    Its great to get a reality check like this video. Sometimes, as a DCS player, I think "hey I could have been a figther pilot!" And then i watch this, and I understand nothing 😂

    Now you need to do the same with Mover and teach him how to be an Apache pilot. He already earned his rotary license so it shouldn't be too hard lol

      @@CWLemoine When I was a kid a family friend of ours was starting in the Air Force (eventually went on the fly the C-130) and he knew I liked planes and would always do a little checklist with me when we were driving somewhere. It always cracked me up as a kid hearing him sit there and go "Engine starting. Engine's started. Disengaging parking brake. Brake's off" and then say things like "Check right" and just look at me with a "Well, hurry up" face until I stopped laughing and said "Clear right" at intersections.
      It was all made that much cooler, because whatever Pontiac car he had also happened to have one of those old 80's/90's HUDs on it for speed and direction.

    I almost think the planes pick us as much as we pick them. The Strike Eagle just might be more your fit for fixed wing(?)
    But with that said; with everything, it’s a practice-practice for us mere mortals. Thanks for sharing the learning with us!
    Its too bad Gonky will never have a DCS setup. I’d love to see him teach the same on the Hornet.

    Would love for mover to do F16 basics series. Not weapons or radar or combat that he can't go into details of because he'll end up in GITMO. But just. Basic taxi etiquette, take off, landing. ATC communications, etc

    The no trim thing is super interesting. Maybe it's just bad habits in general, or just me flying the Hornet incorrectly, but I feel like I was just trimming the Viper and Hornet a lot.
    This has been a fun video series so far. It's always tough for me to feel comfortable flying on multiplayer just because flying solo means it's so easy to have no skills in comms, formation flying and everything else when it's generally just you solo offline.

    regarding your controls issue. remember that anytime you install a new input device, DCS maps axis controls to it. sometimes, you have to drag the controls screen horizontally, while in axis commands filtered mode, to see that some other device has yaw, pitch or roll mapped to it erroneously. you probably knew all this, but a reminder just in case :)

    As an absolute amateur i find the f16 super sensitive and hard to control, heard that before. But it's comforting to see a real pilot struggle too. The x52 doesn't feel cut out for the sensitive stick of the viper.

    Nice video Casmo. Thank you. Please do more of F16. I am IRL helicopter pilot so the 64 is close to my heart (I love to play CPG), but my pilot is not always available. So I decided to get into a FW and did choose the F16c. I am now in process of learning how to operate this acft., so I do appreciate info on the tactic and practical procedures. The info on systems and weapons operation are easy to find in guides and manuals, but tactics not so much. So thanks again.

    The trim part is funny cause in DCS you trim roll A LOT like constantly if its any asymetrical and even carrying the t-pod makes it asymetrical.. funny enough in good old Falcon 4.0 you didnt need ever to touch the trim because Falcon 4.0 couldnt simulate asymetrical loads.. so even with 5 bombs on one wing and non on the other the game would consider all center line

    I follow you and Mover and you both are great! ❤
    Just a few tips for a better Viper experience:
    - On you HUD you have UHF and VHF radio infos, but you usually don't need this, because you have this infos on in right DED. Probably, the switch on the right console is on DED data, should be on OFF.
    - On the UCP in front, you have the 3 way switch DRIFT C/0 - NORM - WARN RESET. If you "lose" your HUD to a direction, you can click ON WARN RESET to recenter it. If you click on DRIFT C/0 you will have the HUD always centered despite the wind (hud moves to signaling the cross wind, so if it moves to the right, it means the aircraft is "pushed" on the right by the wind that comes from the left) .
    - On the approach to landing, your HUD is switched to A-A. It's better to have the aircraft in NAV mode when landing. (press again A-A)
    - When you are in on the DOWNWIND LEG, you should start the gear down at 3/4 of the runway.
    Please keep this kind of videos coming ! We need this !

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine Месяц назад

      DED to the HUD is standard. It’s to film the info for your tapes and debrief later. Most people don’t fly around in DRIFT C/O.

    Mover and you, what a nice pair! I like such videos! even if bullets are not flying through air... its still enjoyable.
    Please do more with him. What would be nice to hear from him? You can continue what you began... some more departure and arrival/approach stuff, breakups - rejoins, explaining radio procedures, callsigns on AUX/PRI how it is affected when there is admin or Tactical Lead change. Use of single or double digit C/S by USAF - how again would be the wingmen numbering affected by Lead change, by formation split - here especially, if the new admin Lead will use old Leads tactical C/S as we can watch in video in link: ruclips.net/video/TZGMUwFI_lY/видео.html

    When saying BRA, between bearing and range there should not be word "for". it could mislead to number 4. I would like to ask Mover, if they use it IRL. Seems they did, cause he said it here in this video.

    • @CasmoTV
      @CasmoTV  Месяц назад

      Meh. Not if you’re a native English speaker. It makes no sense to say range bearing and then suddenly say “hey number 4”.

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine Месяц назад

      I did not use BRAA here. I know you’re probably referring to bullseye format, but there is a distinction. BRAA is from you to a target. Bullseye is a position relative to a fixed point.

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine Месяц назад +1

      Also, to add, there’s a difference between casual jibber jabber (What we’re doing) and 3-1 standard comm. This was not meant to be the latter.

      @@CWLemoine hi there. No, it doesn't matter, or BRA, BRAA or Bullseye, do you guys IRL say like "for" between bearing and range, or you don't? Based on your words at 8:08 you used "for". Could it be misleading in any case with a number 4? I guess not, even if I'm not a native english speaker. But there are some tutorial which teach not to use "for" word.
