  • I recently installed the Stage 2 kit from Martin Scott at RPM Motorsports along with a high flow cat and dual exhaust.
    In this video I'll give you my opinion on whether it's worth it or not along with letting you hear what the new exhaust with the high flow cat sounds like.

    Thanks for doing the review video. Great info! The improvements are what we are looking at for the roads we drive, which are usually 30-60 mph winding roads.We’re getting close to doing our 2.4 Sol, having added the hi flo cat and CAI already. Looking forward to the upgrade.

      Oh man. I wish we had more 30-60 mph winding roads around here. That kit should work out great for you in those conditions. I'm sure you'll have a fun time waking up that 2.4 :)

    So, I just sold my 2008 sky redline a few months ago. And i'm about to buy my 4th kappa. Thanks to you! Can't stay away from them for long, lol. I've been following you for a while. I've had an N/A solstice, a GXP trifecta tuned, a Sky Redline Trifecta tuned, and now, I have a bug to return to an N/A setup for autocross. You might think that I'm crazy for going from turbo back to NA, but I thought it would be fun to go ultra weight reduction all motor. I'm going to be removing the top, the side windows, the carpeting, everything HVAC related, the radio, speakers, most of the exhaust cut down to a side outlet. By my calculations I should be able to get it down from 2900 to 2500, with the trifecta tune which promises 20hp 15tq and a couple of bolt ons, I should be able to hit 200 crank. That's going from 16.38 lbs per 1 HP to 12.5 lbs per 1 HP. Should be fun, and I will document and record the process on youtube when the time comes.

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  4 года назад

      Sounds like a good plan. I also autocross with an NA, but it's not a dedicated autocross car so I still have all that weight on mine. I went with the RPM Motorsports Stage 2 tune for the NA and after the dyno, I'm now at 163 WHP. So that's in the 200 crank range. If you're not already a member, you should join the KappaCross Facebook group. It's a bunch of us Solstice/Sky owners that autocross. Just search KappaCross in the FB search area. Good luck and I hope to see your results.

      So after experiencing the car with a trifecta and turbo'd... your decision is to go back to 60 to 90 less hp and drop what little weight there is left on the car (already a light car in terms of power to weight ratio )? I am guessing you want to do this just because it sounds fun to go barebones ... Just because you can ? I guess it's hard for me to understand why you would want to go with LESS horsepower on this platform because I have the GXP (not trifecta yet) and it's barely enough car for me and makes me want more power to really pull as hard as i believe this go kart was really meant to go!

  • @DannyBrooks1
    @DannyBrooks1 5 лет назад

    Have you replaced the air filter with drop in K&N filter? If so what were the results. I read that was a cheap way to get a few more horsepower.

    Hi thanks for the fine vid ! but that crackel and pop you hear is called an after fire that is due to a rich mixture you should get with your tunner to fix that rich mixture.

      @MikesHouseOfMods  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Francisco. Actually, I don't mind the popping noise (in fact I like it) and I do understand that it's a rich mixture. However, I've been told by many people that it does not harm anything with the engine or exhaust....so I'll just enjoy the sound :)

    Mike, Have you dyno'd your car after installing this kit? I am wondering if you have dyno results after this, with a high flow cat, and dual exhaust (maybe cai)? Was there a real increase in HP? If so, how much? I currently have a high flow cat and dual exhaust and am debating on my next upgrade.

    Hey Mike!!!! I bought the Redline stage 2 kit from RPM and received it today!! I installed the upgraded turbo charge tubes. But I was thinking there would be some sort of OBD2 device in the package for Martin to do the stage 2 tune? I didn’t get any sort of device. What was your process in getting the tune done? Do I have to buy an OBD2 to computer link? Thanks for the info

      If you mean phone number, their website is www.rpm-motorsports.com . I did make a video of installing the injectors, but I haven't finished editing it yet. I had a lot of people email and message me about what I thought about the Stage 2 kit that I posted that one first. I hope to get the installation video done soon. The injectors weren't that bad to install. I never did anything like that before, but I was able to do it.

      Awesome Mike, I'm getting really sketchy to be honest about adding performance parts to my car. I'm already at 184 k and it's my every day use car for work, I want to but if I'm not gonna be able to enjoy it for long is what worries me. I always drive the limit but sometimes guys try to size me up, haha and believe it or not I've dragged sixes and v8 gt's At the end I do wanna do a swap with either a v8 or a 2jz. What's your opinion on this, should I wait??

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  6 лет назад +1

      Well, I don't think adding new injectors will do any harm to the engine. In fact, Martin Scott told me that when he does his tune, it's actually easier on the engine because of the increased fuel amount and what he can do with the trim levels. If you're serious, definitely give him a call and he'll let you know one way or the other.

    Is there a chip I can buy for my 2.4 to make it faster and would it put to much stress on the engine also do you think the value of the sky will go up because not that many were made thanks I love watching your videos from north Detroit

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  6 лет назад +1

      Dave Harm I believe there is a "chip" solution out there because I've heard of it. But every time I read about them, it said that they don't work and are a waste of money. I guess that's why I never persued it. If you want more power from your 2.4L, the best solutions are the NA Stage 2 Kit or Turbo option from RPM Motorsports. If you have extra money, you could also go the supercharger route from DDMWorks.

      What year is your car? Only up until 2007 did they have forged internals in the 2.4 engine. So you may want to check to make sure the engine can handle it before throwing nitrous into that sucker.

    I got to install the stage 3 turbo kit from rpm on my 07 redline. And ive got to admit im very disappointed with it the turbo came with a few loose screws mechanic didnt notice it till it was too late the actuator rod and the internal actuator were not functioning properly since 2 months ago when the turbo got damaged.
