Her technique is so great. Breath on point, diction on point, rhythm on point, french on point, tone on point. She doesn't need to move around and wave her arms. Her voice tells the story.
This woman, Elina Garanca, this is the most elegant I've seen her.
Her stance, her poise,

Granted Maria Callas performing Carmen is exceptional however to me Elina Garanca owns this. She oozes sensuality and her performance is sublime.
There is also an excellent version by the great Victoria de los Angeles! But Bizet wrote this role for a Mezzo! :D

In my opinion, Callas can't be the best Carmen. Elina Granca is above. Brava!
I love how, even in a concert setting, she stays in the character.

In this concert, she can't use her body to portray Carmen, so she needs to depend upon only her face and her voice, resulting of the sexiest vocal performance in the history of humanity!

Her position is so easy to see, one can feel one's body, mask, pallet, etc. Falling into place just watching her. She teaches just by singing, IMHO.

Maria Callas is textbook perfect when she performs Habanera, but Elina Garanca embraces it with passion.
I don't know what's outstanding about Maria Callas? I really prefer Elina Garanca because she is a true Mezzo and this is an outstanding performance (look how small Dudamel is compared to Elina)! There is also an exceptional recording by Victoria de los Angeles (also IMHO far better than Callas)!

Elina was Virginia Zeani's student and this can be seen in the impeccable and brilliant style of singing and in the manner of performing the role in a superlative way.
