I have the most wonderful memories from when my brother was a Drakie in the 1980's... We always stayed in the caravan park and played in the mountains. Incredible school, incredible surroundings... magic!
Im in Queensburgh girls high school. I reallllllyyyyy wish our girls choir could meet the drakensburgh boys choir....... There voices are heavenly to listen to, you have done south africa proud...... 😊
I always have enjoyed The Drakensburg boys choir if I had to be somewhere overseas and had to think back here to South Africa there music probably would bring back memories of my growing up days in South Africa
Beautifully sung, such a pity the school cannot dig out the archives of the very first records made and get them professionally converted so All us old boys and those who remember 1969 to 1980 can enjoy. So much was achieved in those days that put the school on the map. Soloists like, Frikkie Swanepoel, Barry Coleman and a few others really planted the school trees for them to grow. The first overseas tours, the first films made so so sad they all in the files. I recall this song being sung by Frikkie when we were in Israel and won the first choir festival, Frikkie got ill and Barry Coleman had to take over and he too had a bit of a cold and we all waited in anticipation to see if he would hit that high note which he did splendidly and the crowd jumped to their feet. Oh those where the days.... bring them back please.
I had the pleasure of working with the choir many, many times over a period of about 10 years. What a joy. When Bunny took over as music director he began by changing the way the boys were trained. He consulted with John Bertalot about the design of the system and it worked superbly. Basically every new boy was trained in reading music fluently before they auditioned in front of the choristers who then voted on the ability of the new boy to see if he was ready to sing in the choir. After the death of Bunny I hope that his way of doing things has not changed. Those kids were a joy to work with.
Wow the boys are gifted. Its them and the Vienna boy's choir they will never cease to lift my spirits. Words alone cannot tell how much I am into their sound. Go on Drakensberg catch them young. I believe I can still sin along with the pitch ncwaaaaaaaw lovely. What about the girls? anything for them?
Only knowledge and practice can make the poor rich. Indispensable, knowledge and practice have encouraged me. Let me decide to arm my brain with knowledge and practice. To be careful my love family.

@@Lwandile2 hi Darren
Recently discovered this choir of beautiful, youthful voices. This mixture would not have been possible before apartheid. Greetings from the USA...
Hi Angie
I’m glad you appreciate the choir. I attended in the 80’s, and we were a mixed school, as we were private.

Take the corny electronic music out & this was perfect 🙏 Love all of the voices.
Hi
Excellent, but I cannot help wondering if voice with "NO EFFECT" is beautiful or not.
Believe this ia the best school choir in the world
I love the choir, but why leave out the second verse? They are not the only ones who do this, and to me it lessens the performance.
Amazing voices. Beautiful scenery. Terrible videographers.
⁰
Good singing, but need to work on the choreography...;)
It's perfect in my eyes..
There's nothing wrong with the choreography!!! Its perfect in fact.
There's no choreography in this video😂 Choreography is dance movements. Do you mean the cinematography
I was offered a scholarship to this school. I declined
+Mukudzeiishe Madzivire so what should we do? Appreciate your stupidity??
Emediong Umoh Yes. Duh!
If I'm not prodding too much into your social life, may I ask why you declined such a wonderful offer?
Mukudzeiishe Madzivire perhaps you had a good reason???
