As a German I can tell you: There's ALWAYS a deeper meaning buried in a Rammstein song. That's the whole point about their songs. At first glance they seem pretty obvious like this one but they're one of the most if not THE most controversial bands in Germany due to their multi-facetted lyrics and meanings. They're meant to be provocative but not only to be graphic instead they always portray a social issue or problem instead.

    • @Hasselroeder
      @Hasselroeder 20 дней назад

I'm german too and can agree! He is blind in the video and surrounded by big tits, which he admires. You could switch the tities with something else and it could be the same. At least that's my interpretation.

Rammstein's lyrics are clear and concrete enough. If you could make them visible (even with automatic translation) you would get more of the context of the song. And that would be more satisfying for us too. So many things were left up in the air. It's not essential for this track, but you should try it in your next Rammstein song. Thanks for everything else. It's so much fun to watch you..

    • @musicnerd1023

Rammstein tends to have double meanings in a LOT of their lyrics and this song is no exception in the context of the video. Only thing this poor guy needs in life are big tits and yet he's blind and unaware that he's surrounded by them.

    • @antivanti
      @antivanti Год назад +6

Their lyrics are actually often absolutely filled with double meanings and wordplay and references that only work in German. Not this song so much but some. But you can at least get the surface meaning with a translation

    • @osmanyldran4363
      @osmanyldran4363 Год назад +4

@@antivanti Certainly. However, in order to reach the secondary meanings and/or metaphors you mentioned, a basic translation is needed first. And since the lines in their lyrics are short, automatic translation performs this primary task well enough. I just wanted to point it out.

Erfurt is the capital city of the state of Thuringia and located north of Bavaria. The name of the city has the same ending ("-furt") like Frankfurt and the English equivalent ending is "-ford" (e.g. Oxford, which would be "Ochsfurt" if it were located in Germany). Both mean the same thing: A shallow place in a river or stream allowing one to walk or drive across (e.g. ox carts in olden times). Since these points were strategically important and well visited, towns and cities would later develop around these places (hence the city names).

Hey :) I think there are translations in their youtube videos for a lot of songs. This song is really just a fun song and nothing too deep i guess, but a lot fo their songs are pretty deep. Rammstein songs can be what you make of em a lto fo times. Different meanings. The leadsinger is the son of a german poet and he publishes a lot of poetry himself. AS Rammstein lyrics his poetry can also be seen as "controversial". Mostly it is just him switching into the "I" or "me" from? Like into the protagonist. That sometimes is a cannibal, might be a rapist, sometimes he is a boy that got raped by a priest and so on. Some people here in Germany take it way to literal and try to portray him as some sort of violent psycho while he just like on stage is just a persona for songs and lyrics. He himself is actually pretty shy. You wont find many interviews with him and a lot of times he wears sunglasses in them to hide at least a little. Also the crazy shows and so on came partly of his huge stage fright. He says he needs his alter ego or a role to play because wouldnt feel comfortable being himself. He loves to act in videos and shows for that reason. Songs like Amour, Ohne dich, Mein Herz brennt or Frühling in Paris are more intimate and soft and more personal. Best regards

'Du hast' is live, but 'Deutschland' and 'Dicke Titten' are studio videos (or rather short movies), so I would like to recommend some live videos of the band, for example 'Engel' live from Madison Square Garden (and the place was packed!), 'Rammlied' also from Madison Square Garden and 'Ohne Dich' live in Paris. I think you'll love their live persormances.
By the way, if you try to understand the lyrics of Rammstein, they are almost always ambiguous and words that are pronounced the same have a completely different meaning, e.g. 'du hast = you have', but 'du hasst = you hate' and just by listening you don't know the difference. This is because the lyrics are designed in such a way that both are possible. An example in English would be 'to raze sth' and 'to raise sth'.
There are also several songs by Rammstein that are controversial because of the events they refer to and the band is not afraid to address the amoral excesses of a society or maybe better societies.

    The lyrics translated to English.
    [Verse 1]
I've lived alone for many years
Life is dull, everyday life is grey
I lose patience, sanity and hair
I would like to have a wife
And the hope wants to wane
    Finding a partner
    Who is coequal to me
No, there’s no luck in sight
    [Chorus]
She doesn't have to be beautiful
She doesn't have to be smart, no
She doesn’t have to be rich
Not a model with long strides
    But big tits
    [Verse 2]
    Like a constantly open wound
    Blood drips from the soul
    Only consolation are little dogs
A fine miss would be good
A fine miss would be great
    I'm not demanding at all
    I'm not picky at all
At the end of the story

She doesn't have to be beautiful
She doesn't have to be smart, no
She doesn't have to be rich
But I would like to ask for one thing
    Big tits
    [Instrumental Break]
    [Bridge]
    I'm not demanding at all
But big boobs would be great
    [Chorus]
She doesn't have to be beautiful
She doesn’t have to be smart
She only has to be rich
    In adipose tissue, please, please
She won’t miss anything from me
She doesn't even have to kiss me
Doesn’t need to comfort me with grapes
She only has to have huge tits
    Big tits

Another great German band to check out would be Electric Callboy. Most of their songs are in English, but they throw in German songs & phrases. “Hypa Hypa” or “Everytime We Touch” would be great introductory videos 😁

Great video - two things to help with as an expat living in Munich..., "Drindl", no. Pronounce it like "Deern-dill" ..., spelled, "Dirndl" and then you'll have nailed it.
Also, Okterberfest, or Wiesn ("Vee-sin") is only in Munich. All other festivals are NOT the "Oktoberfest".
Just thought that might be helpful. Happy New Year!

I lived in Nürnberg, Germany for 11 years and loved the culture. Nürnberg is in Bavaria and was one of Hitler's favorite places, there is a place called Dutzendteich in Nürnberg where Hitler stood to watch the military parades, the stand where Hitler stood still stands today and you can go up into the stands and stand where Hitler once stood. Nürnberg is also where they held the Nazi war trials and that courthouse is still there and is still being used as a courthouse. Nürnberg also has an old-world Christmas market in the old town called the Christkindlesmarkt, it takes you back in time.

Hey you really should go and react to the songs of Rammstein: Spring! and the song: Stein um Stein.... in all songs Rammstein sings about things in life, other bands do never make a song about... really any subject you can come up with, even the eeri subjects in life...Rammstein has probably a song about it! And the more you listen to them, the more you will start to appreciate them... these guys are truly world class and do not be surprised to see that at a concert you'll see senior citizens, typical Heavy Metal fans and young children head banging together on their songs, it is such a feast to be part of that, no really. Been several times to Rammstein concerts now, I can really advise for you to go there; at least once in your life and try to get tickets near the stage!

    Because of Erfurt:
You can use "air" and "ford" (like Henry Ford) for the pronunciation.
And this town isn't a small town. There live nearly 200.000 inhabitants. It is the capital of Thuringia (Thüringen).
