Happy New Year, Happy retirement, welcome to the club, at first you may think 'How am I going to fill in my days' well before you know it, you will be wondering where the day went, so much to do, enjoy your retirement - Great song, all great singers, thank you for reacting, can't recall hearing this one before,
This was written by Kev Carmody, an indigenous songwriter who didn't record his first album until he was 42. He left school at 12 and was a stockman (cowboy) and drover amongst many jobs over the years. I rate him as our greatest songwriter and paints a picture about rural Australia no other. Check out - I've been Moved, Eulogy (for a black person), Moonstruck, Elly - so so many, they're all so brilliant.
This is a pretty good example of what you could call an Aussie Folk Song, even though the composer is known (Kev Carmody). The musical style is very “ folky) & it was in a Folk Club in Tasmania that Paul Kelly first sang as a 20 something year old… Sang in my favourites folk venue The Stables in Perth back in the 1970’s 🙂
Happy retirement ot takes a while to get used to. Missy Higgins is a great singer snd the Rockwiz tv show always finished with artists doing duets mostly so you can find some gems in "Rockwiz duets" all your favourite singers appeared on that show.
I had so many things saved up to do when I retired that at first I couldn’t get into any of them - I just kept starting something then jumping to the next one. Since I settled I have really enjoyed retirement. You seem like the sort of bloke who could find a way of enjoying himself with the time that will be available to you. Best wishes
Welcome to retirement Mike. I had a hobby to go into and it has saved my sanity and kept me busy. It takes a while to get out of the routines of Worklife.
I've never seen/heard this before, I definitely have to look up the lyrics as I missed quite a few! Another great outback story! I hope you have good plans for the next few days Mike and stay positive about your future, it can be difficult to change your daily routine and fill the hours! Keep moving forward! Happy New Year to you and your lovely family! 💞👪
Hey Mike enjoy your retirement. I've been living a life of leisure now for seven years and I don't miss working all the holidays and all the crappy hours or putting up with irate members of the public at all. Travel or just do whatever you like . Enjoy yourself, mate.
Merry Christmas & HNY 🎉great choice thanks. I’m now living in Qld and we’ve just had some flooding… and there are significant fires down south in Vic. This is Aus . Happy retirement 😊 all the best there in Texas 🇦🇺🦘😎
G'day Mike, By the time you see this, your working days will be over. It looks like you have now got a new passtime to keep you bussy. Don't worry if you get confused by some of the terms we use. You will get used to them and one day you may even see some of these places in person. But to do that you have to get out of the big smoke.
Happy new year and congratulations, were you this nervous on your first day on the job as a policeman? edit, nervous might not be the right word, apprehensive maybe?
Woo hoo. I've been nagging you to do this one. It was written by an aboriginal fella, name of Kev Carmody. I don't much care who convinced you to do it. I just wanted you to hear it. Enjoy retirement. 👍

Not my usual preferred style of music but this was beautiful, with amazing storytelling, and missy is so pretty and beautiful voice.

I can't take the bustle of a quiet, country street either. When you live in the bush, you never want to leave.

Happy new year Mike, you’re doing a great job and just keep doing what you’re doing, especially reactions to John Farnham. Cheers mate.
