Black Powder 15mm American War of Independence: Battle of Bolton Road
This week we return to America, but dial back the clock to 1777 and the American revolutionary war, of American war of independence for a game of Black Powder 15mm ACW.
This is our first time playing AWI using Black Powder rules, so hope you enjoy this weeks battle report.
Watch and see as Georges American Continental army take to the field to defend the Bolton Road flank of their army and as they try to locate and hold off the advancing British red coat army… the battle is set, the armies are ready - both battalion’s and regiments of the Continental army are looking for revenge and to give the British a bloody and final blow.
Another great battle, fantastic board and a few laughs and banter along the way…
…but who will win, watch and see!

War Dog & Field Marshal Grey Wolf. 👍🏻
Spledid game Chaps! Loved seeing the cavalry go toe to toe ;)
Yes that was a great moment, we need to recreate that at some point in another game 👍🏻
Thanks for the comment
Lovely looking table and armies. I’m going to give this period a go using 6mm miniatures and the ‘Live Free or Die’ rules.
Excellent news, 6mm is a bit small for me, but George would say Gods own scale as he loves it!
Great period to try 👍🏻
Good luck and thanks for the positive comment 😊
I do love your battle reports. They way you explain that actions and dice is very good.
However, thanks to you I am now looking at AWI OOBs and Pendraken minis lol
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it, we certainly did…. Good luck with your new endeavours in to AWI 15mm👍🏻
Another Great Game Gents! Many Thanks. Lovely miniatures & table👍
Thank you, it was a great game, with well painted figures and well thought out board. As always it was also a bit of a laugh, so we had fun.
Glad we were able to share it with everyone 👍🏻
Splendid looking armies!
Thank you, George has quite a collection of well painted figures and plenty of scenery too, so it makes for a great game!
Thanks again 👍🏻
Wonderful bat rep gents. subbed!
Thank you for the comment and thank you for the sub. We have another Black Powder battle report coming soon! 👍🏻
Great battle, always enjoy seeing black powder
Thanks, we enjoyed the game too, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Great battle report! Really enjoyed this. The models look amazing, especially the British redcoats!
Just need to catch up on the 2 previous bolt action videos now. Thank you as always!
Yes you do! Our recent battle reports are good ones… if I do say so myself 😉
This was an enjoyable game, both because of the well presented armies and table by George but also because it was a great fun game.
Thanks again for your support 👍🏻
@@theministryofminiatures Yeah, I'll be watching later today whilst painting more Napoleonics! I'd love so see more AWI, the uniforms and Tricorne hats are just great! Take care ☺️
@@TheGreyWolf94cool 👍🏻 I did take my 28mm AWI force to my local club and had a try at Sharpe Practice… hoping we can put some battle reports out for that sometime… plus Peninsular or Napoleonic eventually!
@@theministryofminiatures That would be awesome! If you need any models for any Napoleonic battle reps, let me know I have a fair amount of French 28mm troops I'd happily lend :)
@TheGreyWolf94 will do thanks, very generous offer, ideally we can get our own armies sorted out! Thank you though 👍🏻
Very nice table. Keep these reports up.
Thank you, much appreciated 👍🏻
Our plan is to get a Black Powder or similar once a month.
Glad you liked it, we enjoyed the game so it’s great to be able to share.
Thanks again.
Very nice terrain and figures (I wonder what make?). Really helpful explanation of rules as you go too.
Hello George here. Thank you for your positive comments. All the figures are by Peter Pig, my favorites for this period.
Thanks George, looking forward to our next Black Powder session 👍🏻
Great batrep guys!
Thank you! We enjoyed it too… we have another 15mm AWI Black Powder out in less than an hour 👍🏻
Thanks again for your comment.
Perfect - just starting my own AWI project at 28mm
@James_P_Wargaming I also have 28mm AWI, the Perry figures are really nice 👍🏻
Good luck with yours, such nice armies when they are completed.
Looking forward to seeing this all the way through. Will have to shoot off in abit but looking good so far!
Thank you, let us know what you thought, and whether you want to see more AWI ?
Thanks again 👍🏻
@@theministryofminiatures great bat rep really enjoyed Bear's flanking cavalry. Would be interested to see more AWI/Black Powder reports.
@johnbattyll6874 thank you. Hopefully we will be doing one a month both ACW and AWI… we might even do a short campaign 👍🏻😜
@@theministryofminiatures I look forward to seeing them and a campaign would be awesome but also no pressure.
@johnbattyll6874 we are really looking forward to working out what and how we are going to do it!
Never seen Black Powder in action before. Is it an I Go You Go system? I have a bit of an aversion to IGYG. Have you ever tried alternate activations by unit?
Hi, yes it’s an IGYG, it actually works quite well as the game play is fairly fast paced and so the gameplay swaps over fairly quickly.
@@theministryofminiatures Cool! Was looking at this because of the new Waterloo Epics. May have to take the plunge!
I have been looking at the Epic ACW…. Sooo tempting with the starter sets!
Why weren't you removing the disorder markers at the of the turns?
We meant to....kept forgetting to do it! Sorry for any confusion caused.
Thanks George!
