Looks like you had the awning mounted to the canopy as well as the roof racks on the car. If so I'd advise you remove from the car, the cab and the tub are mounted to the chassis separately and therefore move independently of each other, so you're like to flog out the rack or the brackets.
A worthy point you raise Matt but I am hoping that there is enough flex in the awning that will compensate for the difference in any movement that may occur between mounting points. The awning itself is very flexible front to rear.
Just noticed you've got a bracket on your cab, and another one on your canopy on your tub. I have always understood this is recommended to be avoided at all costs to allow for movement and flex between your cab and your tub, to avoid things breaking. How's it been working out?
For the period that I had that set up, it worked ok for one simple reason. The front bracket was only strong enough to prevent the awning pulling outward from the vehicle, not in any other direction. You are correct with your thoughts, it isn't recommended and not my first choice. The awning was longer than preferred but it was the only length that was long enough to fit their 30 second awning tent too.
The cap mounting isn't a rigid mount like the canopy mountings. The cab is mainly to stop the awning from pulling away from the cab but still allows it to move up and town with the flex of the flat bracket.
It actually is mounted to one Bar on the cabin roof and then the rest is mounted onto the Rhino Platform above the rear canopy. The Platform is 1.5 mtrs long.

How the mounts going on both the cab and the canopy? I’m wanting to mount a 2.5 awning myself to a ascent canopy.

Very keen to see the 30 second dome tent. It being good or not is stopping me pulling the trigger on this awning.
We are still waiting for the extra poles to be available and then we will put up a video on the tent part of it.

Hi Have you had any problems with water pooling, when it rains.?
We are yet to use it when it is raining. Any of the reviews that I have watched seem to say they are good in the rain, time will tell.
