Now while in Doom 2 the Icon of Sin was just a wall texture, sometime in 2013 (before both of the Doom reboots were released) however, a famous Doomer who goes by the name, SgtMarkIV did created a mod for Doom 2 that replaces the original Icon of Sin with the giant monster version of it, similar to what we see here. This Doom 2 mod is called “Real Icon of Sin” and SgtMarkIV made this mod the same reason why ID Software had the Icon of Sin here be a giant monster which is that the Icon of Sin in Doom 2 wasn’t originally going to be a wall texture but had to use the wall texture instead because of limitations at the time of the creation of Doom 2. The real Icon of Sin mod is playable on modern source ports of the classic Doom such as ZDoom-type source ports as these source ports have a lot less limitations than DOS.
unsettling fact: the icon of sin cannot actually die, the only option to 'kill' it is by using the crucible which is a sleeping pill for a titan that will go in slumber. if the crucible blade is removed, they will reawaken once more. just proves that the titans in doom are immortal.
Ngl even though this is a doom game I kinda wished the final boss was more cinematic than this. Imagine just chasing the Icon of Sin as you swing across crumbling buildings while swarms of demons spawn in. You have phases but all the while before you can kill the icon you must kill all the demons before you get to the damage phase. And imagine taking on the Icon from feet to head
Yess. I wish this was like fighting those titans In the GoW series. You keep climbing up the monster to land the killing blow. This fight was basically Doom 2 boss fight remastered, but the Icon is out of his wall but still there in front of you like a wall to be hit. Still a fun fight though.
This was honestly my favorite boss fight in doom eternal. I think this was more epic than the doom ii icon of sin boss fight. The campaign was very challenging but yet I was satisfied with everything. I think Id software really outdid themselves here.
@Nick Gurr I know fighting a huge demon head on the wall isn't much of a boss fight but I was glad they brought back icon of sin here in doom eternal as an actual demon to defeat.
Too bad that Betrayer's son was tortured until he was revived and transmogrified into cruelty-driven tragic monster, one of the Titans, known as Icon of Sin.

This is exactly how The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild goes too
Just best this on nightmare, biggest pain in the ass but feels so good to beat! 10/10 game
Give it a 12
easiest difficulty so far
Hands down my all time favorite boss fight. Nothing beats this
I remember back when all you had to do was shoot a wall using rockets
*"To win the game, you must kill me! John Romero!"*
I didn't expect you comment that fast.
Its hard to see since the camera, but I'm pretty sure he's walking in place at 14:05 lol
noooooo you ruined that scene for me now gdi
Love how doom slayer treats killing the lord of hell as an average day on the job
*thats because it is a average day*
It’s hilarious when the icon of sin just walks away as soon as his armor is destroyed. He was like nah fuck this I’m out
I was hoping for a big finisher kill like the spider mastermind. I wanted blood to drench the arena but ok.
same I wanted the Slayer to somehow use the Bfg 10000 to blow up the Icon
I'd figured rocket launcher would have a special place in this fight or at least the finisher, but the sword one was good. In the brain!
Saitama ? Only a crucible can kill it. That’s why he has it.
@@godzillakaijuboy ok, then in that case I would have wanted the Slayer to put the crucible into the bfg 10000 and shoot it like an arrow straight to the Icon's head
I expected something a little more climactic, in fact the icon's design was just plain meh and having it just get electrocuted (or whatever) and falling down, well, that was just crap. Oh well.
I felt bad for the zombie at the end :(
Why
@@doralinz1 because he was just vibing
@@thebakawaffle5013 oh yes
e1m1 with a heaviest metal cover on this battle would make you feel unlimited power and anger
Skyclad Nah, E1M1 would be better.
Skyclad Yeah, But it’s a classic.
Just wanna point out this guy wasted two perfect good BFG shots
Not to mention the hesitance to use Ballista over Plasma Rifle or Super Shotgun over Combat Shotgun, and basically no use of the micro-missiles which absolutely *melt* the Icon.
That moment when you, a fully armored Godzilla monster, get taken out by an ant with an ant-sized rocket launcher
I imagined doomguy using those jaegers from earlier levels.
ian gutchii I honestly thought that those were gonna be used against the titans
I just finished this game 10 minutes ago. There is an argument to be had about the best FPS campaign ever.... this is right up there. What an adventure
2:44 "that moment when you start freaking out, looking for a Zombieman!"
Khan maykr:alergic to rockets, has some basic argent based attacks and a giant beam
Icon of sin:has lasers, flames from hands, flames from forehead, giant forehead beam, summon monsters, insta kill monsters and can summon the heavens to come and shit on your door
These two should be reversed WHO DESIGNED THIS?
Are you confused? Why wouldn't the ICON OF FUCKING SIN have all those powers?
@@11e1cess3 im not complaining but for how powerful the khan marketed herself to be you'd expect a lot more than 7 lock on bursts and 4 blood punches to take her down we didn't even get a decent glory kill she just died right there on the floor
9:52
The sound effects for that beam are simply awe-inspiring.
It's kinda reminiscent of the final boss fight from Mass Effect 2 but better since you actually have to fight the thing instead of just shooting a couple of portable nukes.
Damn, just dished out those chainsaw kills like they were regular melee attacks
I like how his fist is so strong it made me glitch out of the game.
Combined with landing on the jump pads. That explains why I felt like a pinball around the arena
When you bite into ice cream: 13:28
yös.
unsettling fact: the icon of sin cannot actually die, the only option to 'kill' it is by using the crucible which is a sleeping pill for a titan that will go in slumber. if the crucible blade is removed, they will reawaken once more. just proves that the titans in doom are immortal.
Eugene Monotilla That’s what I thought was gonna happen so I was a little disappointed
@@jacobjenkins805 yeah me too but then I suppose Id already went further and beyond on the core gameplay
Yess. I wish this was like fighting those titans In the GoW series. You keep climbing up the monster to land the killing blow. This fight was basically Doom 2 boss fight remastered, but the Icon is out of his wall but still there in front of you like a wall to be hit. Still a fun fight though.
but like isn't final sin (the level you foght theocon of sin) about chasing the icon and fighting demons along the way?
Probably the largest boss I have ever killed in a first-person shooter. The fucker is enormous.
Lets admit it...this a way better final boss than the „Spider mastermind“.
The longer the Icon of Sin is on Earth, the stronger it will become.
Imagine fighting the icon of sin on ULTRA NIGHTMARE difficulty
Ill have fun sleeping tonight dreaming about a huge ass demon. Killing it yeh
That is the fucking huge ass moving Icon of Sin that I ever seen in my goddamn life
This game is amazing, if you play this during the night it feels almost as if you were actually there
For anyone else this would have been the most important boss fight in their lives...
for the doom slayer, it was Tuesday...
Lmao
I love how he moves his hands and how he explodes. It's so reminiscent of the old Doom.
icon of sin: *finally has a body*
Doomslayer:" oh yeah gonna rip and tear that one😏"
Too bad that Betrayer's son was tortured until he was revived and transmogrified into cruelty-driven tragic monster, one of the Titans, known as Icon of Sin.
Ever since 1994, THIS was the final boss we were all waiting for.
Im trying to beat this on nightmare without sentinel armor, and I have to say this boss fight is so frustrating and just so much bs. It feels more like luck than actual skill when you actually manage to make any progress against the boss. This is just my opinion tho
Make sure you manage your ammo and health with chainsaw + crucible.
You get glory-kill levels of health from crucible kills!
@@hanks_2210 Thanks! Already managed to beat it anyways, lol. Tho i have to say, the 2nd stage of the battle is not so bad.
... And you will be their savior, your strength will be their shield, and your will... their sword, for your fight... is eternal.
