After watching your video I ordered this. It came yesterday and I'm very impressed with it, worked first time unlike the cheap purple one I bought a few weeks ago that I still can't get to work. Thanks so much for the video.
I have arthritis in my hands and had some trouble getting the weight off. I ended up using a grip tool i got for removing lids from jars in my kitchen. That enabled me removing the weight. 🎉
Thank you so much for posting up your review- disasters and all! I too put it in the naughty corner- but with a different dk - have it working brilliantly! Thanks again x
I love my Prym i=cord maker. When I first bought it I tried some cheap DK but what a mess!! Since then I have made lots of i-cords with better quality DK and finer yarns. I don't use DK much except in the Addi machines and certainly nothing thicker, preferring 3ply and 4ply yarn so this little machine is brilliant for me. I looked at the Addi Egg but was put off by the plastic needles, preferring the latch hooks. I do have an Addi circular machine, both 22 and 46 but wish they used latch hooks, much easier to manipulate with increasing and decreasing. Sadly I haven't the room for flat bed machines now in my tiny home
They are fabulous little machines. I like the latch hooks too. I tried the Addi egg sadly I had to return it as the gears stripped within a few uses. DK is my go to yarn for i-cord.
Hi Caz! Thanks for this video. I really like how much tighter the i-cord is using this machine so I will be getting one at some point. The only thing is, what the blooming hell do you do with the cords when they're done? :') I've only seen people threading wire through them to create ''3D' lettering that is mounted on a board or something. I suppose they could be used as handles for things as well. Cheers.
Hi sorry for late reply for some reason I didn't see it. It's great for accessorising, you can do names with wire with it too. I'll be using it in an upcoming video very soon.
I bought one of these a month ago! I've had some good success with (cheap) embroidery threads. And yep, I resorted to holding the yarn instead of the tensioner & using a needle to thread mine as well, no way it's going through otherwise. That weight can be a pain in the bum when you're starting it off too, I tied a pair of scissors on mine instead as the proper weight kept pulling one of my yarns apart & just made sure it kept the tension up enough to pull it through as intended!
I'm glad I'm not the only one adding some tension and finding the weight a bit of a pain. Although I do like the fact the i-cord thread through the centre of it. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with me. All the best Caz
Thanks Jeanne glad you enjoyed it. I thought it'd be a quick demo lol until I completely messed it up haha. All good now thoughit's a nice machine and works fine for me now I know what I'm doing. All the best Caz
I had looked at both the Addi egg and the Prym icord maker but couldn't decide which one I wanted. Anyway, I'm now getting the Addi egg for a gift for Mothers Day, but, I could be getting the Prym as well now after seeing your video. :) x
If you want thicker i-cord Addi egg it's very floppy i-cord. This one produces a narrower tighter i-cord which I prefer myself, but it depends what you want to use it for I guess. I loved the egg until it stopped cranking and the handle just went around and around not connecting to the cog inside. Maybe I had a bad one. Hope you get better luck
Got to be honest I really think it's a lovely little machine. It's quite robust imo compared with the Addi egg. I've used it quite a bit now and it's holding its own great. Nice to hear from you
@@amandamodin4912 Well I'd recommend most definitely. I'm still getting the hang of them to be honest, lots to learn but the possibilites are awesome. Fairisle is easier flat panels are easier too. I've got a few now as I've picked them up locally for free or very cheap. Most will need cleaning and a new sponge bar but thats quite easy and kits are mostly available. I have a few different brands but have to say the Brother ones work more to my style plus parts are a little easier to come by. Have a look on FB marketplace or local ads for one. Some should have dedicated tables or cabinets as they are quite long. Let me know if you get one. Hope this helps a little. Lots of FB groups for them too.
I stuck to DK when I used it, but it has the same pins as the larger machines so it couldvery well take aran weight. Mine had gear issues using the DK so I'm not sure the gears could cope long term. Maybe someone has tried it and can let us know? All the best Caz
Nice job. It’s kind of mesmerising to watch. I returned mine as I couldn’t get it to work with Aran yarn and I didn’t want to have to buy specific yarns just to make icord and I’d want the icord I did make to match any projects I made on my sentro 48. I figured out a way to make icord with my sentro if you wanted to check that out ruclips.net/video/VnuYa59zIfQ/видео.html
I really love the start of this one - "When all else fails, read the instructions." 😂😂😂

I have both the tulip and that one too😊
Excellent, do they both operate well for you? Do you have a favourite?
Did you try to tread the yarn in both yarn tension, maybe you don’t need to hold the yarn. Just one idea. Thank you for the video
Good thought Marcia, but it was thorugh both the little hook things on the side. Thank you for taking the time to comment
Interesting I’ve been considering an icord machine this will help make that decision.

@@craftycaz I’d be interested to hear how you like your flat bed machine it be something I’m considering.

@@craftycaz I’ve been watching locally for a machine but so far I haven’t been lucky enough to find one. I’ll let you know when I find one.
What is the latch needle number?(kh?)
I'm not sure I couldn't see a number when I unpacked it but I'll take a closer look and let you know if I find anything. Thanks
@@craftycaz what happened?
@@alishams1841 I couldn't see anything onthe needles at all sorry. Maybe contact Prym direct and see if they can help?
Does the addi egg allow for thicker yarn?

Even though you have a weight on you still need to tug down gently every turn or so or it will bunch up.
Thanks for the tip I'll try that
