Today we are talking about what the process was like for us to transfer our slightly used Tesla Model 3 Long Range from the previous owner to us via the Mobile App and the Tesla Website on Desktop. Simple process that should only take a few days!

Does anyone know how to transfer ownership, not how to add a vehicle? Thanks
I bought a tesla model 3 from the copart auction. I’ve been trying to tranfer ownership to my bussiness and I keep getting an email requesting proof of ownership. I already sent pictures of the title which is under my bussiness name aswell as bill of sale from copart auction, proof of my credit cards with my name and bussiness name on the card. I keep getting an email saying they need proof of ownership. I dont have anything else other than the title under my business name and bill of sale.
I’ve done it diffrent ways like about 7 times and its getting annoying not being able to do anything else. I’ll like know what is the problem?

Wanted to ask a question new to Tesla. Look for a used 2019 model S with super charger. The owner seller saying he can give me his Tesla app account to me for remaining the free super charge after purchase. Please advise me if any glitch from this free supercharge used Tesla purchase
Do i have to do this on app and pc or is it enough if i do it on the app?
Can you say how much to register. For instance, extra fee for being electric?
while waiting for Tesla to approve your documentation where you still able to drive your Tesla Off the lot and take it home? Was your Tesla drive able while you waited for all your documentation to go through? How did it affect your ability to charge while you where in the process of waiting?
You can still supercharge. Just won’t have any app functionality or subscription services

I just purchased a 2021 model 3 from Carmax and I had to do exactly what you did to change ownership and now I am waiting for Tesla to confirm I did everyhting right....These is one thing I could no do is to find the Gateway? What is that and where can I find it? Thank you

Great video, very informative. I do have a question regarding warranties. I'm considering purchasing a 2022 M3P from an independent dealer. Vehicle history shows it to be a former fleet vehicle. Which warranties, if any are transferable?
Thanks Mark! I believe it depends on what type of fleet it was in prior as some fleet instances like rentals and Uber won’t transfer any warranties. I found this example at the bottom of page 7 of the Used Vehicle Limited Warranty: www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/downloads/tesla-used-vehicle-limited-warranty-en-us.pdf. This may help! You can also call the Customer Service line on that page as well and see if they can give you a clearer answer. Hope this helps! - Tyler

I would definitely double check with Tesla! If it was a Tesla Demo it should transfer over. They can always look at the VIN for you so you don’t miss out on a great deal. - Tyler
I don’t know what’s going on I’m doing the add to remove product to my new used Tesla 2020 model 3 standard range but I can’t connect to the Tesla data or wifi it just says “ Tesla need to connect to data or wifi “ something like that so idk what to do kinda lost so help me out guys!

I’m picking up a used Tesla from a dealer ship out of state and wanted to set this up before I got there. Would that be possible?
Hi Matthew, thanks for your comment! You should be able to do most of the work via the mobile app before you pick up the car. However, you’ll have to be in-person to setup phone as a key with the vehicle for example. You can at least get your account and everything setup in the mobile app if the car is ready for you and in your name. Enjoy it and congrats on your purchase! - Tyler

Wi-Fi” and doesn’t let me get past the point after I input the VIN. please help
We ran into this issue with the Model 3 we just picked up in January. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts and it goes through, which happened to us. I highly recommend reaching out to Tesla if it continues - Brandan

You missed an important point. If you private sell a car, and someone shows up to pick it up and sign the title over. How do they drive it home the same day? Do those credit card backup keys work? or are they deactivated when you remove a car from the sellers app?

The key cards do not get deactivated when you remove the car from the sellers app. The key cards will continue to work.

So if I sell by Tesla to another person, I have to remove the car from my app for them to add the car. Can they still drive the car within the 3-5 days it takes for Tesla to authorize the transfer? If not, the car just sits until authorized?
Not sure if anyone answered you but if they have the key fob(s) they can drive the car as “just” a standard EV with of course Tesla Level standard tech.
To unlock updates and the ability to control the car via a smartphone you need access and authentication from the app.
I’m driving without authentication for a week. Getting my first software update because I’ve started the verification process and if you can change the name of the car, the verification assumes you at least have the car in your possession!
What about the hov carpool sticker. There's already one on the cat but it's expired. How do you go on about getting a new one?
You’d need to contact your local DMV in order to get a new one.
I bought my used tesla 2022 from a dealer, and the first owners information is still in the car.
Same here we are driving up to Tesla tomorrow to see if we can push it through faster

They may make you deactivate it
If you go to the Tesla dealership

@@g.pearson4726 I didn’t have free. We pulled up and it was immediately asking for payment. And yeah they did it all same day. They removed account and loaded ours in and then fully charged our car.
My car is added to the app but I don’t think everything is available. I cannot purchase any software upgrades? Is something wrong?

Does the license address need to match the registration address?

you guys know if more than one phone device can have ownership? For example, can 2 people have ownership of the vehicle as far as the app is concerned? i’m aware of adding a phone key but there are restrictions if you’re not the owner.
Good question! I’m not honestly sure… we’ve always used the one account. I’d reach out to Tesla and see!

Couple years ago it took me 1.5 months to get it on my app.
How’d yo get it to work? Go to service center?
@@S0ulsinner you just call trsla and they tell you what docs they need from you, send them and it takes like 2 days maybe afterwards.
When I am trying to transfer ownership it is asking me to rename the car, but I can’t rename because rename area is greyed out. What is the solution ?

Can I transfer the leases Tesla to someone else?

Whats a point of turning a 30 seconds video process into 10 minutes?
WE PURCHASED FROM A DEALERSHIP THAT WILL NOT HELP US. WE DO NOT KNOW WHO THE PREVIOUS OWNER IS OR WHO THE APP IS REGISTERED TO. WE HAVE TO APP, ENTERED VIN AND RECEIVE THE ERROR, UNABLE TO CLAIM OWNERSHIP. WE HIT NEXT AND IT DOES NOT GO ANYWHERE BUT STAYS ON THE ERROR SCREEN. THIS IS FRUSTRATING. WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE 6/10/22 AND CANNOT FIND ANYONE WITH TESLA TO ASSIST.
I’m facing the same error once entering the vin and not being able to continue to upload proof sale/ temp registration. Have you been able to solve this?

If you run into any error messages with the app or the VIN is showing it is unable to claim ownership, email the Tesla Customer Support Team CustomerSupport@tesla.com with all of your supporting documents and the issues you are experiencing. They were able to help us with a little issue we had with the mobile app! They’re very quick to respond as well too during the week. I hope this helps! - Tyler

I just fixed this problem when it tells you to rename the care you actually have to rename the car whatever the app tells you after that you won’t get the error notification an you can send your driver license an prof of ownership

This video focuses on claiming a new Tesla from the buyer's perspective. You completely ignore it from the seller's perspective. So your title is very misleading and incorrect. It says "How to Transfer a Used Tesla to New Owner." This is more how to set up a new Tesla. Thumbs down.
I’m gonna have to disagree with you and the condescending way you presented it, that they presented it very articulately. It was very passive as well, very unsettling, but kept it simple and understandable that I could apply it, and use the same principles as a seller buying a Tesla. pure Comedy grow a brain 🎭 …………🎤 💧
