  • Using Spleeter I've removed John Squire's guitar track and replaced with my own. The parts are more or less what was played live during the 'reunion' tour of 2017 and I've used the version from Budokan here: • The Stone Roses - Live...
    I'm going into an ABY box to split the signal. Left hand side is into Line 6 M5 using its (slow) Leslie simulation, then to an Amplifire-box on its Vox setting. Right hand side is a Mooer 019, which mimics a Marshall 50w Plexi. Then that goes into two channels on my DAW, where I'm adding some hall reverb.
    I'm playing a Tokai Les Paul copy with capo at the first fret.

    First person to tackle this, thanks very much! Favourite song on the album, only recently understood the association with Paris/‘68/the lemons & tear gas

      Thanks Sean. This differs from the album version a bit as obviously John is combining multiple parts into one - elements of rhythm and lead combined.

      @@HeadlessGuitarPlayer he is also simplifying the chorus section to perform the song more easily.

    Love these covers of live versions, very insightful into johns playing. Thanks very much for your efforts and more of the same! Maybe sally cinnamon at the hacienda? Also been looking for a good quality live version of ten story love song …cheers.

      Thanks. I'm planning on doing more from the Japan 2017 gig for a few reasons. 1) Audio is decent so I can isolate the guitar track to study it 2) I can then remove Johns parts and replace with mine 3) the multi-angle video is good for showing where his hands are at.

    Awesome cover. I just tackled the studio version and the chorus section goes into that country esq part. There is a video of him playing this live without a capo which was insightful!

      Thanks, appreciated. This is basically my attempt of a note-for note transcription of how it was played at a gig in Japan: ruclips.net/video/u_2SKa-SbDo/видео.html. I've muted John's guitar and recreated it in essence.

      @@HeadlessGuitarPlayer yeah I did listen to that when I was researching how he played it. The tempo was a quicker on your version so maybe John thought I’ll just play chords here :) You nailed it here!

    • @HeadlessGuitarPlayer
      @HeadlessGuitarPlayer  2 года назад +1

      If I'm being honest, I think he might have played the chords in part to keep the band (including Ian) in the pocket with all the constant 4/4, 2/4 meter changes. If you watch the Madison Square Garden version of this you'll see what I mean :)

    Im not keen on the octave chord parts he does live instead of the single notes from the lp. You totally nail it from 2:55. It is very fast and rockier than compared to the original too. The changes from 4/4 to 2/4 are what puts them on par with the beatles.
