  • I made a vase from padouk and blue epoxy resin, but it actually did not become a real vase because I hollowed it out shallowly.
This is a project I started three years ago and only recently completed.
After I had poured the epoxy resin between the wood and allowed it to harden, I sawed off the excess material and started turning it.
At first everything went well, turning the outside and finishing was no problem, but during the hollowing process something went wrong, the tenon broke off even though I had used a steadyrest.
I recently decided to give it another try and managed to complete the vase.
Because the epoxy has become rock hard after three years of hardening, I hollowed out the vase shallowly, so it is really nothing more than a turned object
The vase has a turned diameter of 13 centimeters and is 38 centimeters long, but when the vase is standing it is 30 centimeters high, 25 centimeters wide and 13 centimeters deep.

This is a long time in the making Hans and it's something I have not seen before. A leaning vase, very unique and a beautiful piece 👌

Hello Jojo, it took a long time, and I was tempted to throw it away several times, but I finally managed to finish it.
It turned out to be a fun project after all.

Hello Huw, it was certainly a special project to make, but there were several times when I was ready to stop doing it.
But now that I see the end result, I'm glad I persevered.

Are you glad you gave it a second try Hans ? I am ! Love the colors and the tilt. The fiddly layup of all the blank sure paid off too ! Take care. -Mike
