Question of the Day 💡Which of these microphones did you like the best? Let us know! ***** Check out the Sony ECM-GZ1M Microphone HERE ➡ geni.us/iVYrXF (Amazon)
Thank you for shooting in a noisy outdoor environment. It highlights how well each mic handles ambient noise. I was impressed how well these mics sounded and isolated your voice without losing the ambiance of the location.
I love how you can type something into RUclips and the perfect thing pops up. Excellent video - clear, a minimum of branding and style-izing that people to "pop" their channels; articulate, easy to follow, a veritable user manual in a nutshell; and warm, human, focused, competent. Congrats. You're nailing it.
This is actually the perfect video I’ve been looking for on these mics. I have the A6000, and as you know, this does not come equipped with the 3.5mm jack. Thanks for the great video!!!!
I think the one before the last one the (Sony Digital XLR Adaptor Kit with Microphone) or ( Sony ECM-B1M Compact Shotgun Microphone with Digital Audio Interface,Black - XLR-K3MSony Digital XLR Adaptor Kit with Microphone - XLR-K3Mgravitated) to me because I'm a run & gun indie guerrilla documentarian, filmmaker, actor, producer, screenwriter, RUclipsr, vlogger, visual artist, vfx artist, videographer, cinematographer in the making etc.
Sony ECM-B1M works on 90% of Sony mirrorless cameras in “Analog”. Only works on newer cameras in “Digital”. Analog your still able to clip audio if you don’t set level right. However in Digital, it’s nearly impossible to clip audio.
I was using a couple of different Rode mics and always fumbling with the cables. I bought the Sony ECM-B1M and really like it. Yes, it's expensive but it takes a lot of guess work out of situations. I use it mostly on the Sony ZV-E10 and it can also be used on my Sony A7IV.
I’m sure you already have it planned but I’d love to see the Sony ECMW2BT vs the Deity Pocket Wireless vs the Rode Wireless Go since they’re all within the $150 - $200 price range.
Thanks for the detailed rundown of Sony mics, I’m just starting out, I have a zv-e10, ecm gz 1m is the one I’m going to go with, the simplicity sells it to me. You are always very informative :)
Have you used the Sony ECM-XYST1M Stereo Microphone for any work? I've used them on my R10 iV and a Sony 4K Camcorder and the convenience of NO Caables is really significant for me. Curious if you've tested/ used one. Cheers Rick
I do two person interviews (when there are events) or solo content. The conclusion I came to for my zv e10 was the ecm-b1m wouldn't work for my use case for the mobility and small for factor convenience. So I got the ECM-W2BT. I'll create a handheld device for the mic when I use it with another person, like a reporter with a wand. It was cheaper used than me going down the rode wireless go ii path and fewer wires. The XLR k3m was a close second but ppl were not confident it could get a good quality audio 5-10 feet away on a trade show floor, I liked the XLR option for higher quality mic tho. The problem was the design is for their mic otherwise you have to break the form factor.
While cool and keeping your branded gear consistent, for the price points, I would probably go with the Rode Wireless Go II system. The addition of an audio cable to the camera is a minor inconvenience for the features and flexibility.
Thank you so much for this Omar! Not bought my Sony camera yet but this is helpful for me that to buy once i get my camera. The XLR-K3M looks awesome for indoor studio work and podcasts...but would one of the others be just as good?
I recently bought a Rode Videomic Go II for my Sony ZV E10 and it was a massive fail. I kept loosing audio and the sound was just distorted. It had a mind of its own. It would record clearly sometimes and then switch to distortion. Can someone tell me which mic works best for Sony ZV E10 please?
Do you recommend any of these for ASMR as well as a vlog mic for the Sony ZV-E10 :) am wanting to do cooking ASMR outside and also outside vlogging but am unsure which one would be superior for both my needs :) thanks so much
Thank you for this content, I am thinking about the Bluetooth"Sony ECM-W2BT" My setup a6600 + 35mm f1.8 weights 700-800g, i always have it in my bag. I am thinking about getting a allover zoom still compact and for me is really better lightweight 365 days a year in my back pack that exeptional but in a box at home 364days nd 1 day only when planned out. I have seen other videos about the Sony ECM-W2BT, can you please confirm me that you cannot see the gain or set the gain on the camera when the mic is set on digital and you can only set the gain connecting a cable in analog mode? thanks a lot, Max :) Awesome content as always, compliments.
I have a sony hx400v will a Sony external microphone work to some extent? I know they are not completely compatible but is it so much that I will notice? I shoot outside.
I’ve been trying to figure why the battery go’s dead very fast on my Sony Zv-1! I’m finding myself not using it, but that’s a waist of money not to use it :( Do you have any advice?
Please Help: I just ordered the Sony ZV 1F and and Sony ECM B10 Mic - I have not been able to find information on their compatibility. Are they compatible? Can I use that mic on that camera? plesse help so I can cancel order before it is too late. Thank you.
Thank you much for the prompt reply. I have been doing talking head with my iPhone but now I want to introduce vlogging to spice up boring economic development tip bits.
Increase in mic sensitivity? Like when things get quiet, the mic may increase the audio pick-up. Normally what it does is pick up more noise during quieter moments.
Can anyone tell me why, when I plug in my Samson USB mic to my Sony ZV E-10, the sound downgrades considerably compared to when it's recorded to my computer on Quicktime? Thank you for your help, I cannot seem to find this answer anywhere
I found the Sony Stereo mic actually worse than the internal mic on the zv1! The amount of self noise indoors is way above its own mic to be honest. Great pity, but actually just goes to show what a good job Sony did with the camera.. Only thing is that the stereo mic is directional and the internal isn’t.

I definitely need a camera I use my phone for everything
