    3:13 I can say that this is actually incorrect, something a lot of people still fail to understand is that the stormtroopers are not bad at aiming, they are well trained and good soldiers. The reason why they missed every shot on the death star was because Tarkin ordered them to so that Leia could escape from the death star and lead the empire to the rebel base. This was said in the movie. In the end, the stormtroopers ARE precise, just Disney ruined them.

      Also there is the thing that the force may be assisting some and hindering others. Like in the Rogue One scene "I am one with the force..." where they all miss him as long as he has his faith shield.
      And people like Luke, Leia, and even Han may just know when to duck or when to jag a bit to not get hit due to their force intuition. "The force is strong with this one" also goes a long way towards "this one is hard to hit".

      I believe its actually from the fall of the empire, and when bibba took over. he was prob one of the few survivors that they caught and 'punished'. this is also apparent since you saw them 'installing' the bucket heads on spikes shortly after boba gets out. remember, they had to restore order after jabba got chocked out by a bikini clad lady. so bibba separated the districts. so its very likely that is also the case. also stormtrooper armor is made of plasteel, which is good at absorbing blaster bolts and distributing the effect to the rest of the body, usually incapacitating the wearer over killing them. it is very poor against everything else. so it being melted, but still mostly present is because of its poor chemical resistance. i think that trooper was 'killed' more recently.

    In Obi-Wan's defense, the Tuskan Raiders use slugthrowers, not blasters. So when he's talking about the blaster marks, he might be saying that the sand people are inaccurate with blasters because they are too adjusted to the supersonic ballistics of a slugthrower instead of the slow-speed, seemingly-linear, non-ballistic trajectory of a blaster.

    • @FNLastname
      @FNLastname 2 года назад +3

      when the script was written, all gun-like weapons were blasters. it was later in other books that classified 'projectile weapons' as slug throwers. I don't even think any movies or shows used the term slug throwers, I could be wrong.
      also, sand people have a general distrust with technology that is not of their own. which is why they dont typically use blasters, or speeders. they are seen as primitives because of that, but their history tells them that technology is what lead to the loss of the water on Tatooine (which is sorta true, but not canon for the rakata empire, yet)

I could have elaborately described the qualities of blaster bolts as following a purely linear trajectory (with respects to local conditions and not to a non-planetary frame of reference) and a relatively slow rate of travel along this same trajectory, but it was just easier to compare them to a hitscan weapon in an FPS with a delayed particle effect.

    • @FNLastname

    I think everyone forgets....when you fall into the Sarlaac pit, you don't die. You're still conscious, are aware, though more like a half-awake, lingering dream state, and you're in agony as it both feeds from you and keeps you alive for a millennium after initially connecting its tissues and circulatory system into your own. The storm trooper isn't dead; any other captured beings in the Sarlaac's belly would likewise be not dead (unless having died before falling in). Further, as I understand it, there is no filtering of atmospheric gasses in a stormtrooper's respirator, only particle filtration. Not sure where they got the idea they needed such a plot device, but it's not correct as far as I know. If anyone has clarification on this by legitimate sources, let me know.

  • @hatuletoh
    @hatuletoh 2 года назад +47

    I always took Obi-Wan's "only Stormtroopers..." quote to have referred to where the hits on the Jawa crawler had been placed. In other words, Obi-Wan was saying, "this vehicle was shot up by someone who knew where and how to hit it so as to disable it. The hits are centered around critical parts of the machine. Sand people don't have that kind of technical knowledge, and wouldn't have known how to have focused their shots on the delicate parts of the crawler; therefore, Imperial Stormtroopers." It's still kind of an excuse for the line, but it makes sense in-universe that an ancient old sand crawler could keep the Jawas safe from the random, hit-and-run attacks of the local Tuscan raiders, but wasn't sturdy enough to stand up to a coordinated attack from modern weapons wielded by people with the knowledge of how to exploit the machine's weaknesses.

    Possible rebuttals to claims though:
    1) stromtroopers are accurate as heck, it’s the gear and helmet, this was stated and shown multiple times throughout rebels, novels, etc.
    2) the tuskens are inaccurate, boba had trained with them and became one with them, thus improving their accuracy. In episode 1, the tuskens have absolutely 0 aim while shooting at the racers, only hitting 1 shot on Anakins podracer in the back although there were like 8 tuskens and it was an open track with multiple podracers on it.
    Of course, anything is subject to change and it’s up for interpretation, just my thoughts

    Obi-Wan was not lying about Stormtroopers.
    1) At the point in the movie that line is given, we've seen the Stormtroopers as nothing less than ruthlessly effective.
    2) The Stormtroopers are under orders to let the group escape the Death Star after they spring Leia.
    3) Stormtroopers as portrayed in the original trilogy are considerably MORE accurate than real-world soldiers.
    Also, the main characters having plot armor makes sense in universe. Every time the Stormtroopers become unable to hit the broadside of a barn(discounting the Death Star escape due to reason #2), there is a Force sensitive character in the group, and we know Force sensitives can sometimes influence the world around them without knowing it.

    “Obi Wan was lying through his teeth”
    Fir someone who claims to know a lot about Star Wars lore you don’t seem to know much about stormtroopers or how they fought the rebellion. Stormtroopers were known to be precise and deadly accurate when told to shoot to kill. They won almost every battle that they fought and only missed when ordered to do so, so they could follow the rebels or capture them alive.

  • @mammyaondiciple3570

    Unfortunatly stormtroopers have fallen to the joke that all stormtrooper cant shoot. Disney kind of ran with it even though in cannon we see stormtroopers being very accurate and a very effective soilder even more so than clones from what we see of them fight on the tantive and echo base. However the only time people remember is the deathstar scenes where it is immediately revealed that the empire let them go with the princess and it doesnt make sense to shoot to kill when your trying to guide a target to move a specific way.

    The Mandalorian also made fun of the Stormtrooper aim first in Season 1 Ep. 6 and then in Ep. 8. In Episode 6, Mando was introduced to Mayfeld by Ran as an ex-Imperial Sharpshooter and Mando was skeptical about Mayfeld's skill and Mayfeld replied that "He wasn't a Stormtrooper" meaning that he CAN aim. It was more obvious in Ep. 8 when 2 Stormtroopers waiting on their speeders outside the town to receive confirmation to enter after snatching the baby Yoda. They tried to shoot at a target close range to stave off boredom and both of them missed horribly. When IG11 suddenly showed up, one of them, out of reflex action, took one shot at IG11 BUT that was also a miss and the droid wasn't even 15 feet from the trooper.

    It's Finn. He defected, flew a TIE, crashed, got lost in the desert, fell into the Sarlacc and over the course of x years went delusional with thirst, hunger and lack of oxygen, confused Tatooine for a place called Jakku, dreamed up finding people, a girl, flying off world, wielding a lightsabre, fighting a war with those rebel terrorists Han and Leia he'd heard so much about in briefings. As the Sarlacc consumed him the dream became a nightmare. The Death Star destroyed in an ocean, the emporer dead and exiled to a world no one had heard of. A jedi master drinking blue milk from the tit, ghosts that could touch things and people surviving the vacuum of space. Eventually, it fades to black. The rebels win. Finn is the ultimate third wheel in his final moments in trippy dreamland. The Sarlacc has its way. The acid burns, his breath short and bones aching. He dies and with it, those dreams and that reality.

      actually, their armor is designed for limited space activities. its a watered down, but more general purpose armor then what the clones used. basically, it had a little of everything, because they needed a trooper force that can deal with anything, anywhere at a lower cost. specialized armors were rare in the empire. but they still existed.
      Keep in mind, stormtroopers are part of the imperial navy. there is still the normal soldiers that are part of the imperial army. stormtroopers are trained in a watered down version of ARC trooper training. this however was dependent on which academy they went too. but for the most part, stormtroopers are actually better trained then the normal troopers from the imperial army, which are usually just conscripts.
