  • After hours of transcribing and research I was shocked that John actually played it like this!
    This journey to get to my transcription video was interesting and I wanted to share it to get you on a quest of discovering.
    Bye Bye Badman by The Stone Roses. The bit thay took me so long was getting the chorus down how John Squire played it on the record.

    Did you know John spent about 300,000 of the geffen advance for second coming album on a 59 Les Paul.😂 It does sound amazing when he plays it, I heard it live at Roses reunion gig in Dublin, amazing player.

      Wow! I didn’t know this! 😂 Did he then have to sell it to pay the fee back? I know he recently purchased at 58 with bigsby as he didn’t have his 59 which you are referring to.

      Alot of people play this with the capo as from this video he plays it without. Check out my full run through ruclips.net/video/imW2x04TlnM/видео.html and let me know what you think. I have spent along time trying to get it note for note on the record. Be great to hear what you think? It certainly makes it harder though not having a capo! So not sure why John did this without. Thanks Kevin

    • @kevinborland2090
      @kevinborland2090 2 года назад +2

      @@RiffsRhythm I think he changed it for Ian Browns voice, to suit his lower key of voice, same with Where Angels Play in the rehearsal. Playing with a capo and all the pedals squire had in 89-90, along with the twin fender amp, drowned his vocals out. He always complained about Squire playing to loud. The way squire set up and played post 2012 completely different to Blackpool 89

    • @RiffsRhythm
      @RiffsRhythm  2 года назад

      @@kevinborland2090 this version is in the same key as the original just not played with capo. Yeah I did hear that he was always mega loud and I think this continued in The Seahorses too. John liked to be heard :)

    I love playing this track. I wouldn’t say it was hard. As soon as you’ve learnt it, muscle memory kicks in and away you go! But I do enjoy the slow process of working out the notes. Tabs?……..PAH! Use your own tabs(ears)to learn! It’s far more rewarding. Nicely done mate👊🏼
