Darren, I think you were feeling down because you were leaving Tenerife you love so much and nothing seemed to be go right. Every time I left Thailand I had the same feeling, a country I just adore.
Sadly, many of the Biz lounges outside of the major hubs are like it these days. Air France at Geneva, BA at Düsseldorf, the list goes on. But I think that this particular lounge is the worst I‘ve seen…..safe onward travels always, DJ, and thanks for sharing.
Get as many drinks as you can drink. You can also only smoke in the lounge and the seating is comfier etc. In advance it’s only £26 so I don’t see the big deal

When we get to Tenerife departure we’ve got a bit of a tradition always get there in plenty of time go through as soon as we can then get a Burger King and be a couple of NERDS and sit and just stare at the planes coming and going and by the way love your channel
I agree the lounge offering in Tenerife South is poor and the last time I was in there, it was packed! Would have been very disappointed if I had paid for it. The food is normally quite good in CE, well on LHR routes anyway.
DJ, sorry to hear about your experience with BA, i think they are a shower of ... we have no direct flights to London from Zimbabwe so have use Emirates, Ethiopian or Kenya airways. My choice is Emirates, their business lounge in Dubai and London are something else, amazing selection of food. We can fly to Johannesburg then on to London with BA, wouldn't touch them.
They’re taking the utter P - hope get half your money back! Not a snob but like a canteen. Best bit was music - being a great singer, good ear for music! Safe travels 😀

That BA Club Europe is a bit of a con really...Having said that, the lounges at Heathrow and Gatwick are great. I stick to only using it when I have Avios to use up.
As I have said before I would never pay cash for a Business Class/Club Europe trip from London to Tenerife. AVIOS is the way to go. The lounges probably offer £50-£70 of added value in London for the food/drinks/snacks/alcohol and comfort you get for flying Club Europe. The Tenerife Lounge isn't a BA lounge, and that's where the problems start, BA isn't responsible for the standards they just offer it as an option for passengers travelling Business back to the UK. Generally, the lounges in major European Cities are much better than holiday destinations. You were unlucky with the onboard food, that rarely happens but I would put in a complaint to BA about this.

If you did you would have seen that DJ said there wasn't any hot food offering, and if you are flying business class anywhere in Europe part of working out how good value for money a business class ticket is checking out the offering in a lounge. You don't have to visit it, just do the research on the internet. We live in an era of online information right?

Best airport VIP lounge is the BA lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5. They’ve cooked food, curry, couscous, salads all sorts, huge choice of drinks and magazines and news papers.
So you left the sandwiches to then get a sandwich from another place 😂😂😂 a baguette is still technically a sandwich albeit a long one. Anything sandwiched between bread is a sandwich. You are funny at times. Good video but sad for you that the trip is over. I miss going on holidays.😢
Sorry mate, but i have been to.this lounge over 10 times and they have always had hot food there. Tbe lounge by far better than most lounges in Uk apart from the BA lounge.
We were there in december and had no hot food, they were doing alterations there so Some of it was boarded off, we had the same options as Darren had and there were flies flying all over the food, didnt eat any of it, we have been before and it was great that time with paella etc but the last visit was not good
So Darren. I booked BA club Europe for my honeymoon. I was in row 6. Someone behind me got moved after take off to an empty row 1 and ordered the same as I did. He got served his and when it got to me they had run out so kicked up a bit of a stink and I got offered a crew meal. It was a chicken tikka masala. Such a shame for you wasn’t a great experience.

Point is that Tenerife is (pity) almost an English enclave. You can not turn your back or there are English people. Many businesses with English owners etc. so no English breakfast at the airport. At least a place where Spanish influence is still going on. Fruit, alcohol, biscuits etc. for breakfast.
The Virgin Clubhouse lounge Heathrow used to have complimentary massages, that got knocked on the head along with the Jumbo's being retired early due to the pandemic. International travel has lost its sparkle. A think DJ could use some Emirates business class, no corners cut there
Don't worry DJ, we've all had that feeling once or twice. Paying for something, believing it to be better than it is, turning up, eating it etc, then feeling ripped due to the let down and initial cost. And that's why you still got a sandwich ;)
You are heading for a heart attack if you don’t watch it. So you don’t like salad? salad is amazing if you choose the salad items you like. You have that amazing air fryer use it and make that the main event on the plate. I love a salad different every night.
How disappointing. There is no point in eating something you don’t want, at least you got a lemon Fanta I suppose. That baguette looked good. Cannot believe there was no choice other than the salad when the Chicken Tikka ran out, very poor service. Hope you finally managed to eat in the end somewhere. The views from the plane were stunning.
Oh Darren, i've been lucky enough to have had Silver Membership with BA since 2021 and each time i flew to Tenerife, which in fairness is 14 times up until this January 2024 i've used this lounge.(Even though 12 times i flew Economy) it has been refurbished since i last used it , and they had hot food too, albeit not what i would be used to at Gatwick/Heathrow but i would prefer to sit in this lounge and chill before my flight anytime over the terminal.. It's like Business Class mate, Gatwick to Tenerife you get a leather seat and F&B, and priority Boarding, But Business Class to Miami is a whole different ball game.. 1st world problems mate..👍🙂
The Tenerife lounge hasn’t changed much. Food is rubbish and looks much the same now. I flew club Europe with BA and was in row 1!!! They started on the row one opposite me and by the time they asked me what I wanted the beef casserole was finished 🤷♀️ I ate rotten pasta instead and my husband a salad, something not right with their food options. On a a plus note the hotel you were in is beautiful. We always stay towards la caleta, really another world over that side……😍😎

It's never a good experience going home after you've had a good holiday and you would expect the VIP lounge to offer more 🤷♂️ it was a bit naff that 👎
Darren not a great end to your holiday & that lounge was very poor all round Hope you complained & refunded We use the lounge at Dublin airport before flying & the buffet changes depending on time of day Not a big variety but quality in most of their food there The plane footage was excellent & enjoyable though again unfortunate with the food availability which is why we prebook our seats when flying as limited supply especially on return flights xx👍👍
Wow... yeah that lounge was not ideal at all especially when you pay a premium to get in. I would have done the same thing and gone somwhere else. Must say loved the footage from the plane paired beautifully with the music. Shame they ran out of the food option you wanted on the plane. Thats so annoying when that happens. Overall though looks like you had another amazing trip to Tenerife. 🏝💙

The plane footage was excellent & enjoyable though again unfortunate with the food availability which is why we prebook our seats when flying as limited supply especially on return flights xx👍👍

Wow... yeah that lounge was not ideal at all especially when you pay a premium to get in. I would have done the same thing and gone somwhere else. Must say loved the footage from the plane paired beautifully with the music. Shame they ran out of the food option you wanted on the plane. Thats so annoying when that happens. Overall though looks like you had another amazing trip to Tenerife. 🏝💙
