    Very interesting. First of all, I'm impressed with the sound quality (I'll double check on headphones but listening through Dali speakers, it's sounding good).
    Secondly - they have totally created the DJI Mic but cheaper. A corner cut here or there but overall, many of the same features. This is the first lav mic I've heard which comes close to the quality of the DJI. Very impressive!! And a VERY thorough tour!!

    Just got mine. Works great! I have noticed an interesting feature. The noise reduction does not get activated ever when the receiver is not paired. I actually like this - as will not be using NR and do not want accidental press. Unfortunately, when paired, NR works on both internal recording and the receiver. Thanks again for the review and earlier help in the comments!

      Correct! It will not activate, thank God! I never use the receiver. ONLY the recorders. The difference in audio quality from the recorder is astronomically superior than using via wireless. That applies to ALL units like this regardless of brand.

But then run the risk of NR being activated. I would imagine if charged them up fully could rely on them pretty well with no need to monitor. But always a chance I guess the unit could fail. Better to re mic the bride than not record any sound perhaps.

    Great review! Since you didn't mention it, I fear FULAIM made a BIG oversight. Is there a way to turn off the LEDs on the transmitters when recording? There are many times that I don't want them on when they are attached to someone.

    • @ArtVideoProductions
      @ArtVideoProductions  8 месяцев назад +1

      If there was such feature, I would have mentioned.
      No you cannot turn them off. I understand the needs and sometimes I would want that, but at the same time I want them on so I can make sure it’s recording especially when someone is wearing it because I do not (ever) use the wireless side of it.
      Why don’t you simply reverse it by having the LEDs facing the talent’s body instead of facing the camera? That should be equally as relevant.

    Great video! I bought this device and am learning to use it properly with your great tips! Can you expand on the use of the headphone jack vs the "out" jack and setting maximum gain on the transmitter and lower the gain in camera (which I hadnt hear of doing before for wireless mics). Is this true for all wireless mics or say shotgun external mics with gain control or does it depend on the mic? I have APSC Sony ZV-e10 for reference. thanks for sharing your knowledge!

    • @ArtVideoProductions
      @ArtVideoProductions  Год назад +1

      The headphone output is always stronger than the mic signal. That’s the trick. Keep the gain on DSLRs and mirror less as low as possible to avoid floor noise. The pre amps on these as you know are not great.
      As far as shotguns, that’s out of the scope. Whatever the situation is, do that only on wireless receivers, mixers or anything that has a headphone out in case the normal OUT Jack isn’t enough signal.

    The Fulaim X5 is ok, and indeed with the noise suppression there is distortion of the voice, especially if there is music in the background, for example. But even without noise reduction activated and the number of DB set to line two, the voice is sometimes distorted, even when recording directly into the transmitter.

    • @ArtVideoProductions
      @ArtVideoProductions  7 месяцев назад +1

      For my use, I will never need / use that filter. Other than that, this set is great, can be used for professional applications the quality of the mics are outstanding and it’s a Godsend when using it to mic a bride. Just don’t shout on the mic, no distortion. Keep that noise cancellation OFF at all times! Applies to all brands and models, be it Fulaim, Godox, GVM, etc.

    • @Traveltoppereu
      @Traveltoppereu 7 месяцев назад

      @@ArtVideoProductions I will indeed no longer use the noise reduction. If there is too much background noise, I suppress it with CapCut noise reduction, which in my opinion does a much better job. I have also tested recording live music concerts, with some it works reasonably well, with others less so. For example, at a live classical concert it works well, depending on where you can attach the microphones. I will also test your tip to set the dB on the receiver to maximum, and set it to minimum on the camera. What is also not perfect are the small magnets. After using it twice during an interview, I lost the magnets because the interviewees immediately removed the microphone without thinking about the magnet. So far I have not found any strong magnets as a replacement. My language is Dutch, and my English is basic, but I understand what you are saying. Thanks for your response. Greetings Eddy (Belgium)

    I just found out that on mine - the internal recording volume is set from the receiver! Not sure if this is bc i got the latest Neewer 28. But I spotted a minor bug which may have happened when you tried to set it? When the mic is powered on it defaults to rec lev 4. This does not change again until adjust the volume on the receiver. So it's possible for the receiver vol reading and the internal mic to be totally out of sync! The mic has no memory I guess so defaults to 4 at power on. But the receiver does have a memory and defaults to what it was last at! But the software should re sync the volumes when the receiver and mic first connect, I consider that a minor bug that we users need to be aware of! 4 is a good level to be at, so it's not likely to cause too many problems. Key point here is maybe you experience that bug when they were out of sync. Maybe retry and see if can set internal REC volume on the receiver? Either way, the default of 4 for internal recording seems to be a good level!

      @@ArtVideoProductions Thanks a lot! I am new to this. I assumed by compression you meant like mp3. But I just looked it up, glad you told me. Here is what I found online: "Compressing audio evens the dynamic range between the loudest and softest parts in the mix. It narrows out the levels and, by doing so, allows the audio to sit more comfortably in the final mix without extreme peaks.
      Leveling out the loud and quiet parts of the mix allows both to be heard more clearly. Adjusting the volume can only do so much. Therefore, compression allows for that overall balance."
