I know mandarin but not canto, each version is so unique. Chinese - Silky, smooth, elegant Cantonese - Punchy, powerful, sassy Taiwanese - Sultry, pop, confident I love them all :)
It’s such a snazzy song! I agree with your breakdown - Diamond Zhang sounds beautiful in the intro, but the pop chorus doesn’t completely suit her. Thank you!
OMG!!!! I'm totally in love with the Chinese version. Zhāng's voice is so spectacularia. And after all Chang'e is the Chinese Moon Goddess and that gives me some kind of Chinese vibes which I can't explain. I really wish she would've dubbed Anna in both the Frozen movies. Her voice is so pure and crystal clear and has got this extraordinaria singing skill. And regarding the Cantonese version well it really gives me Eurovision vibes all along. She really has a great attitude and adds the sparkle to the song with her amazing singing skills. And regarding the Taiwanese version.....well I'm not a big fan of her though. Oo and that picture of Chang'e you've got there is also really beautiful 💕💕💕💖🎆🎇
Her voice is indeed spectacularia - love what you did there 😉 you’ve heard her in the pop version of “A Whole New World” 2019 right? That’s by far my favourite performance of hers 💕 and she would’ve been an amazing Anna, instead of Eva Lee who was great in The Little Mermaid but dropped the ball when it came to Frozen
@@Meirenyu Yeah!! you got it right. I heard her in the pop version of 'A Whole New World' and there she totally blew me away. When Zhāng was announced as the singing voice of Chang'e I was soooooo happy that I'll be hearing her again as one of my favourite characters. And it was certain that she didn't disappoint me at all instead she raised the bar even higher. This movie indeed is Spectacularia. 💕it
Disney should really dig a little deeper into the Chinese Culture if they want to make another Chinese film in the future. Disney made 2 versions of Mulan ; the animated one at least made sense and was MUUUCHH better than the live action one but it still didn't impress the Chinese public at all. But Over the Moon in its first attempt just nailed it. Disney should learn something from Netflix on how to represent a particular culture perfectly. I'm just waiting for the Oscars next year to see Over the Moon nominated for Best Animated feature and Best Original Song
awww I’m so happy to hear that about how much you love Diamond Zhang! I adore her too (Disney, next princess voice? 💁🏻♀️) That’s the most ironic part about Mulan 2020, they changed so much from the animation (no songs, no Shang etc.) in an attempt for it to “be more authentic” but it ended up less than the 1998 original lol 😅
Gah, I remember having to skip this video because I hadn't seen the film then. I only just managed to come back to this video and I got to say - this is amazing, from the transitions to the layout. I can totally see the integrity to Chinese culture, more so than the Mulan live action.
I really enjoy listening to them! All of them are my favourites but Cantonese is the best here! Her singing reminds me of traditional Cantonese opera but with a slight touch of modernity so it sounds fresher and somehow fits the song better. I love how Chinese Mandarin version lyrics which states that she is the queen. By the way, when reading Cantonese singer's name, it reminds me of my former teacher's surname which is 郭 too but it is romanised as Kwok. I agree that this movie portrays Chinese culture better than Mulan 2020. While watching this movie, it reminds me of primary school where we would create a lantern for Mid-Autumn festivals.
yesss that's exactly it! although that is why I don't like the intro of Cantonese (LOVE the rest) - it's too opera 😅 I prefer the soft graceful Chinese Mandarin version there. As for Cantonese romanisation - there's numerous systems and not a standardised way, unlike Mandarin. For exmaple, Jyutping &Yale give you Gwok, I'm not sure which system is Kwok, but I've definitely seen it too. For sure! tbh Mulan 2020 seemed like she was an Avenger, the Asian warrior 😂 whereas the way they depicted Fei Fei's village and the details, spot on. I love mooncakes too!
@@Meirenyu I actually thought that the whole song was supposed to be sung in operatic way but I am glad that they combine both operatic and poppish way of singing in this song. I heard that here, during colonial times, the name registrars sometimes would mishear what the names are, giving us this kind of spelling. Plus, there was not Jyutping or Yale on that time. I have seen names spelled as Kuok or Kok (usually Hakka-descended people) too for the same characters. Even the spelling of my neighbour’s name is messed up because of this 🤣
The editing is drop dead gorgeous! :D My favorite of the three is Cantonese so far, she totally aces the spirit of this song. Glad that the film provided the accurate and authentic Chinese representation which was needed! The song itself is such a breath of fresh air as it brings such a unique sound to the usual female ballads that Disney and other animation films have provided us so far, I'm completely obsessed by how catchy it is and how vocally demanding and colorful it is! :D
Thanks Rishabh! yesss my favourite is Cantonese too 🥰 I didn’t care about this song at first but it has very quickly grown on me - it’s like Eurovision meets Kpop! and totally agree on it being very vocally demanding, merges two completely different genres. Phillipa Soo slayed it👌
I still need to get around to make a video of this song because it's so 😍 I absolutely love the layover of Chang'e you used - it looks like a painting almost! - and the multi is so well done overall 💕 My favorite of the three has got to be Cantonese ^^
I've been wanting to say this for a while but didn't know who'd understand - you'd never get that big of an audience in Eurovision, whereas the size of some of the Kpop venues in Japan/Korean is insane - and the audience's lights are like the lightsticks 😅 but yesss can't wait to see the video that you make 💕
Such a stupendous mix, I love the layout & the transitions so much. Just what this movie deserves ❤ As for my preference I'm still hesitating between Cantonese & Putonghua but the 3 of them have represented the Chinese languages in the best way 🥳
awww thanks so much 🥰 haha the placements were literally chosen around that - Chinese Mandarin for intro & Cantonese for first chorus! Mulan 2020 made me cringe so much 😅 whereas for this movie, it was the subtle details in the depiction that got it so right!
Thanks for creating this mix; it's weirdly difficult to find non-English + non-Mandarin versions of this song on RUclips, I assume they all keep getting taken down...and I don't understand Mandarin at all, I'm a heritage speaker of Cantonese haha.
Yay you’re back with another video! I’m so impressed by how good the transitions are! That’s because the mixing in the Taiwanese version is quite off, but you handled this perfectly :D I’m not sure whom is my fav out of Mandarin & Cantonese, both are so beautiful ♥️
Thanks so much! yep the Taiwanese audio quality was definitely inferior to the other two. And yes I'm in the same boat as you now, I used to love the Cantonese version but now I think I'm slowing edging towards Chinese Mandarin 😆
The ancient Chinese might pronounce in a way that was similar to "Kwak" and then it has changed, that explains why the pronunciation of 郭 in Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese and Cantonese resemble but the Mandarin one is different haha
The Chinese say yinyue for " 音樂 ", but in Korean it's eumhak, and âm nhạc in Vietnamese, so the old Chinese pronunciation was something similar to âm nhạc xD
This song is so eye-catching catchy when I hear it for the first time, it's so additive! I just hope that I don't go too far with this song that I forget the others:/ Anyway great multi as always, the Cantonese version has stood out to be my most favourite of the 3 for her attitude and impression but obviously the other 2 gives me many Chinese vibes!
I saw this movie last night and been playing this song on repeat all day today 😂 so addictive! but actually, my favourite has to be Rocket to the Moon, hands down. Seems everyone loves the Cantonese version most, and thank you, always cherish your comments!
Beautiful multi, the editing is wonderful. I feel so guilty now, I saw so many people here who loves the Cantonese singer, but it's my least favourite among these three😅. By the way, it would be amazing, as I red in these comments, if we should expect a ranking of Chan'ge from you. I'm actually finishing mine and hopefully I'll upload it in two weeks, or less if I am fast enough, but it has been such a pain, all the singers are sooo good. Again, good job😉
Thank you! oh don’t feel bad at all, we’ve all got those voices that everyone loves but it just doesn’t seem to click 😆 it will take long to rank her voices, she’s cast so incredibly well! but eeek very excited I cannot wait to watch your ranking ❤️
Love this song to death! All chinese versions are amazing but my favorite is probably the mainland mandarin one 😍 will you make a S&T video for this song of thr mandarin and tawainese versions? I often use your videos to study chinese and i want to learn thr full lyrics of this song next :D
ohhh I didn’t realise you had changed your channel name Raquel 😱 Chinese Mandarin is a close second for me! I wasn’t planning on it since the lyrics are pretty literal, but I shall take that as a request in hopes that it’ll be helpful to you 😌
@@Meirenyu Thanks so much! :D If you go see the stats of your Frozen 2 Mandarin S&T videos you will see Portugal there, and that is me! xD Cause I have seen your videos so many times to study! xD Yeah, I tried to re-brand my channel but got lazy and gave up real quick! xD I just love Chang'e and her songs to death so much!
