesn't like the Mandalorian name I chose for my daughter...Shi' Thead.
Great work! My son wants to be Din for Halloween so this bucket may actually be exactly what he needs. Is there anything specific to look up when looking for one?
They seem firm but fair - if you can fix the flaws from the manufacturer you might have a shot. I'd hit them up on their Facebook and see what they say
I swear im blown away more and more everytime you do one of these
hey man! thank you so much for using our track!!! cool video!! Nice Star Wars helmet!🤘🔥
Thank you too! Great track. Let's do it again, eh?
i was willing to know what was the tracks because it s great!!!

That’s awesome! Thanks man. I have a black series coming up too! Can’t wait to get that started
One of the coolest colour schemes I've seen. Brilliant job.
Thank you! Cheers!

Thanks bud!

That's an impressively accurate sculpt for a cheap range replica.
I agree! Just wish you could still find them anywhere.
Not sure if it’s been asked but what’s the banging track playing around 12:40? Sitting here air drumming and watching your awesome work 😅

Oh yeah, that would be cool. I'll have to look into it!
like how that box is wrapped
It was well protected. Very satisfying to slice open!

Did you try it? If so, how'd it go?

Love the "Visor (Not Thong)" template at the top
Yeah man! Don’t want to get those mixed up
@@daveofalltrades805 of course, happens too often. Gotta make sure this time

Thos looks so cool, what was the brown stuff you use to make it look dirty at the end?
I’m going to be doing something similar to this so do you have any other tips about painting a helmet like that? I’m getting the same one.

Wondering if your gonna do a custom paz vizsla helmet. Would be cool
I want to! I’ll have to start selling some helmets to justify the costs 🧐

That’s a lot of credits! This one was a lot of fun though
I’m picking up a ruby this weekend $30 with a crack in the visor

It's in the description
I searched “hard Mandalorian helmet” and went by reviews instead of descriptions for the most part
I want to replace the visor what visor do you recommend
I didn’t change this one so I can’t promise it’ll work, but I’ve had success heating and bending Sellstrom replacement visors for other helmets.
Thanks
What do you use to hole the salt in place?
Your videos are inspiring me just ordered a rubies so I can destroy it... In a good way
I’ve tried hair spray and also liquid latex masking fluid. Experimentation is the way!
I don’t know why but I love this design so much! (Probably because it’s amazing!) 🤩
Btw can you see through the visor?
You can see through the horizontal eye part, but not the vertical part of the T.

Meant to ask you if you'd seen these helmets, guess you had. lol But man, they're small.
So close! I really wanted it to be excellent
I am honest, I am tempted by one of these. But if my noggin does not fit...would be a shame.
They’re so fun to paint. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed
Wow, this look like an old Don Post Boba helmet lol...
