It's masterful. He begins with a mixture that's clearly got some genuine interest in there, only slightly skeptical of the idea of live demonstration of what is a rather tedious process. His mind probably something like "okay, no okay... give it a chance, might be engrossing after all!" And the gradual drop to contempt (which I think is appropriate thing to call it), is slow, like he's trying to be immersed, then he's trying to be polite, then he's trying to be civil, then... he can't hold it back any more. lol
I often drop quotes from TV shows into conversations to see if anyone picks up on them. Another from Fast Show that I use is "Which was nice." I've still yet to get "Do you like cheese? Do you like peas?" into a conversation.
Watched my boyfriend adjusting all of the floor tiles in our kitchen before glueing them down. Haven’t thought of this sketch in years and suddenly “just a tiny amount” popped in my head. Every time he’d move one a mm or two I’d say “just a tiny amount” in my head. It stopped me from killing him today 😂
@@tamar5261 oh, shush your overserious self. It's not that bad at all, bollocks to all this modern whining. Go out and make your Fast Show! Write some sketches, get some pals together, film it. the genius of paul whitehouse and co never fail to make me laugh till i cry ....... Just a tiny amount some times pee comes out .....just a tiny amount then people ask what i am laughing about so i show them the they start laughing ......again Just a tiny amount then the tears roll down their faces .......again just a tiny amount
Just watched Chicken Run for an episode of my podcast on the same subject and every single scene this was all I could think. Almost 30 years on this is still as funny as it was then.
I've always been a massive Fast Show fan and now that I'm moving from 'Retirement' to 'Pre-Death' (not actually! 😉), comedy and music is very important to me; oiling the wheels of old age. Thank you RUclips!! 👍 Although short I can watch this over and over again just for Paul Whitehouse's changing expression from genuine interest to disdain to utter disbelief! GENIUS!!
Do you know that for certain? I heard they played the scenes (on film) to an audience for the laughter tracks - then record that. This is how sketch shows are usually done because the audience obviously can't see what's going on. To prove that's true, you can sometimes hear a particular laugh (male or female) which never gets repeated.
Such a beautiful piece of television. Back in the day when they actually made stuff like this. Probably wouldn't be done these days because of misappropriation lol...
The way his face changes from fascination to boredom to utter contempt is brilliant to watch
Paul Whitehouse has the most expressive face in showbiz - esp when he changes it just a tiny amount!
The gamekeeper was one of his best characters...Ted would you like too go and watch Tina Turner...funny and touching.
Rowley Birkin QC.
Paul's magnificent.Happiness and Help were the best, too
The way his face changes to utter contempt is brilliant
It's not really contempt. More like frustration, surprise and disappointment.
@@Amethyst_Friend Thats your interpretation then
@@DanteRising Of course!

The Fast Show was the funniest sketch series of all time
And I proceed to say "just a tiny amount" to this day whilst nobody knows wtf I'm laughing about. The joy of getting old 😂
Getting old one day at a time. One day at a time being, just a tiny amount. :P

Haha amazing mate! I do the same with- “if you’ll pardon the pun” from Come Fly With Me
According to the DVD commentary, Nick Park loved this sketch and sent it out to family and friends that year as a video Christmas card!
to this day I cannot hear or read the words "just a tiny amount" without remembering this sketch
Same! 🤣
Poor Nick Park getting bantered hard here. God I miss the 90s 😢
He thought it was hilarious, and made loads of video copies which he sent to friends and colleagues.

@@forton615 it’s called tile adhesive
@@bobsmith3291 That's right. You just need a tiny amount though. Nice 😁
It was nice of you to spare his life, since he was being so annoying, what with tiling the kitchen while you watched and all.
A true saint.
If I was Nick Parks I would name my autobiography “Just a tiny amount” in acknowledgment of this amazing sketch.
That “for f***s sake” at the end gets me every time 😀 but only a tiny amount 😂
I’m a stop motion animator and this is too dam accurate! 😂 only difference is I can 2-4 seconds of film done per day! 🙌🏻

My pals and I still use the phrase "just a tiny amount" because of this sketch.
I do animations in work. Sometimes I have said this to myself and ended up in hysterics with the rest of my colleagues totally oblivious.
It’s scenes like this where you can see why Johnny Depp called Paul Whitehouse the greatest actor in the world
This is my favourite Fast Show sketch ever. I have never been able to watch this with a straight face. 😂
Your face is always moved by it, just a tiny amount. :P
I love how blatantly specific this sketch is. It's clearly Aardman Animations. Also, I love that Grommit's proportions are far too big for that chair.
That's because this is the scene where they make the chair grow just a tiny amount
Amazing! In grained in my memory beat for beat 20 something years later

It's a real tribute to the details that make Aardman movies so great!
