I love that prisons have a firefighting program. I lived by a guy who had been incarcerated, and he proudly talked about his training and is a 'Hot Shot' now. Prisons have wild horse training programs, and its wonderful. Same with dog training programs. My son adopted a Puppy On Parole, and loved that dog. Programs like this give them a Trade, and it boosts their morale and confidence considerably. It gives them something to look forward to. Training programs have shown that the recidivism rate goes down. I believe strongly the firefighters deserve better pay though, because they are literally putting their lives on the line to help others.
My son is a Captain of the US Forest Service. He has experience in rehab and a second chance at life 💚 Stop the negative energy that comes with being an inmate. My son has told me, that most of guys are better workers and dedicated and no complaints. My son is a God fearing man who was raised in the Bible teaching.

I don’t know what you’re doing out there. But. Maybe you should have those reservoirs filled with water. And make sure your hydrants have water. And use ocean water.
Tought they didn't have this anymore. I was in a prison fire camp in my late 20's. We didn't see to much big fires but they paid better than anything else in prison. Regardless u still cud not apply to b a firefighter when u got out.
This proves that sometimes releasing rehabilitated inmates can actually be helpful especially if they contributed to society. Hopefully the new DA will take notes from some of this for the policies and decisions he will make under his term.

Currently they receive 1.00 per hour. It’s time to raise it up and even if the money is invested for them it’s got to be increased.

I think this is VERY awesome. You have to give credit to Newsom where it's due and this is one of those areas. I just wish he wouldn't have sacrificed basic infrastructure and security to do it. He made a big mistake not prioritizing that.

The LACFD Chief said that the surplus equipment that was donated had been sitting in storage, and none of it has hampered their efforts to fight the January 2025 wildfire outbreak. What they have lacked is the personnel necessary to fight four separate fires of this magnitude. Please don’t spread rumors and lies.
