Nice, very nice. Thank you, Maestro. Once again you have done me well. My son is a, Producer/DJ and has 3 websites. I mention this cause, when he's hired for formal functions such as, Business Meetings, Dinners, etc... He plays some, Brazilian relaxing Music. He's very good at it, I gave him his 1st professional DJ set up for his, 15th Birthday and now he's 31 and extremely good at it, Composing and Producing and Mixing, New Wave Music and thanks to you and this lesson I have furthered my playing rhythms in, Brazilian Music and can play my, Tumbadoras along side with more of his, Brazilian selection and have some good family fun together. By the way it's his daughter that I have taught to play hand percussion & she's only 3yrs old & his son, now 7months old is already tapping the, Tumba with 2 hands. Thank you, very very much, Maestro. God Bless.
Well, this is so nice to know! You bring the joy that music can give to your family! I know how important this is. I come from music family too. I hope that I can see your family playing Brazilian music one day! Keep enjoying it!!
Great videos with precise and practical instruction! In this and your other videos you take the mystery out of learning to play these rhythms with authenticity. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. It would be much clearer if you first demonstrated a complete uninterrupted rhythm, then showed how it was done, then showed the complete rhythm again. Show, tell, then show.
you are the greatest instructor. very clear step by step instruction... thanks very much! one question... when you have a finger tip in the rythme, i,m not sure if this is just a quiet spacer note, to fill a pause, or an actual louder sound to be played like any other? i hope you know what i mean?
+dorjezenpa Thank you and I am glad you like the video! The fingertip doesn't have to be played very loud. It is good for the timing and to fill spaces. Good luck!!
Michael de Miranda Brasilian rhythms can be learned for fun but I'm more interested with latin rythms, can you make a video about improvisation in latin music or salsa music? like this video: gpR7in7Qa-E&list=PL9BF49A2AB7C9F2EB It would be great
Hi Michael, I look forward to trying this - could you suggest a track to play along with when playing this and the recent samba lessons, thanks for the great videos
ok so cha cha (tumbau)with and extra slapito on the left hand , most Boss Nova music I have heard does not have congas in it at all,,but innovative for sure ! great instructor
thank you for all your videos. I Think It's any ways more for play samba on the congas...(from afro brazilian, samba de roda...) Bossa nova is not a ryhtm, but just a cultural and musical context from 50's 60's Rio De Janeiro, influenced by the samba, jazz arrangements, crooner... with emptied way in the rythm (more with drumset) very often and in truth in "2/4" not regular "clave" following the theme, the guitar or the piano, not like we say out of brazil. This style stay until at present, like a "soft jazz samba", fast or slow. But we can use the congas for add a nice sound in the music like in the MPB ;=)
I often feel I'm being taught how to mix paint and use a brush without being given much knowledge or instruction on how to create a painting of art. There are so many lessons on how to play this or that rhythm but there are very few instructions on how to aproach particular songs to illustrate the "how's" & "why's" within a musical context - i.e. how much creative license, how much interpretation of the rhythm vs how strict and when it is ok to bend the rules if at all. An applied conga instruction so to speak.
michael teacher.. i very latin music.. bossanova is so wonderful voice.. thank you so much..😊

hi Michael, Whats your favorite pitch on each drum when you are playing three Congas?
thank you for all your videos.
