- Headed back on the trails in West by God Virginia and it was quite muddy this time around! The Niche kit is still installed on the Raptor 660 and still going strong for now, we'll see how well it handles the rest of this year! Any questions/comments/concerns ask them below!
Need some hole shots on that 660
I order two different niche head cylinders and neither fit for my 03 660r also done rebuilt it to a 686. Only thing holding me up is a head cylinder. Can you please point me in the right direction on getting another head cylinder?
Not sure what doesn't fit because the 01-05 should be exactly the same for the cylinder kits, as for the head, I'd say your best bet is eBay or facebook marketplace because it appears the heads are no longer manufactured, I need one for mine too eventually, camshaft bearings are shot
I have a 2004 Yamaha Kodiak 400, it has a bad tick to it valves have been reset and still has it sounds like it is coming down by the pull cord area, I’ve pulled tensioner and had about 3/8inch left for tension, what is making it tick down there is it the chain, it’s consistent with motor rpm’s, it runs great otherwise but is very annoying and I want to get it fixed. Do you have any ideas?
Depends on the sound it makes because your crankshaft is right next to where that timing chain is. I'm not familiar with that engine but if you can pull the valve cover / timing cover off, remove the tension and check the slack, that could tell you easier if that's your issue because the chain should not be super loose. It could also be the worn bottom end bearings causing that noise
How much slack is to loose
Also sometimes it don’t do it tell it’s warm and it kinda has a little wine to it down there then when it’s warm just ticking l
@@tannerklimek4435its hard to say how loose without being there to see, it really shouldn't have much slack at all. Shouldn't have any slack when the tensioner is on
Is this the one you rebuilt in the videos? 660
Yes
@@Hunters_Mechanics damn that niche holding up nicely. Kinda making me rethink them.
@@codylaws9369 I think the extensive machine shop time and expensive head gasket kit made it relatively reliable. Especially running that oversized radiator and the engine ice. I still can't give it a solid choice for people yet because of the emails I've gotten of the bad luck of others but I'm riding this kit till it dies again 😂 already had a quite a few rides this year
guy on raptor needs to stick to flat ground lol
Flat ground does not exist in WV lol
