    Moe Dee is a straight old school legend who obliterated LL lyrically. Moe Dee’s career lasted from the late 70’s to the 90’s so he was around for a while. LL didn’t end Moe Dee’s career the trend towards gangster rap did that. After Self Destruction the industry pretty much shunned all the positive rap.

    I still remember the first time I heard Death Blow. I got up on a Saturday Morning to watch Yo MTV Raps Top 10. They said, "Here's a new video from Kool Moe Dee." The video starts and I say to myself, "Is that supposed to be LL in the ring?" Then a woman comes out as a parody of L's grandmother and says, "Todd, Todd!!! I told you not to go messing with Moe Dee!!" I laughed so hard and enjoyed every bit of that song and video.

    LL has some good music, but he always got wrecked when it came to diss tracks in my opinion. I always thought his diss tracks were kind of weak and just weren’t enough, not only against the great Kool Moe Dee, but against any of his opponents. They were just alright. The only battles I guess you can say he “won” were the ones when he dissed someone and they didn’t respond. Kool Moe Dee definitely took the victory in this battle without a doubt. He took some good jabs at LL on “How Ya Like Me Now”, but he cremated him on “Let’s Go” and boxed up his ashes on “Death Blow”.

Im the same age as LL and i know he heard the same Treacherous Three tapes i had and there is no way he wasnt influenced as were others such as Rakim. He was the first super lyrical rapper that i ever heard all others came after. I like both LL and Moe Dee. LL is a legend but Moe Dee is a legend and the pioneer of lyrical rap.

      It's nice to see someone else liking the classics, this is one of the beefs that was honestly before my time but I feel like it showed a bit of a turn in how we see hip hop. A Verzuz would be cool but I doubt it would happen. A lot of Verzuz is about having a bunch of hit songs and I think at this point it would be stacked on LL's side with his numerous chart topping songs. I’m sure they were cool during the battle too cause it was about the skill and not who was the toughest like rap degraded into later.

    I was surprised that you didn't mention "Pink Cookies in a Plastic Bag", LL works 30 MCs' names into the lyrics, at a point he says "lovin' you moe and more" then a toilet flushes. I thought it was a silly little final nail for LL

    Kool Moe Dee was the better lyricist, LL had the better songs. L's songs aged better than Moe Dee's. Kool Moe Dee's lyrics may have hit harder, but you could still play "To The Breakadawn" in clubs and in your stereo system and the overall musical quality from the flow, production, and song sways in L's favor. So I'm giving this a tie since I value both lyricism and song format.

    • @OneStopHipHop811
      @OneStopHipHop811  2 года назад

      I'd probably agree with this take actually. When I listened to the KMD tracks I felt he came lyrically harder but LL Cool J songs had more enjoyability on a purely musical level.
