A defender wouldnt just accompanying him, he closes immediately the distance to him and blocks / attack his body and the puck . The quicker the defender manages to get to the striker, the more he shows him and succeeds, you can't get past here with your body or with the puck. This is always the battle between attackers and defenders at any one-on-one or two-on-two and so on.
