Thank you. Usually my dad does this for me, but he is getting older and has had some health issues recently. I don’t want him to have to worry about my car on top of everything else. This video made it possible for me to confidently approach my ‘05 Civic and refill my washer fluid. That may sound silly and basic to some, but I’m proud of myself! Thank you for your help!
This video just saved me so much money and so much time. This is the exact car that I have a 2010 year to be exact and this helped me so much with my coolant resivor check.
Thank you fir this great video how to! Very simple and shows that anyone can do it and save a bunch of money!
So glad I came across this video . I try to keep up with all the maintenance on my car by myself because I hate asking for help or people trying to get over on me or mess my car up soooo I’d rather do it myself lol . Thank you so much for the instructional & detailed video !!! All my fluids are topped off 🥰🤗
Many thanks for this video. Really found it helpful.
Thank you very helpful. Used to working on motorbikes where our engine oil and gearbox oil is all one.

please make a video on replacing the hose, power steering pump, o-rings for honda 2006 and newer. love the videos!
+Douglas Smith We're always cycling through common cars. We'll add this repair to our list! 1AAuto.com
Changing the hose is easy there are two clamps one on each end, use some pliers to gwt them off, what part of that is confusing? Also make sure car has cooled down first.
is it just me? Or did that engine oil level look full? I think he overfilled it by adding Qt. that it did not need.
Great video
Just bought this car no a lot of Real estate under the hood confusing so tight glad I know everything now
the transmission stick handle is really high-tech :D
Very informative 🤗

Hi, I put 10,000 miles on my 08 honda civic so quick question, when you say if one of the oils are low and need to top it off, I dont need to get rid of the old one? Just top them off to the appropriate level you see
Sir I really need to know how quarts this car needs for the engine oil and the transmission fluid my car is Honda Civic 2008 1,8 automatic
3.9 quarts
I have a 2010 and it doesn't have a dip stick 4 transmission fluid. The mechanic at the Valvoline Quick Lube said that it is sealed and he couldn't check the transmission fluid? This car is new to me and I have 136,000 miles. So I take it to a Honda dealer or do most mechanics know how to change the transmission fluid on this car? Please help.
Cold and hot transmission lines, which one do I measure? I have the plastic dipstick.
My owners manual states three times to use only ATF Z1 fluid for my 08 Civic EX.
What's your opinion on using ATF DW-1 instead?
Dw1 is the replacement for z1 its an updated version so if it ask for z1 you need to get dw1
When filling power steering, should I fill it to the “high” line, or to the top?
high line... it expands when warm... need the extra space for expansion.
I was taught in hondas you leave the engine off when checking trans fluid
Hi I have the same car and in my transmission fluide I see bubbles does it mean that I have problems or what?
+Mirik Man That could mean the transmission is overfilled, which you want to fix right away. As always we recommend you have a trusted mechanic to look at the vehicle to get a proper diagnosis if you are unable to do so! 1aauto.com
1A Auto Parts ok thank you
The engine oil should be in the upper mark? Or between upper and lower?
idealy between the 80% to 100% mark but never above the max as it can cause pressure
Pls if the gear transmission fluid is low, what will happen?
Thanks for your video. I just bought a 2007 Honda Civic, with a 139k miles. the owner bought it with 25kmiles, and she own it for 9 years. I do not know when she changes the transmission fluid or maybe she never did. I cannot get in contact with her. When I check the transmission level, it looks good and drive fine. My question is, do you think I should change the transmission fluid or when should I change it?
+adeniyi adeola Thanks for checking us out! Usually the manufacturer recommends a fluid change about 50-60k miles. If the fluid looks good this may have been changed at 100k/120k before purchased. If you prefer to reset the mile count you definitely can change it just to be sure and keep up on it from there.
@@1AAuto Thanks for your reply. The fluid looks little brownish color and It's drive fine. I took it to the a mechanic shop and the guy at the shop told me It looks good but I should not change it because I don't know the history of the transmission fluid change. I am just worried, don't know what to do. I might just go with your comment and change it.
@@adeniyiadeola1416 It will be red if it’s new and brown if it’s old. Might not want to change it!
what fluid do I use for a manual SI
How could you tell the engine oil level from that cross-hatched dipstick?
Bottom of the pattern is low top of the pattern is full
what is gear position before checking the ATF level?
+Huzaimie Najeeb This may be in your owner's manual,or it may also be on the dipstick. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
Huzaimie Najeeb If it's a Honda, run it until it is at operating temp, shut it off, wait one minute, then with the transmission in park for A/T or Neutral for M/T you will get the proper reading. Just remember, if it's a Honda do not check it while it's running. Hope this helps.
I have this big blue jug of fluid with the wording faded away. I know it is not wiper fluid. Is it coolant? I am trying to figure out what it is (I bought it years ago and forgot what it is).
T T it’s coolant, oem Honda coolant is blue. Smell it and it should smell sweet as coolant does.
Taste it
Does the car have to be on whiles adding fluids in the car?
Nope
I have a stock civic could I install the si engine ? It’s an 8th gen civic 2009
Billy Mendez Probably be better off if you bought a SI. With the computer side of it not sure.
To swap an Si engine in, you'll also have to swap the transmission, the intake set up, the ecu, several wiring harnesses, the exhaust, etc which all costs 3-7k to get it done right. Go out and buy a Civic Si. You'll save yourself about 3k and not have to deal with any headaches.
I want to buy a 2010 Honda Civic with an automatic transmission that has 119,000 miles from a lady on Facebook. The vehicle is in mint condition and she services the car a lot. Only thing that caught my attention is that the transmission fluid was a darker brownish color but it drives beautiful. Is there a possibility that since it drives normal and it’s that color that it could be a underlying problem? She’s the only owner to the car and she never changed the fluid at all since day 1.
Its definitely normal needs to be changes like 20k -40k ago but could be fine if you change the fluid and filter asap
Any updates, did you change it? How has it been?
I just bought a 2009 Honda civic EX coupe with 116k miles from a private seller. We both don't know when the transmission fluid was changed or ever changed. Took it to a mechanic and they said my transmission fluid smells a little burnt. Then said not to change it because it will fail. What should I do???
If you flush the system and add new fluid your transmission may start slipping.
Instead of doing a full flush you can take out about 2 quarts and fill it with 2 new quarts.
+Ro C We agree with +Dave G. you should try to avoid the full flush and do a couple quarts at a time
Do a full flush that's still on the low side for mileage. Unless the previous owner lives in the mountains.
I don’t have the dip stick for the trans fuild check
question, you checked the ATF. The level if ok? or it should be middle of the "HOT"?
I accidentally over filled the coolant. Do I need to take it to my mechanic to drain?
When checking for the engine oil, do I need to get the car running at optimal temperature before checking it, similar to what you did when checking for the ATF levels?
+koiminx You can check it with the vehicle cold. You will get the same reading regardless.
1A Auto Parts I see, thanks again and great video!
@@1AAuto not necessarily. If the engine is hot not all the oil has dripped down yet. Did this noob mistake a while ago and filled it up to full when it was hot. Checked oil in the morning and it was above full... had to take some out
Wow there’s soo much rust on that car, in CA my 2007 Civic has zero rust.
My transmission dip stick doesn't say hot on it.
Good video. That is one rusty engine!
The oil looked full to me. What gives?
Why don't you mention the exact type all fluids?
The R18 has the worst oil dipstick of all time lol
Thanks for the comment and for watching! +Viraj Patel
Why is it the worst?
Unfortunately that's the engine I have.
How often does each have to be changed?
+T G Please refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for this information. 1aauto.com
hey guys, so i can fill the oil and the transmission oil without draining ?
so i never need to go to pay for oil change ?lol
im just gonna keep filling, thats it ?
thats what i do ! lmao
No ! Soon your car starts to slipping! Because you over fill.
Terrible😂
Thank you!
