  • Hi everyone In this video I’m travelling down to Brisbane again to get some work done on my dot trailer ,while I was down there I had the opportunity to look at the new Drifta 270° freestanding awning , As I just decided to remove my 30 Second awning From the FJ and put it back on my teardrop I needed to get a new awning. I had checked out some other products but having the opportunity to look in touch the new Drifta one made up my mind, also the fact that they only had two left made me make my decision quicker, it seems like a fantastic awning quick to deploy and quick to put away ,I’ll be looking forward to testing it out in the future and tell you what I think but so far I’m very happy with it , the price is reasonable and and unfortunately it is very hard to find an Australian built one that is a reasonable price ,when money is Something to consider I hope you enjoy thanks for watching like always stay safe be kind to each other and I’ll see you on the next one 👍 ps if you wantto go straight to Where i start showing the awning go to 9:10 on the time line cheers 👍

    Hi Steve Do you think this awning is big enough for general use. I notice now Drifta have another model which is bigger. Do you think it's worth the extra money, or stick with the smaller one.?

    • @Sawadventures67
      @Sawadventures67  Год назад

      The Stockton awning the original one isn’t the biggest, but it still gives you plenty of coverage with the walls. You could put a swag under there as for the bigger drifta awning. I’m not really sure I haven’t seen one but saying that I have seen some clips, I’m not really a fan of the lights in the arms. Not sure how they would go if they over stopped working but that’s only my opinion

      Yeah mate, I still have the awning I don’t use it for Camping under. I’m only just use it for shade when we’re using the trailer. It’s great just for pulling out and sitting under when travelling quick and easy for the price i would say it’s worth considering I haven’t had any problems with it seems pretty well put together only have to tighten the bolts on the swing arms. Occasionally they seem to work their way loose.

    G'day mate, good clip bud! Have been looking at these awnings online now for a little while... but as I mentioned on Ed's video... I've found having a supercab is a real downer when it comes to awnings. This 270 is exactly what I would love, but don't think the SpaceCab can do it 😰 Good in depth clip though mate! Well done! 👍 Cheers, Rob

    Hi mate, very helpful video. I'm looking for a 270 awning but have the following issue. I have a similar setup in the back of my FJ except I don't have a drop down fridge slide but rather a straight pull out slide as part of the Drifta draw setup. My issue is that with my Engel 40l, when I open the lid, it sticks up very high. Can you let me know if you can open your fridge lid fully (with the slide out but not dropped down) without hitting the arm on the awning? I imagine it will lift the canvas a little but don't see that as a big issue. The question is, can I properly open the lid at all?

    That orange cars awning looks like its gonna blow over on it self. They look pretty flimsy. If the awning requires poles for support its not a free standing awning even if bits a "bit windy". These are just like any other chinese made awning with a different logo on it. Shame drifta has had to do down the chinese route.

    • @acafwd
      @acafwd 2 года назад +4

      Hi Krump.
      There was no way that awning was going to blow over. Come out to the store and see it in person. Wind will lift up any canvas if it is windy. That is the nature of the product.
      Dunno who you were listening to to get the idea that support poles are required because support poles are NOT required. We have added points where people can place them in if they wish to. An example of when they might like to is when adding canvas walls. It provide extra support and allows it to sit solid. Steve needed a pole because the height he has his roof racks at. Thats the only reason and it is not particular to the product, just his setup.
      And no, they are not the same as any other "chinese made" awning. We go through thorough testing of these before we release them to the public. We do that to make sure that the customer is getting a great value product that is reliable.
      Have a look around your home and see how many products you own are not Australian made. I wish we could manufacture everything in Australia, but for certain products it makes more sense to import them, as the cost to manufacture them here would make them beyond the reach of many Aussies. I see this through the younger generation of customers coming into the store now.
      Drifta still sell Aussie made. That has not changed. Drifta Stockton however has always been imported products. That is one of the differences between the two companies. If you want to be able to support Aussie workers, come into any of the Drifta or Drifta Stockton stores, as they all sell the Aussie made Canvas products made at Drifta Gloucester.
      Rob.

      @@acafwd it wasnt the canvas blowing in the wind thats inevitable, it was the awning arms bracketry that was flexing in the video.
      The video stated that a pole will be used above the door to stop it hitting the door (take the slack out) so it doesnt blow around in the wind.
      Agree good value for money is fine and thats great, but 30 second awning bush wakkas (chinese version) ect are all pretty much the same. 30 second doesnt (need poles) but has them, the bushwakka doesnt use poles either. All around the same price point all of the same design qualities.
      Yep around the home there is not much if anything australian made, which is why drifta stood out. Offered premium products that will last years if not decades. The issue with cheap junk these young kids buy today is when it breaks its left in the bush nobody respects their gear cause its so cheap to replace. Their drawers are the best on the market, custom made to what ever one wants. No company if any offers that service which is why they are a force in the fitout market. Drifta was very unique in that way.
      Anyway its hard for you to be objective as you work for them, i have my opinion you will have yours. It is just my observation from the video you uploaded and i watched on the awning.

      Hi just a quick correction to your comment I didn’t say in the video that I was putting the pole there to stop the wind blowing it on the door I said I had the awning as low as possible to fit in my garage which made that arm hit the back door if I could raise the awning higher I wouldn’t have to put the pole there like Rob said Maybe you should go to the shop and check it out for yourself not make a decision on 40 seconds of footage on a clip that’s why I said I wouldn’t Buy it online I only bought it if I went down and checked it out cheers thanks for sharing your thoughts any comments are great as long as they are based on facts and relevant to the clip

      @@krump743
      There was no flexing of the awning in the video. The part you saw moving was a result of the slight give the racks brax have. They are a plastic mold and hence have some slight room in them to move. That should be expected.
      Poles are added for downward support when you want to use walls. Same as other awnings on the market. eg the Bushwakka one you mentioned (next gen extreme) which actually comes with a pole.
      The tie down points are used for when it is windy. Because we were demonstrating the awning on bitumen and had no sand bags that would be typically used where pegs cannot be used,, we were unable to show this feature.
