    I have owned a Forza 125 for about 18 months and 14,000 miles. I started riding in 1968 and rose up through the ranks and rode BMW and Moto Guzzis until a few years ago. I then found that the weight and running costs of such bikes was becoming too much. Enter the Forza. Whilst it cannot compete with bigger bikes on top speed ,journey time was not so different. I had an SH 300 and still wonder why I sold it, probably because other road users thought it was a 50cc machine and pulled out on me far too frequently. LED lights solve that problem. The Forza 300 will be bought as soon as possible. Many thanks for judging the Forza on its merits rather than your prejudices. Cheers, Tony

    I will keep this simple, 15 minute test ride from Dobles and bike ordered in white with the matching 45ltr top box which can be opened with the remote key, simply a fantastic fit for me and ticks all the boxes for some day and weekend rides, Honda have transformed this Scooter for the better.

      How tall are you Mike? I'm struggling to get test rides where I live. Looking at XMax 300 or Forza 300. At 6ft1" the XMax feels roomier but haven't ridden either yet...

      Hi Robert, I'm 5'8 & 29" inseam and it fits me like a glove, but try to get a test ride to find out which one will suit you.

      45 ltr top boxes are still on back order. Some supplier problem apparently. I've ordered one too and although I now have the bike I'm still waiting for the box. Having had the Forza for a week it is a great size for me (5'8"). If I were 6'1" I'd look at the Xmas 300/400. Forza does ride better, has a smoother engine and better mirrors. The only thing the Xmax edges the Forza on is build quality. Not that the Forza is poor - it's not. It's just that the switch gear, seat opening, fuel filler on the Xmax just feels a bit smoother and less clunky. You wouldn't notice unless you had the Xmax for compare it against.

      @@robertmartin9422 Thanks! Had a 2 hr ride on Forza a a few dsys ago and it is lovely, handles well but a bit cramped for me. I plan to use for a round the country tour next year as well as on local routes so will definitely try to get a XMax test ride too. Shame that 400 is so heavy as I'd welcome the extra bhp and twin disk. Hope you enjoy your Forza!!

    • @robertmartin9422
      @robertmartin9422 6 лет назад +2

      Thanks Robert. And good luck on the Xmax. You're right about the twin disks - I'd forgotten about that and you will notice the extra stopping power on the front brakes of the Xmax although oddly I found the rear single disk on the Xmax to be not quite up to the job. Maybe it was because of the weight of the Xmax 400 - it certainly felt noticeably heavier that the Forza. The engine note of the Xmax also sounds much throatier which I did quite like. The Forza sounds more refined and well mannered but is very quiet. Sometimes you want to make a bit of noise when filtering to reduce the chance of some muppet not hearing you coming and opening their driver door on you. To be honest scooters have come such a long way that these are both excellent bikes - you really can't go wrong.

    Great video I don't know why this country hates scooters so much , the honda you can load up with camping gear and tour round Europe if you wanted they are comfy and you can cruise on the motorway at 75-80mph if you want.

    • @joskoevoet9569
      @joskoevoet9569 6 лет назад +2

      @@chaddlesnake On paper 25.2hp for Forza, 28hp for xmax300. In reality it's also about the way the hps are delivered. Forza extremely smooth and linear, almost electrical. Very easy to ride, but without a kick. Xmax more exciting, with a kick the first seconds when you accelerate. I'll test drive the Forza again tomorrow, hopefully it's been broken in a bit by now. Do suspensions become less rigid during the break in period? or is that just for the engine?

    • @chaddlesnake
      @chaddlesnake 6 лет назад

      Thanks for the info! In regards to the forza suspension, it gets a little better over time.. It is definitely a little jarring for sure. I've never tried the xmax unfortunately. Have you given the new Burgman 400 a test ride yet?

    • @joskoevoet9569
      @joskoevoet9569 5 лет назад +2

      No, but I tested the Forza again today. Still had only 150km on it. Power was better than I remembered from last time, maybe I was careful with the throttle that time. Linear power, but certainly not slow in acceleration. I was afraid it would be a boring bike to ride - this is not the case. Once past 1000 km it will be even better I presume. No need to try the xmax300 again - bought the forza.

    Thanks for a great (and enthusiastic!) review. I have the old Forza 300 and love it. It's used as a winter bike and for weekends away the rest of the year. As you say, the new one has totally different styling, traction control, and adjustable screen. At 5' 8" it should fit me perfect. Thanks for the great video! I'm trading in my SH 300i and picking up a Forza 350 next week and I'm really looking forward to it. The SH 300i (now being up-graded to a 350) is a great scooter, I've owned 2, but I like the features and stowage on the Forza, although with the slightly smaller wheels I don't expect it to handle quite so well. As with the SH300i, as long as the bike can do 70mph with ease I'll be happy. This segment of the scooter market is crammed with some great bikes, which are extremely popular at the moment.

    A great review. Very informative, but I agree with previous person.
    Please could you do a comparison with the Yamaha Xmax 300. Here in Thailand the choice is between the new Forza 2019 and the new xmax 300 2019. It's a dilemma that comes up time and time again on the forums. Especially for a tall person like me (and you), another great review on the Yamaha Xmax 300 would be welcomed.

    Cracking review covering all the little technical details prospective owners want to know such as the keyless functions, digidash operation, lighting, brakes and storage space. Almost as good as a trip to the dealers....maybe better! Only thing missing is detailed performance such as how quick is it off the line and when cruising at 70 is there any left for overtakes and does it feel up to those situations. I guess that's a bit too much to ask plus it's very subjective and would need a benchmark to compare it with then viewers would need experience of the benchmark bike too.

      David Milnes very hard to test these things on a brand new bike . New engine , tyres etc it sat at 70 mph no problem with more to go .. the acceleration as you say is subjective, it felt quick enough

    Nice review and bike. I've also owned a SH300i amongst my list of bikes and scooters but am very disappointed that Honda haven't given this a bit more power. Its more than 10% down on power compared to my 28hp 2010 model SH300i (which is lighter than the Forza) and having another 5hp or so would help a lot on open road situations especially 2up & make it more competitive with Xmax 300 etc. I fear that makes it a non starter for me. The SH300i could just touch a true GPS 80mph without pillion and last 10mph took so long. Just don't feel this is adequate for a mid sized bike. Shame, Honda's other 300cc road bike, the CB300R has enough hp, yet doesn't have the accommodation & Honda refuse to make luggage for it. Whilst the two bikes may not appear to be in the same market, many people WOULD consider either for a light 2nd machine. Sadly, don't think the company is making the most of its assets. CB needs luggage, Forza needs the CB's engine.

    Great scoop! Just saw one in my dealer today, it looks fantastic. Will get a demo to see how it compares to my 2016 Forza 300. I love it, comfortable, 85mpg, good underseat storeage, cruises at 70mph with the larger screen fitted, stops and handles well. Suspension a bit budget but back off rear preload one notch improves it. I am 5' 11" weigh 82 kgs and have no problem, rode 250 miles to Paris and really enjoyed it. The new model is lighter so should be even better. Thanks for a great review.

      Hi Splodge. I have a 2016 Forza 300. Yesterday I took the new one for a test ride. Yep, the new one is slimmer, lighter and has a slightly shorter wheelbase and larger wheels. I felt it handled better than my 2016 model. The main difference was the riding position. You are higher up which gives better views and I felt more commanding. Same, great, smooth as silk engine. The adjustable screen was a gem for me at 5' 8". I was impressed. I've ordered one!

      Hi Splodge 57. Had my new Forza a month now, really enjoying it. Pros over my old one - The screen makes a difference; I prefer the higher riding position; didn't think I'd like the keyless ignition, now I wouldn't be without it; handles even better; has a useful petrol/mileage range on the dash. Cons - mirrors aren't great (for me at 5' 8"). It still has the same peach of an engine, as you say, 70mph all day, excellent mpg, and excellent brakes.
      Enjoy your test ride. Ride safe always. All the best.

    I kept my Forza just about a year and rode it most of the time. Eventually though I missed the power of a larger scooter. The mirrors on the Forza are too far inboard and without added blind spot mirrors are pretty useless. The headlight is useless as per most LED types especially in rain. The keyless system is not a problem, works well and is secure as it has an OFF switch to prevent being cloned/hacked or whatever. Good bike but as it turned out, not for me, OK for commuting but not for longer rides or touring. Swapped it for a MaxSym 600i.

    Just a quick follow up on my Forza, has it's first service, and now done 800 miles, no problems whatsoever, great fun to ride and comfy.
    Now for the bad stuff, nothing wrong with the bike, but Honda, what were you thinking about when you priced the heated grips and the fancy top box? Honda grips around £480.00 fitted, I know I can get others cheaper, and wait for it £750.00 for the top box including the rack and plate, but not sure if it includes fitting, passed on both and got a Givi rack and box, fitted in under 10 mins.
    If you take in depreciation from riding the bike off the forecourt, the price of the bits mentioned is around 25-30% the cost of the whole bike, don't think Honda will be selling many of those.

I just wanted the seat hump to be further back and the seat to be higher. Screen just about ok on highest setting. Could do with a lockable cubby and an underseat light. Excellent Video, For me riding a 300cc scooter, I would say it is a 1 person Max bike. No passengers then build/modify the seat for that purpose. If I used it as a 1 rider bike then I would make a custom seat, with either or both a Higher/thicker seat foam/padding, and either remove or move back the seat backrest for the single rider. As a thicker foam seat would get you further away from the foot rests providing more leg room and getting the Back rest further back, or eliminating it altogether would be another benefit for long legs. where the back rest starts to where it finishes looks to be about 5 inches or so meaning you have about that much room to go back and maintain that low seat height, or go both up a little and back.

      Robert Marsh - I test rode the Forza 300 and X Max 300 back to back today. I'm also 6'1" with 32" inside leg. Comfort was better on the Forza. Its seat seemed slightly higher to me - which meant a more natural hip angle. I rode the Forza first and thought the engine was incredibly smooth and when I opened the throttle, acceleration was smooth and effortless. When I first got on the XMax 300 my initial thoughts were the same as John Taylor - seemed like I was on a scooter with less power - and the engine was much more agricultural sounding. I got use to the Yamaha after 10-15 minutes and its a nice scooter. However, I thought the Honda looked better, had a smoother engine, slightly more comfortable and also a more forgiving suspension. Honda went over potholes quite well - Yamaha a bit stiffer. Never got anywhere near top speed - so can't really comment on that. I'd be using it for commuting into central London - either will do that very well. I'm going for Honda - for reasons given above - and I trust Honda build quality.

      Gary Oliver thanks for your reply and detail on this. I need to make some appointments to test ride. Both bikes sound very interesting but the Forza is tempting. Hope I'm not too disappointed with such a midi scoot after my TMax but the reality is that bike had too big an overlap with my BMW boxers in any case, and often wasn't ridden. I really enjoyed my old SH300i, which I found more comfortable than the TMax which though I loved, placed a lot of weight on my cocix, restricting longer journeys. Realistically the 300 is planned for 1hr or so trips 2-up in Wiltshire and Oxon area though I have a plan to tour the UK on it next year as a project. Good luck with your bike!

      Gary, thanks for the comments re the XMax 300 power - Given the number of XMax's I see around London I was starting to think that I imagined the lack of power. Have about 90 miles on mine at the moment from commuting from S. London to Waterloo and I am loving the Forza 300. Very responsive, comfortable, smooth. Additionally LOTS of storage under the seat which helps as I'm still waiting for the top box. I have a Harley Davidson that's feeling a bit neglected as the Honda is getting all the attention - at the moment. So far I've not found anything I don't like other than everything enclosed in 'scooter panels' unlike a Harley. The next weekend project is to find a power connection for the Sat Nav. For mounting a sat nav, the handle bars still have the threaded sockets for last year's mirrors with some plastic plugs screwed into them. You can get a 10mm screw in RAM mount ball which screws in nicely where the 'old' mirrors were. Gary, I think you'll really be pleased when you get yours!

    Well mine has arrived, looks gorgeous, sounds a bit tame on standard silencer but I can live with that. Bought a used top box for £80 and the OEM rack as the keyless OEM box is not coming to the UK initially and even a keyed box is best part of £400 with the VAT. Going to winterproof it before venturing out and it's a shame to get it mucky.
    Very pleased so far.

    Love the bike but this guy needs some serious talking to about road safety . He is very exuberant but his hands are all over the place at one point he took both hands off the handlebars. If he had hit a pothole or raised object or gravel in the road he would have been off, no doubt about it.. You can't use your rear brake if your hands are flying elsewhere. His road positioning is poor, his forward vision at times is negligible. Needs some serious training. May suggest an Advances course or just a CBT?

  • @robertmartin9422
    @robertmartin9422 6 лет назад +2

    Just been down to Dobles, tested and ordered one. I mentioned you name Mr. Fish!
    Had my new Xmax 400 stolen a few weeks ago (********!!!). The Forza fits me better with a lower seat height (I'm 5'8") and it's also slightly narrower which helps. The Forza also handles better but I miss the slight extra grunt of the 400. Took the Forza on the M25 just to make sure it could cope and it was stable at 70. Much better mirrors than the Yamaha. Think the Xmax had a slightly more quality feel (petrol cap cover, seat catch etc.) but overall I think this will be an improvement on the Yamaha. Great looking scooter. Also comes with free Datatool tracker which after my recent experience is a must...

    • @robertmarsh3588
      @robertmarsh3588 6 лет назад

      Rob Martin Good luck with the new bike! Very sorry you've had your XMax 400 taken. Out of interest, why the Forza and not the XMax 300? I live in Wilts and struggling to get test rides right now though sitting on the Forza and the XMax the latter seems better suited to my 6'1". I've had a SH300i some years back and a lovely TMax more recently, but just couldn't get on with the riding position of the TMax (weight on cocix causing back pain) so ended up taking out my BMW boxer even on shorter rides...hence looking for a compromise.

    • @robertmartin9422
      @robertmartin9422 6 лет назад

      I'd just come down from a CBF 1000 and ideally didn't want to go as small as a 300. In the 400 world it was either the Bergman (which I didn't really like) or the Xmax. Having read the reviews and tried the Xmax 400 I knew the seat height might be a bit of a challenge (800 mm seems to be higher than pretty much every other scooter on the market) but I could just about live with it. The Xmax 300 has the same seat height so no benefit going for that. Obviously 6 months ago when I bought the Xmax, Honda had nothing comparable.The only real down side of the Xmax was the seat height - apart from that it was great. At 6'1" you should find it perfect - I think you may find the Forza a bit small. The handlebar reach on the Xmax is also adjustable so that may help your back issue.What I really want is Forza 400 but hey, you can't have everything!

    • @robertmarsh3588
      @robertmarsh3588 6 лет назад

      @@robertmartin9422 Thanks that's really helpful. The XMax did indeed feel a bit more spacious for me when I sat on it plus the Forza in the showroom. I'm a little concerned the Forza will be be cramped.
      Agree 100% re a Forza 400!! My old SH300i was lovely but a little slow as I do lots of 2 up (for which my BMW Boxers are great..but they're heavy and I like having something to just hop on, go and manoeuvre at low speed easily or from the ground). I thought the TMax would be perfect, but I just can't get on with the riding position with my dodgy back and need something a bit more upright.
      BTW my GPS top speed of the (28ps) 2010 SH300i was 80mph, I suspect the Forza will be similar. OK acceleration to 70, but not really much good for overtaking beyond 60mph without a long straight. If the Forza is anything like it, it'll be a great commuter and good handler though.

    Tried a few others and they are either hulking great big things (BWM, Burgman) or have not got the practicalities of a scooter. This fits the bill and at the price is excellent. I bet by next Spring these will retail at £5600. Just need Honda to come out with a rack and a decent sized top box for it. I don't think the dealer really knows! They were going from past experience of accessories following a month or two behind a new bike release. @@Mrfish2015 Thanks for replying. Gave you a mention / passed on your hugs to Mike at Doble today via email!! I didn't get the trade-in deal that I was after, but hey ho, off to try with another dealer for a lovely Forza 300. Love from Scotland, X :-)

    Looks like a good bike, I prefer the look of the SH300 but there are very few reviews.
    Did you do one on that.
    Thanks

      Compared to the Forza 125 it definitely is. The 125 really struggles beyond 70kph because of its weight. This one can easily keep up with traffic and hold highway speeds comfortably

    Great video, 2019 model, By the looks of the speedometer, seeing that it reads in MPH miles per hour, I would say this bike is setup to come to the USA. I will be test riding this bike. I have a Honda Silverwing 600. If the New Forza 300, is descent as far as power and comfort handling. I will have one. I hope it is under 400pounds wet weight.

      I have the 2014 Forza and really love it for the city. However, cruises only 70 mph on the highway. This new Forza is 401 pounds wet. My old Forza is 428 pounds wet. I too will test drive the new Forza to see it can be faster on the highway. I believe its the same 279 cc engine and maybe same CVT. We will see.

    We possibly share same leg length so any tips on best bikes/scooters re easiest to live with would be really appreciated! I have just passed up on a Tricity 125 and Super Cub for above reasons so next bike/scooter must be 'the one'! Regards, Hugh. ( nothing big mind you weight wise )

      Get a kymco they are like 60% cheaper than so called name brands and to be honest kymco is tossed in the ring with "gy6" bad name but in reality they are very good just a lot cheaper!

    The power-to-weight ratio of Forza 300 (.057) to Burgman 200 (.054) is almost identical. MPG is about the same. The Forza's tank is .5 gallons larger, and it's heavier than the Burgman by 98 pounds.

    Maybe you can try SUZUKI Burgman 400,that bike's handlebar is very close to the rider.
