    I love your videos thank you so much for them! My fave part is when you talk about the "common mistakes" because I find myself doing these common mistakes, well, quite commonly lol. I can't wait till I skate next week (first time since March)!!

    One thing I'd mention about the spiral (well, one or two things)--your weight should be on the back of the blade and your skating leg straight. If you put your weight forward, you will catch your pick and eat the ice. Also, at least starting out, keeping the hands to the side to catch you if you fall forward is smart. And even though you're bending forward, keep your face turned up.
    ....I fell a lot on that until I learned to put my weight more on my heel. It's a painful fall. :)

      yes I agree with all of these tips! soo much more I can cover in my videos but I don't want to make them too long/boring!

    I really want to buy new blades, so I can jump singles and axels better than with my beginner blades. What kind of blades do you recommend?

    • @annpendergast987
      @annpendergast987 4 года назад +7

      Coronation ace / MK professionals are common choices for intermediate skaters (working on singles, axel ect)

    • @capraecultus
      @capraecultus 2 года назад

      mk galaxy are a good intermediate blade and they aren't too pricey either

    I'm studying to be a figure skating judge, and in class teachers show us your videos so we can learn how an element should be made. So thank you for explaining yourself so well and being so sweet. ❤

    Just found your channel and so happy I did!! I'm gonna take figure skating lessons this winter (and I'm 18 haha) and I can't wait! I already know how to skate and all, but these types of vids will definitely help!

    I just watched this video to remember what it was like back then
    And I must be weird because the outside three-turns are easier for me and inside brackets are easier 🤣

  • @___i3ambi126
    @___i3ambi126 3 года назад +2

    Originally i thought the inside 3 turn would be easier to learn in theory, but trying both for the first time I actually found outside far easier in practice.
    One of the main differences was fear factor. When doing the 2 foot turns the most common fail was doing accidental hockey stops. When doing outside 3 turns, your other foot happened to be on the right side to catch you if you ever stopped halfway through. I'm sure the inside 3 turns will become easier to attempt once Im comfortable with the motion on one foot.

      I don't think there is a Basic 7. I think it goes to Free Skate or Freestyle after this, which would be waltz jumps, axels, and other skills that aren't so Basic anymore.

      @@tendo2420 Oh, okay. I'm not a serious skater; I took figure skating as a child, got as far as three-turns (poorly), and had to stop skating because my mom had started law school. I bought a pair of ice skates this past winter for something to do during the pandemic, and I've been having fun on them, but nothing serious. So, I'm not too familiar with the skating levels now. They were called something different when I was in it.

    Hey fellow figure skaters! I just started taking lessons 2 months ago- how long did it take you to be able to do basic 1-6? It seems a lot harder than the videos make it look haha

    • @hellstoastt
      @hellstoastt 3 года назад +2

      depends on how often you go and how dedicated you are. assuming you skate for 4 hours a week, it would probably take about 3 months.

      It has been two months and I am slowly past 3 heading to 4. I still have issues with one foot glides and anything backwards

    • @linnria
      @linnria 2 года назад +2

      I took 10-12 months to finish 1-6, doing 30-40mins a week so it all depends on how much ice time u have

    Love your videos! Do you happen to have one on what is appropriate to wear when practicing? I'm relatively new and am always unsure of whether or not I am wearing the correct socks/pants etc.

    • @ErnieVEVO
      @ErnieVEVO 4 года назад

      Hi! I am not Mary ik, but I am also a fairly new skater, I find it best to wear pants that are comfortable and do not limit the movement of your legs/hips at all. I also like to wear thick long socks so I can have my food cushioned when wearing the skate.

    Question about this rink vs the other link in your videos; is this rink colder and how are they different ( if they are)? I noticed you didn’t wear a sweater at the other rink...
