Useless trivia, the Solstice/Sky was originally supposed to get a V8, but Chevrolet didn’t want any “in house” competition with their Corvette, so they forced Pontiac/Saturn to install the ECOtec four cylinder

The transmission is an AR5 transmission. It doesn't bolt right up to the JZ's you have to buy an AR5 swap kit (or piece everything together yourself) you'll need a 1jz bell housing and some parts off of a Toyota R154 transmission

I have the solstice 2.4 L and I don’t think it’s that slow. The gearing is nice and fifth gear is actually an overdrive. I roll through the gears and I move just fine. A track car it is not, but does feels nice on public roads. The handling is absolutely incredible!!

German Elite Tuning well Tiguan shares a motor with Audi q3 so no need to touch it
Most tiguans are already turbo’d
they use a CTS-V Gen one Rear End. its the Same trans as a R154 2J/7mgte Trans. Newer version, they also use them in the Chevy Colorado. that turbo is a Stock Turbo off the Turbo Version of the Solstice. Same Turbo as a Cobalt SS.
This car in europe is the Opel GT 2.0T 260+ hp and it comes with a K04 turbo as stock. K04 turbos are good for 400+ hp. I liked that you did it yourself and see the pontiac's version, hope your mom liked it!

Unsprung weight is everything (tires, wheels, axle, lower control arms, trailing links, etc.) between the ground and the springs. The reason it is important is because the lighter the unsprung weight, the better the contact between road and tire on uneven or rippled pavement (due to less upward inertia for the suspension to deal with when you hit a bump).
An easier way to bleed air out of the cooling system is to apply a vacuum to the bleeder port. If you don't have a self-bleeder kit for bleeding brakes, you can use a glass jar (like an empty pickle jar), hook up a vacuum line on one side of the lid and a line to the bleeder port on the other. The light vacuum at idle will suck the air out much faster and when you start to get a steady stream of antifreeze, you know you are done. As an added bonus, you capture the antifreeze instead of having it spurt out on the engine, so it doesn't make the car smell until it burns off and you can put the captured antifreeze back in the overflow tank.

Awesome! Loved the video!! I had a base solstice and upgraded to the GXP version which I just installed a new exhaust and tune on to. Love it!!! I actually still have the old stock dual outlet GXP exhaust if you wanted it for you mom you'd have to modify or get a new rear valance. I live in Miami if you did want it lmk. Love the vids Adam

That RTV on the exhaust manifold gasket is not required, and will burn away anyway. I mean it won't HURT (since it's sensor-safe Ultra Grey), but those little channels in the gasket are stamped like that because they deform when it's tightened to make the seal.
ps- Invest in an Air-Lift II tool for coolant filling, it's like $100 but saves your BUTT in filling/bleeding cooling systems. It just uses shop air over a venturi valve to pull a vacuum in the system, then let the coolant flow in to replace the sucked-out air. Especially after a water pump change where you don't want a bubble to cause it to cavitate, it's a life saver, even it's just to "be SURE" there are no air-bubbles causing your probs!

@adamlz i think thats the same ko4 turbo my cobalt ss uses wich uses the LNF ecotec 2.0l engine, those little turbos can run 22 psi and make 300 wheel atleast on the LNF motor in the cobalt ss and the SKY..

41:16 I had the same wheels for my Accord Wagon SiR in Japan and then transplanted them to my 2014 Civic Si. I love the look and the weight saving over stock. Even though they are made in Japan, Tire Rack beat local prices by over $100.

That’s crazy! My mom has a solstice gxp (factory 2.0t) and i definitely think it’s got potential to me more then the weekend cruiser.
The key to living with a Solstice is to use the opposite hand for everything. Left hand to grab things in the cupholder (still inconvenient, but that's why the included the inevitably-broken on on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel), right hand to open the door and hit the window switches. :) Fun video. Thanks!

The engine block looks like styrofoam because the alloy is cast in styrofoam molds and the surface finish is transfered from the mold to the hardened alloy.

that K04 is the same stock turbo my Volvo has on it, should be a pretty perky low lag turbo setup. safe and still fun for mom.
Same type turbo as the 5 cylinder 90's volvos. That diverter valve would have torn/ripped even if it wasn't damaged in shipping. They're notorious for that any time you run over stock boost even when they're OEM replacements.

Exactly what Alberto said. It needs more acceleration enrichment. That stomp the gas sputter is AE needing to be tuned finer. If you have a car that sputters when u press the gas too fast, that's very bad. Bad for drivability, bad for the engine over time. Try to see if you can get that fixed !! Awesome video. For my 2006 Pontiac Solstice I clamped all the return lines from the radiator and put the return lines from the thermostat in a bottle and forced air into the coolant tank to force the coolant through all the lines, I had to do that for about 2 full tanks or coolant, but it was mich faster than removing the coolant tank

It'd be interesting to compare it to the actual turbo GXP. My mother has one and she says its pretty much identical to how her 2001 Audi TT drove. I've not driven it but she loves it.

@@jpeezus6519 there is a lot that goes into it more than I know and this is not legal advice. Just some basic knowledge I found is, here in so cal you have to get your car smogged every 2 years if it passes emissions your good for 2 years. If it doesn't you can't renew registration and won't be able to drive it on street until you get it fixed. Turbo, exhaust, intake, certain engine swaps will make you fail the test. You can still have your car and drive on race tracks and such though just not on the street.

@@matthias18 from what I read on some forums you might be able to get it to pass emissions I am not sure though, you would need all the smog components from the cats to original intake and anything else that was on the 350z that was smog related. In the end since I use it as my track car it's not worth it for me.
You can street drive your 240 so long as you have catalytic converters and it’s not too loud. As long as the motor you’re swapping is newer than the chassis, it’s smog legal. For instance, if you had put an tpi small block from the 80’s vettes then it would have been not legal, by because the vq is newer than any 240 ever produced, it should pass

@@Slowsticee It's the LE5 K04 kit from RPM Motorsports. i just ordered mine about a week ago, and I'm waiting for it to arrive and planning my install. It doesn't look to difficult, but we will see. I think my total cost was $3200 but I'll be spending a little more to get the HP tuners package as well.
I’m sure this vid is old. I’m sure a shit ton of people have said this already but here we go. Understanding the difference between sprung and unsprung weight is VERY simple. And you got it wrong. Spring weight is weight the suspension holds.... the cars suspension does not hold the freaking wheels... it uses them as contact with the ground to transfer spring weight. Basically... anything at the wheel end is unsprung because the spring ARE NOT supporting it, but rather using it as support. Reducing UNSPRUNG weight has significant effects on handling etc, so at least in the end you did benefit the build.

@@dougcohen3364 they rev to 7k. And it's not like saying a KA is better. Ecotec is just a newer better engine series. Direct injection, water pump housing is molded to the block. All accessories mount direct to the block actually.
