Great video. I purchased mine on 12/28. I love it. SUV without the truck feeling. I have the same exterior color, seat color, and packages as you, except no M Sport. The dealer had no X5s with M styling, and I wanted to get the car within the current calendar year. No M styling would have been a deal-breaker on a black color, but I'm fine without it on Skyscraper Grey. I got the engine light on from day one. Service appointment in 2 days from now. Also, I cannot grasp the drive modes. As you said, it uses up the electric range first, then changes to gas. I think battery Hold and Sport will switch to gas, even if there is remaining battery range. But what is the Hybrid mode in addition to the electric? Hybrid mode does not seem to change anything vs Electric Individual. Electric first, then gas when battery is depleted.
I found a secret way to keep the car on when you exit! = No more sweating!! 2 ways to do it. hit the sport mode button on the center console or pull back the drive selector one time it also automatically puts it in sport mode and keeps the car on when you get out. I also use that trick when passing someone cuz it's easy to feel for the selector to engage sport for more power. To get the car back into original mode after passing just pull back one more time to the selector. Hope these tips help.
What are you even telling, moment you exit, the vehicle will shift to P from which mode of gear selection it is. In the iDrive setting there is an option to disable turnoff car when exiting.
Bought 25 50e month ago. It is a very quick suv for just 3000.00 more than the standard x5. No brainer. My guess is 5 years from now the hybrids will have 100 miles of EV and BMW will have full M versions with 600 hp.
Great video and lovely car. I particularly love how your X5 is spec'd out.....exterior and interior. Complete "cooy and paste" for me. Do you have the "Air Suspension" ?
Yes! It can lower and raise at the press of a button. At the tailgate and inside armrest. Of course it lowers at speed. Super nice. I’m short so I sometimes lower it to load the trunk.
Just took possession of this vehicle. Watched too many videos to understand how it works but this one is an excellent video overview. Car is incredible and thanks Robert. Well done.
Car is fire. I have a X3 right now which I adore, but for my next car I'm considering an X5. I would love a hybrid, but currently have nowhere to plug it in, so I doubt I would get a lot of use out of it.
6 weeks between fillups is great, but it's time to ditch the gas completely and fill up at home! Nothing like a full tank of "gas" every morning, right? Love the review!
Off topic but.... Say you are a audio file and wants great tunes for your ride.... If you have the HK 14 speaker system that comes with the car ie the best one you can get as the B&W system for $3,500 isn't an option. Here is a option that actually is SUPERIOR than the B&W system .....you will be blown away. Answer: Bavsound replacement speakers and you gotta get the subs too. The speakers are $950 and the subs are $650. Because of the plug and play of the speakers install time for everything is 3 hours ist. So for under 2k including install your sound will better than a live concert. No matter your taste in music Pitbull, R&B etc it's the most incredible upgrade you can do to the 50e. P.S. Bavsound doesn't pay me... my local install car stereo guy told me about them. He has done a bunch of speaker upgrades and has gotten the same feedback from everyone!!!
Back in the day. I would throw 2k at speakers before I left the lot. My priorities have changed. Gotten older. And to be honest I love the system in the e50. The subs under the front seats. Great touch. PS. I’m on a 3 year lease so there is also that. I’m sure the upgrade is worth it and thank you for sharing.

My understanding on the regeneration to 4 mi after it hits 0 is it's never really 0 in the 1st place. Example it hits 0 on electric on your gauge, however you floor it to pass someone you get some extra juice in the reserve of the electric to give you that punch over the v6 engine. Hope this helps....
@@Frumba57 MY take is and from what I've been told BMW keeps some reserve electric for when you need to pass a car etc need the extra go go that the torque of the electric provides.
Dude. Did you get it from Tom Bush orange park? I’m about to get mine this week from the Same place. Did you get any discount? Also did they just offer you the hat?
I got mine from the auto mall down by Daytona. Once you sit down to make the deal, and they put your price on paper, tell them you will need a hat, for you and your significant other! I also got them to throw in a rubber mat for the trunk!
Oh it will definitely run out of charge. But no worries! This thing kicks into gas mode without you noticing!!! I get about 45 miles of EV. I charge at night at home.
Great video! I ordered an X5 50e fully loaded with an Individual paint, I can't wait to receive it! Im' coming from an F90 M5. Did you encounter any issues with the X5 ? I've read quite a few post on Bimmer on the car not charging, or throwing a cell...
The check engine light comes on time to time. Just schedule a loaner. Not a big deal. Usually not charging is a charger issue. Both car and charger have a programmable schedule. They don’t always get along Go into your chargers app. Force the charge. Viola!
Can you program the mirrors to close before entering/exiting your garage as part of the self-parking feature? I like to park close to passenger side to give more room to open driver side doors.
@ like have them closed while your driving? You can hit the close button. But it auto closes when you get out. Auto opens when you unlock or get close enough with key.
@ Correct. I already manually hit the close button on my Jeep GC now and was just curious but understand it may have not been tested in your programming. I’m sure I’m one of the very few who close them before exiting/entering while trying to get as close as possible to the door frame.
Great review! BMW for sure skimped on the electric battery cooling valve as my check engine light popped in the first month. Love the power, elegance, and efficiency of the battery/engine. You'll for sure need to tint the windows as the sun is merciless on heating up the vehicle during the hotter months. My battery tops out at 53 miles after a charge, but some customers get low 40's? 😒. Agree that the 4 mile cap on the regenerative charge is a head scratcher as well. Overall, the 2024 is 5 of the spear and hits the mark, so im excited to see how they improve over the years as the market catches up. Hopefully, we can squeeze in a tax credit as well!
Yes/no. It’s a PHEV. So the motor turns off regardless. If you want to keep the engine running you have to put it in Sport mode. Or from your app. You can keep HVAC going 30 min at a time.
