Yeah, I loved Michael's analogy about how Zoro has been the best high school basketball player, beating everyone around him, and then he had to play against Mihawk Jordan 😬
That's why I love when Mihawk asks Luffy his goal. He basically says, "Bro, I just iced your first mate like it was nothing. I can take YOU, like it was nothing. And your goal is even harder than his." And Luffy says, "I don't care. That's what I'm going to do." No doubt. No fear. No hesitation. Just conviction.

Joan is 100% correct about the fact that people in the One Piece world can gain superhuman abilities just from diligent training. Kuro's super-speed, for example, is a martial arts technique that anyone could learn just by putting in the time and the training. Helmeppo's name is only mentioned once in the live action, so it's easy to miss. You guys were great as usual! Really enjoyed the reaction!
In the world One Piece takes place in there are regular human beings who are born 12 feet tall who can be beaten in a fight by a person who is only 6 feet tall. No powers involved. Thats simply because the power structured is based on a persons will and dedication and training and talent. Its also important to remember that they are still only in the East Blue, this isnt even the Grand Line where the powerful people go to search for treasure.
I think this is is the first blind reaction I've seen to correctly guess; yes, Gin, the shipwrecked pirate who washed up, was Don Krieg's 1st mate, and all that devastation he described was entirely Mihawk's doing. More people survived in the manga/anime, but the implication is the same; the strongest in East blue is absolutely nowhere near the strongest on the grand line, or even in the ranking really.
Yes, in the world of one piece everyone can get to super strength with hard enough work And mihawk cutting the ship is just that his technique is so great that he cuts the air in a way that the air becomes razor sharp, and yes, most super strong swordsman can cut the air
I guess it's analogous to when we saw Zoro extinguish those candles with the air displaced from his sword in ep 1; except Mihawk can extinguish a candle from like miles away

I posted this in another video but I’ll repost it here concerning Zoro being first mate. Zoro is first mate based on who Luffy recruited first. Traditionally whoever the captain picks as first recruit is also the defacto vice captain or second in command. Now both he and Nami kept telling Luffy they are not a crew in the first episode, however by the second episode when Zoro was tied up by Buggy’s henchman, Zoro low key started accepting Luffy as his Captain when he told the henchman that he did not need to believe in Luffy because Luffy already believes in himself and that Luffy was starting to rub off on him. Nami heard all that but she was not yet on board as being a crew member and you will just have to keep on watching to find out why. Now the live action actually called out Zoro as first mate and it was Nami who said it. This is kinda important because I don’t think the manga or anime ever officially stated who was the first mate and second leader of the Strawhats. Most people could already figure it out based on watching the episodes of the anime. However, there has been some debate by some fans whether Zoro or Nami is the second leader. Since Oda himself gave the ok for the live action scripts, we can naturally conclude the second leader is really Zoro. Nami is more likely the Quartermaster of the crew and the third in charge of the Strawhats.
Oda in the sbs always said all the strawhats are equals in the crew though, and others took the lead when necessary, over Zoro or Nami. I don't think the first mate thing in the LA is meant to be taken as manga canon, especially when they changed other stuff too and characters traits and attitudes (btw i wouldn't care if Oda officially said Zoro was second in command, i don't really care who's the one, if there is one, just i don't think the LA made that part manga canon).

I think I remember some characters later on point out that zoro is 1st in command, and he certainly acts like it during Water 7, but as with so many dynamics, it's more based on if the need arises than actual hierarchy. just like luffy is usually not acting as captain, that is just not how this crew rolls. Live action goes out of its way to point out things left unsaid in the manga, like usopp and kaya, probably due to limited time. Don't really care about Don Krieg, but a bit sad about the lack of the original Gin in the LA.
The East Blue is the WEAKEST of all 4 Seas, the starving pirate Sanji feed - was part of Don Krieg's crew, that's what he was talking about how his fleet was destroyed by 1 dude (Mihawk).
Too bad Mihawks ship the Hitsugibune is not shown. It has the size of a small coffin-shaped rowboat with a large cross as a sail mast. With this boat he chased Don Krieg's fleet of 50 ships out of the Grandline and sank them.
I agree with you there - it definitely would have added a nice comedic impact as well as show the grand scheme of how truly powerful the grand line is. You do get a glimpse of Mihawks ship in the first episode though, but that’s more of an Easter egg.
Regarding crew dynamics I think a common idea in the fandom is that Usopp is the normal one. So plays off the casual craziness of his crew and the Grand Line, which Mihawk is a taste of the craziness of that place.
The bounties work almost like what you said about your power determining your bounty. But bounty isn’t *just* determined by power. It’s about your achievements. There are characters with high bounties but are weak, and characters with low bounties, despite being strong. So bounties are a good way to know if a character is strong, but don’t rely entirely on them.
Great reactions loved this video and great observations too. You guys are of many different reactors. I watched that actually realized gene. The hungry pirate was a sole survivor from Don Creek's Fleet. I hope my voice to text got all those names, or at least it's readable. Also, yes, there are people that have just trained so much that they have superhuman superhuman strength.❤
What differentiates Bounty in One Piece to other power level indicator in other series is that it's something viewers will have to decern themselves on how fair it is. Because Bounty indicate threat the pirates posses, yes stronger a pirate more threatening they are but it's not always 1 to 1.
Just allow yourselves to overlook the absurdity of holding a sword in your mouth. Just give in to the "rule of cool", where if you go from using two swords to three... you're just increasing your "badass" potential by at least 50% or more. 😂
The "mode" gives Zoro power in a strange way, but it makes total sense. Mihawk also mentions something along the lines of it to him, it's not about strength but technique. You can have the heaviest man in the world throw a punch but it wouldn't be as devestating as the punch from a world champion boxer; because skill unleashes the potential for power. Zoro's skills upgrade when using the three sword style, because that's the style he is best in. It's about skill, not raw power.

One Piece came after Dragonball. When I read the last DB-Manga (Vol. 42), on the last page they promised One Piece was THE new manga to read after DB. 😊 Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Kuririn the strongest human? His training did pay off. (Saiyajin power levels are just insane, btw - they don't count 😋) I love your reactions to One Piece. I also couldn't settle on a favourite for a very long time - now I have my top 5 but they're constantly shifting. 😅 And the snails finally get some well deserved love!
Yeah, I've never seen dbz but it's the goat and a lot of manga artists are inspired by it. Oda was also inspired by DBZ to make One Piece, it's why Luffy is called Monkey. It's a homage to the protagonist of dbz, which is inspired by the Monkey King.
If u liked Live action, u must watch the anime by urself. If u felt any emotion in this, u will just be lost in the depth and emotion of the actual story. It is a promise, u have never read a story as detailed, emotionally rich and epic as this. Anyone who loves a great story can't miss this. Just give it a try. U all can thank me later Just a short trivia: The mangaka/writer of OP who is Eiichiro Oda works 21 hours per day and sleeps only 3. He has been doing this for past 30 years. This alone should be enough to give u the passion and dedication behind this masterpiece. It is still one of the best literature ever existed, with the mixture of childish banters/fun. It handled many dark and problematic themes with much care and devotion. It is a must watch for anyone. U won't know what u are missing until u watch it 🙏
Kinda late but yes most of one piece takes place in the grand line, and there's only 40+ actual episodes in the anime that we take place in the east blue before going to the grand line and not gonna spoil the rest on why the grand line is long but I'll just say that there's more stuff to see there
Garp knew that one day Luffy would become the target of the world government because of his strength, therefore Garp taught his grandson strictly from childhood.
Funny you mention 100 episodes to get to the grandline, yes, sorta, the first part of One Piece the Prologue called the east blue saga which the live action covers 90% ends at chapter 100 in the manga then they enter the grandline.
This world definitely operates on One Punch Man rules - sufficient training makes up for a lack of superpowers. Though it is true that at higher levels _a lot_ of people have Devil Fruits, there's definitely enough people there that are just seriously good at what they do.
Zoro specifically states in one of his first fights in the manga that there is a difference between wielding 3 swords and practicing 3 sword style. He does get stronger when he puts the third sword in his mouth, but it's just because it allows him to use his most powerful techniques in the sword style he's trained with, not because of any sort of magical effect or superpower. Keep in mind that MOST of what people do with their powers is just raw strength. Luffy's only ability is that he's made of rubber: he doesn't get super strength from it, so the only reason he can stretch his arm several meters out is because he's swinging his arm hard enough that the force can stretch a rubber band the thickness of his arm that far, and his body just happens to be able accommodate that. There are other things that are just pure cartoon logic: Luffy blowing himself up like a balloon sometimes makes him soft and bouncy so he can reflect cannonballs, and sometimes he blows himself up big and hits harder because bigger fist = stronger punch. One Piece isn't a cartoon because of the medium it was originally created in, it's a cartoon because it runs on Looney Toons logic, just with serious worldbuilding and fantasy lore.
Its both mihawk is the greatest swordsman and Yoru is the strongest sword. But later on you learn that this is pretty much a given people are just naturally strong in this world if they train hard enough Dragon ball came first, One piece and pretty much every modern shonen was influenced by Akira Toriayama's work
Wow fellows! I really enjoyed your reaction. I do hope you watch the anime too to compare the differences (I would love to hear your opinion about it).
Yeah they did say Helmeppo's name in episode 1 but forgetting it is very fair. It's a really weird name and they said it once. And the character is not that important either.

@@studiobeaming Yes, the anime goes into more background than the live action was able to do. HOWEVER, unless you want to watch NUMEROUS 20-minute episodes just to get through ONE plot line, I'd take it with a grain of salt. OR, you could do what I did and use the fast-forward button.
Question: "Is he the greatest swordsman or does he have the best sword?" Answer: "Yes." No powers either. This is based off a battle manga and that ship splitting strength is all Mihawk. It's up there with Garp throwing cannonballs with his bare hands.
So as far as bounties. They aren't exactly based on someone's power, but of how dangerous someone is to the world government. Strong people for sure, but also for instance, if someone knows, or has the ability to find out information that the world government wants to keep secret.
Bounties don't correlate to power but how problematic they are to the government, not only regarding to power but knowing stuff people shouldn't or being more agreesive in raiding.
i don't want to spoil the anime for you but I giggled when you thought his bounty could be 600 million because Mihawk's bounty is above 3 billion lmfao
i really love how the live action just ABSOLUTELY NAILED the Mihawk encounter. it really drives home that luffy and zoro are just big fish in small, tiny, miniscule pond. there are so many people just as strong as Mihawk in the Grand Line, and plenty that are stronger.
That's a different bounty to the one they're asking for. Let's just say they put in "bounty cancelled" for a reason, I don't think the Warlords' former bounties age well.

The East Blue is the WEAKEST of all 4 Seas, the starving pirate Sanji feed - was part of Don Krieg's crew, that's what he was talking about how his fleet was destroyed by 1 dude (Mihawk).
Ship's doctor and/or "bandager" makes perfect sense.
I will never lose again!
Is that ok with you, King of the Pirates!?
Too bad Mihawks ship the Hitsugibune is not shown. It has the size of a small coffin-shaped rowboat with a large cross as a sail mast. With this boat he chased Don Krieg's fleet of 50 ships out of the Grandline and sank them.
Mihawk is so Extra, I love him.
You can see it in the prologue of the first episode, as the camera zooms over all the ships outside Logue Town or whatever
I agree with you there - it definitely would have added a nice comedic impact as well as show the grand scheme of how truly powerful the grand line is. You do get a glimpse of Mihawks ship in the first episode though, but that’s more of an Easter egg.
@@Fleity1410 Yes, I recognized his ship right away in the first episode.
LMAO love it!!
So bounties are a good way to know if a character is strong, but don’t rely entirely on them.
and just like that... they left one piece... and left us in pieces. COME BAAAACKKK
"What was his bounty, 600 million?"
Thats a cute number lol. (No spoilers).
Just allow yourselves to overlook the absurdity of holding a sword in your mouth. Just give in to the "rule of cool", where if you go from using two swords to three... you're just increasing your "badass" potential by at least 50% or more. 😂
50% for each sword
12:45 Mihawk doesn’t have powers either. He just has a supernatural level of skill that goes beyond real life physics.
In the anime Luffy is literally holding two guys back this entire fight so they couldnt help Zoro. Just so they couldnt mess up his chance
Some people in One Piece are just powerful. Through years of training and determination. Also bounties are not exactly an indication of power level.
😀 like always. great reaction guys!!! 😀 the world is getting bigger now. yeah. the power level thing is the typical anime style (lots of training) and they are very strong. Buuuut but,, mrmfaafmmapmm (i'm biting my lip) 😋 i really dont want to say too much. hehe
can't wait for the next one!!!👍
One Piece came after Dragonball. When I read the last DB-Manga (Vol. 42), on the last page they promised One Piece was THE new manga to read after DB. 😊
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Kuririn the strongest human? His training did pay off. (Saiyajin power levels are just insane, btw - they don't count 😋)
I love your reactions to One Piece.
It's a homage to the protagonist of dbz, which is inspired by the Monkey King.
right. i remember it was Yamucha who said it to kuririn's daughter, that her dad is the "strongest in the world... amongst all other humans, that is"
If u liked Live action, u must watch the anime by urself. If u felt any emotion in this, u will just be lost in the depth and emotion of the actual story. It is a promise, u have never read a story as detailed, emotionally rich and epic as this. Anyone who loves a great story can't miss this. Just give it a try. U all can thank me later
Just a short trivia: The mangaka/writer of OP who is Eiichiro Oda works 21 hours per day and sleeps only 3.

13:30 Mihawk Vs Zoro
Zoro is Luffy’s First Mate because in the anime, he was the first person Luffy recruited. He didn’t recruit Nami until shortly after.
You’ll meet all the other Warlords in time. They’re a very eclectic group. Personality-wise Mihawk is amongst the most normal of the bunch.
Kinda late but yes most of one piece takes place in the grand line, and there's only 40+ actual episodes in the anime that we take place in the east blue before going to the grand line and not gonna spoil the rest on why the grand line is long but I'll just say that there's more stuff to see there
Don't Worry about the power levels it will be explained maybe in season 2. or season 3.
24:07 Pretty much. It was a bit before 100, but you’re right that a vast majority of the story is on the Grand Line.
16:37 It would be the only way to be 100% sure you keep your promise though 🤣
Mihawk is a very small introduction to the higher power levels in OP
Zoro is the best swordsman in the east blue, but, unfortunately, the east blue is the weakest of the four blues.
But later on you learn that this is pretty much a given
people are just naturally strong in this world if they train hard enough
Dragon ball came first, One piece and pretty much every modern shonen was influenced by Akira Toriayama's work
Wow fellows! I really enjoyed your reaction. I do hope you watch the anime too to compare the differences (I would love to hear your opinion about it).
Mihawk's bounty is 3,950,000,000
Yeah they did say Helmeppo's name in episode 1 but forgetting it is very fair. It's a really weird name and they said it once. And the character is not that important either.
Fun reaction!
This beta can't wrap his head around actual men and their conflict.
Great reaction guys! You ever consider reacting to the anime?
Hello, thank you so much! We're definitely interested, but we've got jobs, we just don't have the time to film and edit so many videos 😭😭 if the channel somehow becomes our job then yes!!
@@studiobeaming makes sense I can see it working out for you guys so best of luck!
Question: "Is he the greatest swordsman or does he have the best sword?"
Answer: "Yes."
No powers either. This is based off a battle manga and that ship splitting strength is all Mihawk. It's up there with Garp throwing cannonballs with his bare hands.
I wonder, after their done watching the live action, they'll watch the anime next ❤
700m?
Mihawk bounty more than that. 🙏
No spoilers pleaseeee. Let them know at their own pace.
And by the way, Mihawk's sword's name is Yoru, greatest blade in the world.
One of the greatest blades*
"no one says I'll never lose again and then dies"
Well to be fair, if he did, them he'd be telling the truth! 😂
So as far as bounties. They aren't exactly based on someone's power, but of how dangerous someone is to the world government. Strong people for sure, but also for instance, if someone knows, or has the ability to find out information that the world government wants to keep secret.
16:21 Did you already forget his backstory? He’s lost *plenty* of times. He said he could never beat Kuina.
he called mihawk "check burns" lmao
The importance of Ambitions and dreams
Mihawk, Garp, Shanks… end game characters displaying 0.05% of their power
You. Are. Not. Ready. For. Usopp's. Final. Form! ...cue theme song. 🎶
2:46 It's the flag of the cook pirates
Bounties don't correlate to power but how problematic they are to the government, not only regarding to power but knowing stuff people shouldn't or being more agreesive in raiding.
Garp is extremely abusive but I'm here for it
I think mihawk bounty is around in the billions
Dragonball is from the 1980s. DBZ is from the very early 1990s. One Piece came out in 1997.
Just for perspective: In the time you need to watch one(1) One Piece Live Action Episode you can watch three(3) One Piece Anime Episodes ;)
But (1) One Piece Live Action episode has 6-8 episodes of anime material in it.
@@Komaesa well... not really, because they cut out almost half of the story on the way...
25:52 Usopp is the sniper.
They never name dropped him but helmeppois my favorite
Well they did in episode 4 when luffy barfed on him
i don't want to spoil the anime for you but I giggled when you thought his bounty could be 600 million because Mihawk's bounty is above 3 billion lmfao
600M for Mihawk. Not a bad guest, just need to add 3 in front of it.
i really love how the live action just ABSOLUTELY NAILED the Mihawk encounter. it really drives home that luffy and zoro are just big fish in small, tiny, miniscule pond. there are so many people just as strong as Mihawk in the Grand Line, and plenty that are stronger.
"What was his bounty?" 👀
Spoilers:
Don Krieg also thought Mihawk has a devil Fruit power, and it turns out that Mihawk is just that OP w/o a df
mihawk Bounty 3.500.000.000
This is just a small taste, hope you watch the Anime affer this, at least till where this season covers ep 45
God Ussop
20:36 Dragon Ball came first. By more than a decade.
Mihawke!!!
"What is his bounty, six hundred million?" - Well, let's say something like 5x more XDDD
That's a different bounty to the one they're asking for.
Let's just say they put in "bounty cancelled" for a reason, I don't think the Warlords' former bounties age well.
Girl, you deserve better.
Damn you got spoilers in comments
Another spoiler
Mihawk during Marineford War cut a huge ice mountain and Luffy his opponent at that time amazed
Expecting live action Usopp to ‘have a moment’? That’s funny.
