When I found out you'd made this video I saved it to my watch later immediately!
After my Brakeless era, coming back to Brakes like most people I went Odyssey M2/GTX-R/EVO2 set-up, ended up not running my Front Brake & Gyro set-up & went Brakeless again.
Then I started taking Tracks/Trails more seriously & went with a Fly Bikes set-up, similar to the Kink stuff, super easy to setup & maintain. Why more/every Company doesn't adopt the double Allen Key adjustment spring caps is beyond me!!
I've been very interested in the Kink Brakes, the whole lot is extremely well designed & thought out! The Lever is super minimal & I'm interested in how it will feel being more flat as opposed to the curve in the Fly Lever. Cable & Brake seems like a no brainer! If you're gunna run these get the Cable too kinda deal. Kink also sell them as a full kit at a discounted price also so that very much peaks my interests!
I think when the time comes the Kink Set-up will almost certainly be top of the list!
The lower dual cable is sick
yeah a really really well thought off brakes/set-up 👌👌👌
Great video. Your setup is perfect for these videos. I have those brakes and gyro and I would love to see a detailed video of you setting them up using all the kink parts.
I’d love to see it installed on the bike because I’m debating on grabbing these gyro setup.
The break leaver reminded me of a fly bikes break leaver
A+ brake set up from Kink. Also pro tip, they probably sent you the upper for the Kink lever and a universal so you could use it with a different brand lever 👌
This man knows things.
Awesome video! There’s a dual upper cable for kink brake lever and a dual cable for universal brake levers.
I been running kink cables and gyros for a few years. Kink has done a great job!
Please install these on your trail bike
I would love to see these being installed and how they perform
The simplicity is really drawing my attention
Last gyro I installed and setup was an odyssey gtx for my mate and it was a pain
Then I had to adjust again after the cables stretched and he now took them off and runs a straight cable
So see a simple gyro like this is a godsend
I want one
Even if there’s better more powerful brakes
I want these cause they just look fantastic
Funny. I just bought a Kink Myriad gyro. Looks great and fits well around my headset cap, but not that happy with it actually. Because it has a nylon bushing and not bearings, it makes a plastic-ish binding sound when I spin the bars with the back brake engaged. I tried lubricating the gyro, but it didn't seem to help. I'm gonna try the Total Chaos gyro next since it has bearings.
Been looking for good plug and play brakes! Thanks!
There's nothing better than a box opening day !!!
The fact you get a load of kinky stickers/posters within the package is cool af ... all they need to do is add sweets lol 😆
I bet you have a ton of stickers ?
I would pay for a bundle lol
I love my kink brake set up with the one piece cable!
Yeah, show us the all kink brake parts on your trail bike.
Super helpful video/ Thank you/
Love to see the new brake system on your bike 🚲 give it a test Run
Matt is super cool dude from what I’ve heard but kink is just a great brand man they really do things the right way from their team and customers and products !!
I'd like to se you put the kink gyro setup on the trail bike
One of the upper cables is Kink lever specific, and the other is Universal
Man I’ve been thinking about running a front brake this makes me want to upgrade to a front and back duel cable set up. I’ll bet this is going to costa bunch so maybe it will be awhile.
Put those through the LIP LORD test. DO IT :) ahhahaha Much love
Great video Brant! I too love my kink dual lower gyro setup, it all works really well together ( even though I use the Odyssey lever and upper) also I may have missed it but I don't think you mentioned the brake arms being made from 7075 alum. Which is said to be stiffer than others. I think the only flex in my brakes is the non welded on mounts but that's another story! Lol
Kink on the rear because the tip of the arms don't stick out like the Shadow SANO V2 does. To my Kink gyro cables, gyro, and levers equals dialed.👍
I have a whole box of gyros from over the yrs of me riding, my favourite will always have to be an odyssey Gtx-r , I still have a black one nos in the tube it came in back in 2002 and I run a polished one on my 2003 pro team condor , also the gtx-s are nice as well but no build in Krarps so , gtx- r all the way , furthermore I don’t care much for the nylon bushing ones they don’t spin as well as even gen 2-3 odyssey
Hi , I would love it if you did a video comparing top gyro cable brands, and compare the housing to cable ratios on them. I have an Odyssey top cable and all my top barrel adjusters are maxed out, I'm hoping the kink brand cables or another might fix this issue. Thanks.
Oh and I’m back watching this vid as I’m thinking 🤔 of a dual cable set up on my dirt bros patriot , kink is on top of with there 2022 breaks line 😳, I’m going to probs use a dragonfly upper cable , polished upper gyro plate , gtx-r , and odyssey lower tabs , odyssey London mod , and odyssey slic cables , patriot has odyssey evo gen 1 breaks , and that’s just because it’s all parts I have in my smalls boxes , and will cost me next to notta
looking for front brakes...but I live in germany and there's not really a local bike shop I can get to without driving an hour...any recommendations? stipulations is they need to be normal brakes(no more side pull right :) ) and the cheaper the better...the desist seems ok, but I don't see a way to throw a barrel connector on the brakes....I know odyssey has brakes for front...but are much more expensive.
The Odyssey seem to be the easiest to set up because they come with everything you need to do it
@@Brant_Moore That's my main concern. I could fiddle around and probably get something to work...but this info is exactly what I was looking for...thanks.
Yo brant how you liking the kink brakes. Still waiting on parts for my silly builds. But gonna put together my temp one fully while I wait need brakes but gotta go straight cable for now most likely.
As for upper cables and levers. I still think the odyssey m2 set up gets as close to perfect as anything available.
I like the kink brakes so far. I wish I could keep the smoothness of a fresh brake setup more long term but I think dirt and dust just make the friction add up and I don't feel like maintaining them multiple times a month. haha
@@Brant_Moore see that's what I was worried about. And why I designed my bearing knarps. Just need to keep saving for tooling and cnc machine.
@@Brant_Moore btw did you get a custom ti axle made for your freenight coaster?
At some point think I could maybe get that contact lol. Finally decided on my wheelsets. Vandals to profiles and a freenight coaster. And exlat carbonics for the stupid light wheel set. Tree rear hub freenight coaster and a far east cycles flatland front hub but it has full ti internals and I'm gonna run chromo bolts for pegs. Ti center axle is just a good middle ground. I think I ended up at like 6.5 for the uber light wheel set with tires tubes pegs spokes rims and hubs plus air and before any titanium bits. And I can drop weight in tires still. Really hoping when that build is done I'll be able to muscle it around enough to get tailwhips back.
Yes I did. I just bought material and gave it to a family friend who’s a machinist. You could do the same locally to you. With the time it took, he’s not really interested in doing more of them. Go with the alienation Venus. It has a stronger axle
@@Brant_Moore I was considering rhe Venus. But part of the reason for ti was weight reduction. Rear axles I don't have a problem with as much. I've murdered some front axles though xD
True yeah I know a few local machinists but they all hate titanium I understand why though. But gonna drop a custom ti axle and driver in one of the freenight style hubs and make the thing dirty light.
Can i have your extra dx linear cable 😊
Wooow nice... pls.... help my bmx no brake kit
